Junior
Legends , 33rd St beside the Empire State. Football in the basement bar pretty much all day and even tried to get the Cowdenbeath Ramsdens Cup game for me last year when I was there

Lambies Lost Doo
Take ID! No matter how old you are people will still ID you. It's crazy but also makes you feel young. I would second Nevada Smiths. Worked in NYC for a year 10 years ago and go back to visit regularly. It's not my favourite pub for watching football but if you want to see Scottish games outwith the 2 ugly sisters then it is your best bet. http://www.nevadasmiths.net/ It all depends on what bars you are into and your age I suppose. For me NYC has the best bars in the world. I am not a massive fan of bars in midtown which is around 33rd street up to Central park area. West Village, East Village and Lower East Side are the best areas for bars IMHO. I am cutting and pasting a mail I sent to a work colleague who was going over there a few months ago. For bars if you look them up and they say "Dive bar" don't be put off. It will not be like "The Comet" on Bilsland Drive. Different from a Scottish sense but a basic bar that shows sports and serves buffallo wings etc. They can get busy with a younger crowd some nights so just check in and then move on if it's not your scene. West Village http://www.nycbestbar.com/downthehatch/ http://www.nycbestbar.com/3SheetsSaloon/ http://thefatblackpussycat.com/ http://www.redlionnyc.com/ http://www.bitterend.com/ Union Square http://unionsquare.lilliesnyc.com/ Chelsea http://www.trailerparklounge.com/ East Village http://nymag.com/listings/bar/niagara/ http://www.mcsorleysnewyork.com/ http://www.11thstbar.com/ Lower East Side Streets between Houston and Delancey St. Ludlow ST and Orchard ST the best for options. The Sunnylaw Jag
Crikey, that's quite comprehensive. I'm going to Tighnabruaich for the new Year, is the nightlife as good there?
kearny_jag
This link will be your best bet for the latest NYC "soccer" bar scene. You can pick up print copies in most of the bars showing the games http://www.firsttouchonline.com/soccer-pubs-nyc/ (appologies for the photo on the front cover). If you have time and want to watch the games with ex pats the best bet is the scots club (link above in my previous post) would also give you the opportunity to see the Red Bulls stadium I can also give you a list of celtic bars to avoid if that helps too
ian_mac
Last time I was there was 2008 so things may have changed now. But back then I was told that Rangers & Celtic games were only allowed to be shown in the official supporters bars of both clubs. Normal bars weren't allowed to screen any of their matches. Turned out to be a real blessing as there was an OF game during my time there and I was able to enjoy the premiership game in Nevada Smiths in complete blissful ignorance of what the ugly sisters were up to.
