Facts Not Fiction...the Archie Years

January 2013, Archie, with no managerial experience whatsoever, get the jags job with the team several points behind Morton and virtually unable to win away from home. Roll on to the end of the season and we win the league by 11 points and are undefeated in every single league game since Archie took over. CHAMPIONS!

This season, some good additions to the squad including Higgy and Ozzie, but some dodgy, Baird and Kerr but we get off to a half decent start then it goes a bit pear shaped. Struggling at the break, calls for the bosses head from a few malcontents(who keep telling us their group is growing by the day!!) Some excellent moves in the window from the manager to bring in Taylor, Erskine, Fraser, Bauban and Mair and get rid of the failures. Form improves but is still patchy. Have to also contend with a horrendous long term injury list to vital players, namely Osbourne, Muirhead, Welsh, O'Donnell. Head into the split and we hit the best spell of the season with two wins and two draws in our 4 pressure pot split games. We are now 7th in the SPFL with one game to go and our place in the SPFL is guaranteed and as far as placings go, we can end the season with one of our best ever finishes in the clubs history. Archie must go, is correct, but with the wording after it being, and approach David Beattie and ask for a new extended contract. The man deserve it as does Scott Paterson

Excellent post. And amongst all of those who have played either as a starter or a sub in the last couple of months, all of them deserve to be playing for us again next season. Collectively they have shown that they have what it takes. They will improve, and be reinforced by new arrivals. It's a good time to be a Jag.

It's been frustrating at times this season as we've dropped a lot of points from winning positions. This is mainly down to a lack of experience amongst other things and has not really cost us in the long run.

When you look at the table you can see how good the season actually has been when you consider that;

1. We have picked up points in roughly 2/3rds of our games this season. If more of the draws had been wins then we'd have been comfortably top 6.

2. We have the least amount of defeats compared to other teams in the bottom half and a similar amount of defeats to the likes of ICT and St Johnstone.

3. We're joint top scorers in the bottom 6 and have more goals than ICT.

Archie and the team really deserve a massive amount of credit for pulling out 2 wins and 2 draws so far in the post split fixtures. When the pressure was really on they have delivered. Well done.

What I find most pleasing has been our record since the split, after a poor result against Hearts.

2 wins, 2 draws, no defeats.

That's an excellent return when the pressure is really on, especially considering that 3 out of the 4 games so far have been away from home.
