  1. Given he was with us in one of our worst ever season's, in the middle of consecutive relegations seeing us land in the second, it's hard to think fondly of anyone at that period. It was the start of 7 or 8 years of an abysmal product and woeful management. Dowie was obviously still rated at the time as he was getting U21 call-ups. The Dunfermline fans are speaking highly of him, so perhaps we can see the best of him if he does indeed arrive on our doorstep and I'm sure he will have a point to prove. Archies point about fit, match ready players coming in is a good one and what we need at this stage as a bit of insurance. At the end of the day it will be a short term contract and it's up to the player to prove he deserves more. If he's good enough for Archie, he's good enough for me. OneThistle.
  2. According to my abacus, string and set of compasses the earliest we could clinch the title would be 13th Apr away to Airdrie which would require us winning 4 in a row and Morton losing 3 which is highly unlikely even though one is against us. The use of these instruments also confirmed beyond reasonable doubt that as a team our sum is greater than our parts, a point that won't be lost on the players who to a man will decide to stay at Firhill next season. I think we will grab the prize at the last home game v Dunf 27th April with Morton also beating Hamilton that day but us being 4 points clear. We will win in some style, showing no mercy against a weakened Dunfermline team with an average age around Gary Glitters favourite number and win by a seasons best of 8 goals (all crackers) to 1. Most Thistle fans will applaud the Dunfermline goal as they are in such a great mood given the circumstances of clinching the league and that we were 7-0 up at the time anyway but one moany b*stard will give the team pelters for it (you know who you are!) and it will ruin their day/night as that will be his take away moment. Anyway PM me if you want to know the scorers or times.
  3. You appear to have missed the point. I'm not asking anyone to move here, I'm helping out fellow Jags fans. Strange post, I presume not from a Thistle fan (FYI a team called Partick Thistle are playing in a final in Livingston).
  4. Grand Central also doing 2 for 1 on grub atm, so I'll be heading there myself. http://www.grandcentral1.co.uk/UserFiles/GRAND-CENTRAL-MENU-FACEBOOK-large(2).jpg They are also doing a special after match menu for QoS fans http://www.grandcentral1.co.uk/UserFiles/Funeral_menu.pdf
  5. Paul Paton, yet again magnificent. I just hope the knock that stopped him playing the second half doesn't keep him out for Saturday as that would be a huge loss. Great atmosphere in their wee shed and we made the 12th man count, must have been 600 Jags. A bigger turnout on Saturday and we could make some racket and help the boys past the finishing line. The deserved winding up of Colin Stewart was brilliant, hope he's not been dropped for Saturday. Archie got the tactics spot on and the general consensus was a 'professional' performance, also great to see yet another clean sheet. 100% effort from the whole team wether or not things came off they just stuck at it and eventually forced the breaks through hard work and tanacity, oh yeah and a dodgy keeper helped In fairness to Stewart, he had 2 outstanding saves in the second half from a Sinclair free kick (the sending off incident) and a Lawless curler. For anyone going on Saturday, would recommend 'Wee Jimmy's' for a pint, nice and friendly.
  6. From http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/21928999 "But central midfield pair Fraser Fyvie and Stuart Bannigan soon settled into a passing rhythm with team-mates which often reached over 20 exchanges without a Luxembourg touch."
  7. Don't worry, I'm coming to yours for a celebration game of Subbuteo. Have you got any drink promos on?
  8. I would say coming in to Livi North is your best bet. The 2 hostelries there will be quieter and better for getting served. Straight off the train and into Grand Central (behind chippie) for a couple of pints and has plenty pool/snooker tables. http://www.grandcentral1.co.uk/index.html Then head across the road to the Saltire which does good food (good jukie) and another couple of pints http://external.findmypub.com/spirit/pub.php?property=7358&county=95 Time to head closer to ground, Get a taxi 01506 444444 should be about a fiver or walk: 30 minutes, straight all the way or swing by Oscars for a pint http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=Livingston+North,+Deans&daddr=Oscar's+Bar+%26+Grill,+Ladywell+East+Road,+Livingston+to:Livingston+Football+Club,+Alderstone+Road,+Livingston&hl=en&sll=55.894505,-3.533841&sspn=0.020719,0.038581&geocode=Ff__VAMdkPLJ_yGj-NQXRhAtRikzmn3xQ9mHSDGj-NQXRhAtRg%3BFR7hVAMdTjbK_yELWY9DgTKHxSlHqtAKV9mHSDELWY9DgTKHxQ%3BFRjCVAMd50HK_yGK-u-o3LpvcCmfxeAgVdmHSDGK-u-o3LpvcA&oq=oscars+bar+and+grill&mra=ls&t=m&z=15 Alternatively, there is no shortage of places to eat at the shopping centre. There is the original shopping centre and a designer outlet beside each other both with plenty eateries: http://www.shopthecentre.co.uk/featured/food-and-drink http://www.mcarthurglen.com/uk/livingston-designer-outlet/en/the-experience/restaurants/ The ground is short walking distance from here.
  9. Great job, I could watch the build up to the Erskine goal all day.
  10. Saw a little commotion from the section up, didn't look like a big deal. I wouldn't beat yourself up about it. I wonder how many long term Jags fans can say they've never shouted something innapropriate at Firhill before to a player/linesman/ref/opposition fan........and if you haven't then why not?
  11. Great to see the Welsh guys at Firhill. Your welcome any time
  12. Cheers LiviTV enjojed that. Another great performance, I'm just loving this season. The build up play/assists were something special here I think. Livi have been going pretty well all in all lately as well. This was more about our class performance than Livi having an off day and I hope the players enjoyed that as much as I did, outstanding. Paton winning ball in own half, making and 15 yard run before a lovely ball to Lawless to win the pen. Shaun Welsh great positioning then sucking defender in with brilliant timing, great touch and perfect cross for son of Joe. Incredible vision from SOD to find the pass to Lawless then Craigan. Aaron Muirhead quick thinking to get past his man and give himself time to find Erskine, but only Erskine could have won that ball back for Lawless when it looked like move over. Craigan out on the wing beating his man in style, ok fortunate break to get past the second guy but a perfect early cross and the Doolan/Erskine interplay was just a masterpiece. Sinclair with his signature flick when the defender has know idea which way he's going to find Doolan with a lovely ball. Shame to lose the clean sheet thing (unfortunate Welsh slip) but it's unimportant in the big scheme of things. Didn't think it was a pen at the game but studying highlights defo arms up to block the shot which I reckon was net bound.
  13. Just read that, brilliant news.
  14. The promotion season from the 2nd Div 2005/6 we were crap. Dick Campbell just couldn't make us a team, yet on paper we had some decent players Arthur, Boab, Strachan, Gibson (no not Jimmy,Billy), Marko. So much frustration that season. My boy's first ever match at 6 months old, 2 up against Ayr, (great Marko goal) and then had to hang on for an undeserved draw. The match seemed to sum up the season for me, especially when Grant Murray went to take a throw in from the rugby line marking to much hillarity. I remember seeing us lose to Peterhead at Firhill and then after losing to Stranraer at Firhill somehow scraped it away (playoff) and had Peterhead (playoff final) at Firhill again where we managed to play pish against a crap team and loose to them yet again throwing away a lead at home. I was so pissed off I held no hope at all based on what I had seen that we could turn it around up there and didn't go as I had had my fill of being pissed off. Done myself out of a cracker as it was our turn to come back from a goal down, grab an injury time lead to take it extra time then when on penalties in what has to be a daylight robbery of a promotion season. I can't remember how many points we finished behind 2nd placed Morton but the real bonus of that season was being pish finishing 4th and going up instead of them It turned out to be a lucky season and I guess you take it when you can get it. My daughters first game was vefore her first birthday and was the famous 5-1 destruction of Falkirk an the Miles Hogarth comedy moment. In fact it took my kids a fair while to see Thistle get beat, so you will be pleased to know my boy won the half-time draw st the Dumbarton game to be the lucky mascot for the cup final. To say this 7 year old is excited is an understatement, he even made a presentation in school all about it Looking forward to the day and the party in GrantB's hoose! he says you are all more than welcome
  15. Great gesture by the club and well done for doing this. Anyone seeing alterior motives in this needs a sanity check. As if the sum Dunfermline will receive from this will make the difference between survival or not. The days of Save The Jags are all too fresh in my memory so I wish the Dunfermline fans all the best and hope they still have a club at the other end of this.
  16. ^^Bang on. I spoke to McN after what turned out to be his last game in charge. He completely played dumb about heading to Tannadice as he is entilied to do. He then pops up at our game at East End Park rubbing it in like he hadn't seen the players enough but as he's entiled to do. He now throws a spanner into the works all the way from Dungdee at arguably our most important series of matches in recent history with this pre-contract shenanigans again as he is entilted to do. I harboured no ill feeling when he first departed, only dissapointment but given the above manouverings he has went seriously down in my estimations. He is someone I have lost respect for as he is clearly not influenced or guided by moral considerations......as I am entitled to do.
  17. You said bad signings, bad luck and bad tactics are hardly the fault of the board. Funnily enough, with a more effective board the chances of good signings, players good enough to adopt the managers tactics and good luck tend to increase rapidly. I was just surprised at yuor statement that you failed to see that these are clearly inextricably linked.
  18. If you can't see the correlation between these things and the BoD then that's frankly bizzare.
