Everyone agrees the club are getting it right on the marketing front but football is a different beast from other products. It's more about emotional buy in, locality as well as value for money once you are there. For me, the big opportunity now is down to the supporters actively encourage mates & lapsed fans to come along as well as generally spreading the word about what a unique and great club we are in many ways. If you have a free seat in a car, try and fill it, if someone is up for a couple of pints and a crack bring them along. Logistically making it easy and emotionally making it easy to be part of something is the key I feel.

I thought we were the better team. In fact a couple of Celts said the same to me outside the ground. I still can't believe we lost it. Solid performance and an incredible support that outsang the self-proclaimed best fans in the world. If only that Dools chance hadn't went wide, it would have been so different.

Sevco are considerably worse. I can't stand the religious crap of both but with Sevco it's a more bitter, scummy violent thing. Walking round Celtic Park yesterday before and after the match I had no worries at all in showing my colours, in fact I had a decent chat with random Celtic fans and it was exactly the way it should be. Celtic still play the victim, but I think Celtic are evolving quicker than their Govan counterparts.

Great thread. Surprised Maurice Johnston has not had a mention. Ok he had the revolving scarf thing but he was a goals machine for us and lit up a decidedly dodgy early 80s team. He went on to bang in a few for Scotland after us. We messed up on the contract front selling to Watford for 200k only for Celtic to pay 400k a season later and we had no sell on fee. Anyway, my choice is actually Roughie. Loved him then and love him now. He still talks fondly of his time at Thistle and remains a great ambassador. Loved hearing his story recently of getting a bus to pre match lunch before '71 final and it was full of Celtic fans. Always thought he would have made a great manager for us but he didn't seem to have ambition outside Glenafton. I recall taking a penalty against him to win a football when I was 7 or so, Dalmuir Park I think, and not being too disappointed when he saved it.

FYI the BBC political bias is an empirically proven thing. I don't give a monkeys if you are interested or not, but you brought it up, you rabid unionist troll and I'll look forward to the day when Scotland is a normal independent country. Back to the football, the BBC football bias has always been there imho but I saw it more as the old firm dominating and the rest of us being largely ignored. I don't think Thistle lose out any more than anyone else. A major problem now with the beeb is they have got rid of so many Scottish staff and shipped up bodies from down South, I just don't think they have staff with much of a clue, so coverage is substantially worse now as the poor volume is the same as ever but the accuracy and professionalism has declined.

I take my 2 kids and sometimes 1 other to spread the word. I'm perfectly happy with the club policy here.

I don't know you but it sounds like your not sticking with the issue at all, in fact the opposite looks to be true. I don't know Ian or PT either for that matter but for what it's worth, their views, seem to be in tune with the majority of Thistle fans and it's great to see passionate Jags fans 'step up' when it matters. I think you have both handled yourselves brilliantly and can be proud of your actions, and if the inevitable 1 or 2 posters try to undermine this fact (for whatever reason) then they should be considered at best a small minority opinion. Back to topic, as a fan who takes his kids to the JH, I will be eternally thankful to the NS choir for the atmosphere in Firhill that my kids get to experience. We try to take inspiration from this in the JH and join in and it's interesting to see how some singing is even instigated in the JH these days but it all feeds from the enthusiasm of the NS. I will pledge full support to the NS patrons and their chosen course of action as the 'new shed' is a key instigator to the future growth of our club. Besides we are all Thistle fans and want the best for our club, regardless of where we sit.

Well the baseless statement on the website will only galvanise my resolve to take a stance. I don't sit in the NS but I'm 100% behind a stance/boycott (as much as it goes against the grain to say it). "imperative that supporters face as little disruption possible" bullshit, listen to what supporters want and don't fecking try to say this being done in our name. "it is clear that there is really only one option that will give us a sustainable seating plan" bullshit, put way fans in the main stand, there, one other option of several. Even giving up the NS for the Celtic matches (although I disagree with this also) is far more palatable. This whole thing stinks, and is as embarrassing as it is insulting. This senseless decision should be reversed IMMEDIATELY. The key to PTFCs sustainable economic growth is our own fan base, not someone else's. This act is completely counter-intuitive. Keep the North Stand Red and Yellow.

It's a shocker about the NS, it would be nice to know the reasoning behind the decision. IM and PT, it's a tough gig you guys got for sure taking on the burden of this news. Please feel free to share the burden by letting us know the reasoning from Maxy. Until we know that, we have half a story. We have a bunch of angry people and we are starting petitions and planning actions based on scant fact. Granted, I put my name to both petitions as that's reasonable at this stage but if the fan base is to organise and unite in a solid stance we need to do it from the most educated standpoint with as much clarity and lack of confusion as possible. I sit in JH with my kids but I'm a shed veteran and witnessed first hand the demise in atmosphere, contributing to the downfall of the club. For me, the 'new shed' in the NS (and more specifically, the people in it) has been the single most important factor in the reversal of our clubs fortunes, as without it the demise would have continued towards the inevitable. I believe further growth of the club is inextricably linked to the experience on match days. Without getting carried away and until we are furnished with the facts, yes, it is a business but the main assets are the fans and if the board fail to realise this then they are not fit to run this business. PTFC have the best opportunity in decades to move forward but only if the fans (who have already saved our club not so long ago) needs are prioritised. Keep the NS red and yellow. This is our club. Edited to add, I just read your reply PT after I posted. Thanks for letting us know, and ouch! that's a sore one to take. So it's not good enough to inconvenience our supporters for the Celtic matches, but to save the 'back office' inconvenience the fans should be shafted permanently. Ludicrous and absolutely unacceptable as well as short-sighted, for a club to treat it's supporters like this.
