  1. Recently the Archive has reported on 2 games which, in my view (and I still recall them) had disappointing endings to triumphant evenings - namely winning the 2nd Division (old) title against Queen's Park in 1971 and winning the Glasgow Cup against some other Glasgow team in 1981. In both instances no post-match victory celebrations occurred. As I recall after the QP game there was actually an announcement which specifically told the fans (almost all of whom had stayed in the ground) to, and I quote "go home!". Whilst at the 1981 game, as reported today - the presentation was made in the tea-room to presumably preclude any reaction from the defeated club's supporters (frankly they probably didn't give a monkey's in any case). It would be nice to think that such situations, as regards the precluding of the celebration of a PTFC triumph wouldn't happen nowadays (albeit perhaps the probability of any triumph occurring is perhaps less likely).
  2. Just a wild guess based on nothing in particular, but could the mystery player - front row, furthest right - be John Wright an ex-Clyde goalie who was apparently with us for a short while in 1972.?
  3. Goal up but quickly equalised! Must admit to having respect for Glasgow City - trailblazers for the women's game until the bigot twins came along with their money (and effectively financially doping the league - but hey ho!). Now 3-1 down !!! Finished 4-1.
  4. Other Jag might be Brian Whittaker (who also went over to the Green side)
  5. On a totally unrelated theme has anyone any idea why a yellow PTFC flag and purple-ish Partick Thistle Foundation flag were flying over the Jackie Husband this morning? Just curious and given the strength of the wind I hope they weren’t shredded.
  6. Julian Broddle? For the first one and with Roughie perhaps John MacDonald of the now defunct Glasgow Rangers. The clue being that he is lying down feigning injury.
  7. Two things strike me about the hat-trick list - and it's been said before about them. The Roxburgh one is almost forgotten because of Dan McLindon's solo effort and the Jimmy Bone one against East Fife is probably overshadowed by Denis's 45 yard screamer. Seems a shame for Roxburgh and Bone as regards quantity being eclipsed by quality.
  8. We took 7 points and shelled 4 points to them this season so probably a reasonable return?
  9. What gave it away was the self-righteous posing of the officials who were probably enjoying their moment of unnecessary officiousness after the final whistle.
  10. Is it Eddie Prudham about to be sent off after a 1-1 draw at Pittodrie?
  11. Have never started a match thread before I presume that victory will bring me kudos for doing so and defeat will pile derision and unbounded bile upon me. A chance for 4 wins in a row and revenge for the televised torture of a few weeks back? Mind the weather and beware the possibilities of the Forth Crossing being impacted by high winds for all those attending. PS I apologise for calling us “Partick” in the thread title but it kinda went with Pars !!
  12. Allyo An unintentional "mantra" - although looking back I take your point - I will try to be less predictable in my predictions in future!
  13. Arbroath are really drinking in the last chance saloon but judging by their comeback against Raith a couple of weeks ago they are still pretty capable, so perhaps tomorrow will be very tight - would take a point tbh. Also weather might play a part?
  14. Result will obviously depend on when Morton score their goal(s)!!!
  15. Today’s rain might have helped the pitch or at least made it less bad
  16. Take a point - keeps us above them for a week
  17. Will we be in the Championship to join them?
  18. Tbh Arsenal Porto and Barca Napoli aren’t hugely better than what passes for football on BBC Scotland!
  19. Think I might watch the Champions League! Dire stuff so far - poor pitch, lacklustre play - what was Fitzpatrick thinking about?
  20. Still 0-0 into the second half last time I looked.
