  1. TOTALLY agree! Sorry for shouting, but I'll continue to do so until he gets in. I know he's already in via the 71 team but he surely deserves his own place. One of our longest serving and classiest players, and yes, my hero too, along with King Denis.
  2. I'd welcome that though, and use it to promote values totally opposed to the ugly sisters, ideally grinding them into the dust. Who am I kidding though? The bigots know they're bigoted and revel in it, though I'd hope to attract hundreds of thousands of the fair minded along to a new and vibrant Firhill, taking on the cream of Europe, preventing the uglies from ever getting near the Chumps League again, and...and... (Nurse!!!!! Nurse!!!!! The screens!!!!! Bring sedation!!!!!)
  3. I was at the first two games and remember them well. Not sure about the 3rd but my abiding memory is several Jags fans around me applauding Ian Ferguson's (no, not THAT Ian Ferguson) goal (1st goal in game 1). I clapped too, but with a sigh. We were delighted when Ian Cameron equalised with another cracker though. That reminds me of the other Ian Ferguson, the ugly scumbag Ian Ferguson, when playing for Rangers at Firhill. A Rangers player went down and we knocked the ball out of play to allow treatment. Rangers knocked the ball back to us, down into the corner, and Ian Ferguson chased it down, and forced us to knock it out for a rangers throw, in a dangerous position. I'm still boiling at the memory. Oh yes, the Rangers manager Walter Smith (I think) was quizzed about that after the game, with the suggestion that it was unsporting. That got what is now known as the Arsene Wenger response. I didn't see it.......bassas..... Anybody else remember that?
  4. Anybody with any sense knows that investing in a football club is throwing your money down a black hole. Having said that, only 1 of the 114 would make a huge difference to us. I guess his business sense rules his head, and we can just dream on. If I ever won big on the lottery I'd give Thistle a chunk but keep quiet about it as I'd get nothing but grief otherwise, and become the devil incarnate to a lot of supporters. It would be nice to have that chance one day, but I'm not holding my breath.
  5. Doesn't worry me at all. He'll bring plenty of his own in to the job. Initially I didn't like the idea of promoting players to boss, with recent sour memories (Derek Whyte of course) but now I'm optimistic. He's untested though, so only time will tell.
  6. I'm sure that some club(s) have banned players from golf as.....it's an injury risk? Can't remember for sure, but could it have been Souness while at Ibrox? Then there are these: http://www.birmingham.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=217171 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/article-512533/Golf-ban-blowing-Grove-course.html
  7. Seems a bit silly to be going for a predominantly yellow jersey when we're sponsored by a bee....in hoops, which seem a perfect fit for our traditional yed n yellow hoops. Let's see anyway.
  8. On the subject of Greaves, I hope they deliver on their Jags tartan scarves promise, as discussed here more than once. If not then I'll be asking.
  9. Yes, you're right I think, but what I meant was that there was talk of us going back to the 71 jersey for the anniversary of the LC win, and this might be an attempt to do that, with a twist. Anyway. let's see. One season of this is ok but after this I'd be happy to get back to the hoops. By ra way, did anybody else like the "half red / half yellow" v-neck top that we had a few years back? I always did, and wear that one around the house sometimes. It's not much use on a cold day though.
  10. I don't mind it personally. It seems to be a link back to the early 70s all yellow with some wee stripes thrown in. It will do for me, and we've had plenty worse, not least last season's pink camouflage monstrosity. Possibly our worst ever kit. I wonder what our away kit will be, but I hope they retain the dark blue centenary top if only for occasional use.
  11. He tried hard and I was kinda fond of him but I never thought Pee Tee was very impressive. A toucan? Never made much sense to me really.
  12. Sorry to go over old ground and off topic, but doesn't that just sum so much up? We can't compete with Dundee, who are barely out of administration and should be operating as if they had both legs broken. We've done our best to live within our means, unlike Dundee, Motherwell and others, and where are we, and where are they? Sucks the big one, as Frank once said.
  13. Same here, so unless I was a crow (In which case I know where I'd park my breakfast, on the wing) Thistle are my local team, and the next time I move I'm moving closer. The other side of the river is another country.
  14. First time I've seen that, and I wish I hadn't. What a shambles. For fexake, if they're going to do a video and put it up then they should do it properly. Thank f nobody saw it.
  15. Apparently they're going to replay the match. WTF? It might have been a strange goal but it did go in so why would they order a replay? That's even more crazy than the original incident.
  16. Here's another version or two. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJJ2RZEtztE&annotation_id=annotation_74445&feature=iv http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlC4bErzzkU
  17. Exactly what I thought when I read the story.
  18. I always thought he was a useless radio commentator. He also used to be ridiculously biased any time he commentates on anything Celtic, though he may have toned that down recently, a tiny bit. I was glad to hear he recovered from his near death but he's not welcome back on my radio waves. Mind you, he's not the only tw*t with a mic. It would be easier for me if he went to Radio Clyde's Superscoreboard, which is unlistenable anyway, especially during phone ins.
  19. A fine showing against Inverness probably secured Johnny Tuffey's move there in the close season. He really kept the score down that day. Sadly he's stalled since movig there. What a waste. Now I hear reports that he's moving on.
  20. What will Doncaster say now? He said that 10 was the ONLY option. He wasn't even prepared to consider implementing any of the other suggestions, some of which are worthwhile, without the sacred 10. The honourable course would be to resign but I don't expect that. He has no credibility left at all. All his eggs were in that basket, but they're all broken now. No punfest please. This topic matters too much, and maybe they're listening now? I wish....
  21. This is way off topic but so what. I can't help it. I'm not sure if it's been mentioned elsewhere, but the circumstances of Craigan leaving us, along with Alex Burns (?) left a bitter taste that is still with me, to this day. Motherwell signed Craigan and Burns on pre-contracts when they were bottom, and way behind us, and in administration. They don't go down of course, and what happened to us next? Am I resentful? D*mn right I am. Stinks to highest heaven. One day they will go down and I look forward to it.
  22. I'm not blaming him. I'm sure he never gave himself that tag. Mind you, I remember he used to go out with Danni Behr and I always thought she was.....hot, as the kids say. When I come back in the next life I want to be a....
  23. Both were kinda instinctive, or involuntary so I'm glad neither were sent off (can you imagine the paranoia fae Parkhead if they'd gone down to 10 men and lost) but strictly speaking they probably should have been. I'm sure that some refs use their discretion and effectively ignore official guidelines. Players get sent off for sod all these days. It's not like these were hand ball on the line or anything. These kind of guidelines are ruining our game. Send them off for serious foul play please, but I believe for these kid of more trivial offences they should just pile up the yellows but not amount to automatic dismissals. Bring in another card colour, or sin bins? Dismissals can ruin games. That's just me though. P.S. I initially mistyped paranoia as papanoia. Perhaps I should have left it like that, or would that have been sectarian abuse?
  24. It's what he brought up that caused the problem. We hear this "happy family man" stuff so often of so many of these guys, but when it comes to it, and surgically enhanced airheads fall to their knees in front of you....it's no big surprise really.
  25. That makes sense to me. It looks like we're not going to get a consensus here though surely we're all united against bigotry and sectarianism.
