  1. I think that was only last season was it not? Graeme Shepard was at fault for one of the goals?
  2. Great to see we're ahead but this is the 3rd away game out of the last 4 that we have taken the lead in and we failed to hold onto the lead the previous 2 times. Time to change that today Thistle, lets build on this lead and get the 3 points!
  3. Elliot on for O'donnel. Are we going for it? We dont want to be too gung-ho though.
  4. Official site says Cairney scored the goal. Are they wrong? What was the goal like?
  5. How long is Jackie contracted for? I don't remember his contract length ever being disclosed when we appointed him as manager. BTW I think all this talk of getting rid of him is way too premature. It may not sound too ambitious but I think as long as we dont end up in the bottom 2 it will have been a successful first season for Macnamara, especially when you consider our past record with rookie managers. We must look to improve next season though..
  6. We've finally scored against Raith, lets hope we can now go on and finally get 3 points against them
  7. Dont think i would play the 2 on loan from Rangers. After what has happened there since the start of the week.I dont think they will be in the right frame of mind.
  8. I emailed Ian Maxwell to ask if those of us in the disabled section can make use of this offer and he said he would make sure there were some of the tickets availible in the Aitken Suite. Are you the guy who usually deals with the tickets for the disabled section at the Aitken Suite reception? My dad who is also my carer buys our tickets from here before each match and will be coming in tomorrow to purchase the two game ticket.
  9. I hope we dont get Winalot as our new sponsor, because we might get done under the Trades Descriptions Act!
  10. Well folks its finally happened, my black away Thistle top has broken its duck! After feeling close to burning it a few times, we have finally won an away match when Im wearing that strip So looks like I'lll need to find something else to get superstitious about on matchdays now!
  11. Since I bought the new black Thistle away strip in the summer, I have worn it every week Thistle are playing away apart from one match, and we have yet to win a single game while I have worn it. The one away game I didnt wear it for was the Dundee game which I went to. So maybe its hexed I thought. But today I thought, surely when we're only playing a diddy junior team I can safely wear the black strip and finally see that Thistle have won a game while Im wearing it? I should have known better, the strip is clearly CURSED! So I'm sorry folks, the blame for todays result doesnt lie with the players or the coaching staff, its clearly all my fault (or the strip's fault!)! Who wants to help me burn it?
  12. I second that. Would any of the excellent Nomad hosts consider coming out of retirement?
  13. Being one of those wheelchair users myself I feel I should give my opinion on this. I believe the club have a limit on the number of people who are allowed into the disabled section which is probably for health and safety reasons. But another problem I would have if the enclosure was filled with people standing is that I would have a very restricted view of the on-field action because all those standing are much taller than those of us sitting in wheelchairs and would block my view. At the moment I have to occassionally ask people to stand back a bit so I can see; if the enclosure was full of able-bodied people it would be impossible for everyone to stand back! You make a good point Allan about us not being able to sit amongst the rest of the Jags fans. Having the disabled section in the enclosure has it's good points and bad points. Its great being able to be so close to the action on the pitch that you can sometimes hear what the players and referee are saying to each other, and I feel I get a better view sometimes than some fans get in the JH stand. But the negatives are that whenever there are big away supports they open up the main stand and it means I have to put up with being surrounded by opposition fans which isnt a great feeling especially when we are playing the old firm and you cant escape the "atmosphere" they create, so being able to sit in the JH stand would remove this issue. Another small gripe I have is that sometimes us fans sitting in the Main Stand are not acknowledged. For example when the U19s were parading their SFL Youth Cup trophy they only did it in front of the supporters in the JH stand, and PeeTee used to come over to the main stand enclosure to acknowledge us pre-match whereas the new mascot does not. As I say thats just a small gripe but it would be a nice gesture all the same. I remember a couple of seasons ago Jim Alexander had mentioned to us in the main stand that there was talking of installing a lift in the JH stand so they could create a disabled section there, but I would imagine this would be a very costly exercise which wouldnt be feasible in the current economic climate.
  14. Is anybody worried that this loss of £100k per annum could cause serious problems for the club, ie. going part time, having to scrap the youth system etc? In my opinion, every other First Division club remains full time (apart from Ayr I assume?) even though most of them have smaller crowds than us (as it stands we have the third highest average attendances so far this season) and none of them have the benefit of the extra income we get from the Warriors. So if these clubs can get by without this extra income, surely there's no reason why we cant as well?
  15. Ive been having discussions with my dad about this very point since yesterday. My dad feels the same as you Jaggernaut, but I feel that if we are just looking to avoid finishing in the bottom 2 places in this division, then Friday's match is not a must win for us, a draw would be acceptable (although I naturally hope we stuff them!). If on the other hand we were looking to challenge then yes after yesterday's result this game becomes a must win. My dad however feels it is a must win game because of our terrible away record under McNamara, which puts pressure on us not to drop many points at home, and because this league is so tight it means the bottom 2 teams will probably end up with a relatively high points total, so we cant afford to go on a bad run. Whilst I do see his points, I feel it is far too early in the season to call this type of game must win. If we get a point next Friday and then follow it up with 3 or 4 points from the Raith (A) and Falkirk (H) matches I feel we have nothing to worry about.
  16. Right on the edge of the box! I wonder if it even was a penalty, this is getting ridiculous
  17. It seems very end to end at the moment. We need to start taking our chances or else the confidence will start to drain away. On another note why isn't Shaun Fraser getting a look in? Surely tonight was the perfect opportunity with Doolan carrying a knock. We keep talking about the good young players but Mcnamara isnt giving them a chance so far this season. Fraser looked very promising last season but he hasnt been in the squad at all and Bannigan has been dropped in favour of Cairney who isnt playing well. They must be wondering what they have to do to get a chance at the moment.
  18. 0-0 at half time for anyone whos interested. Weve had a few half chances but Hamilton had quite a few good chances towards the end of the half, Simon Mensing missing right in front of the Thistle goal after a corner was poorly defended. Does the lack of posts in this thread reflect the apathy most of us have for this tournament?
  19. I don't know if McNamara will be any good, because I once played him at Fifa and beat him. Does this mean I should apply for the job? But seriously, many clubs these days, both north and south of the border, seem to appoint inexperienced untried managers. Just look at our league, the likes of Jim McIntyre at Dunfermline, John Mcglynn at Raith, Kenny Brannigan at QOS and Barry Smith at Dundee are all in their first managerial posts and yet they have all done very well. And look at Hereford in League Two, they appointed the club physio as their manager and even he has done a good job! So why is it when we take a risk on people who have never managed a club before such as GC and Whyte & Britton, does it always fail spectacularly? I am not that keen on going down the untried manager route again because of our past failures, but if Jackie does get the job I obviously hope that it does work out. But if it does work out its about time that we have success with an inexperienced manager because it seems to work out for so many other teams.
  20. Second half now underway. Come on Thistle lets come back from behind for once.
  21. Buggers! Why do we always have to do things the hard way? Still take nothing away from what is an excellent 3 points. Watch out Falkirk, we're comin for ya!
  22. Is anyone in contact with someone who is at the game? Its gone all quiet on the OS.
