  1. I won't hear a word against that nice Mr Collum. Any referee who can cope with the red hot cauldron that is Tannadice during a pulsating cup-tie and still find time to tell a Thistle player to sort his sock get's my vote. The European Championships are in safe hands.
  2. I remember being at Fir Park in the late 70s when Roger Hynd was their manager (or it might have been the early 80s/Jock Wallace). The Motherwell players stood at the tunnel and were introduced one by one as they ran on. It was a gimmick that never caught on.
  3. Firhill has a public address system????
  4. You've done this one before Stu. #309 13 January last year. Bobby Donnelly, Bobby Henderson, Jimmy McGrory.
  5. Subject to revision... It looks like Chic was sent off a total of 3 times. 1994-95 saw him sent off twice - once in the League Cup (v Aberdeen) and once in the League (v Hearts). The other s/o was v Ayr United 1989/90.
  6. Reply from ICT confirms this applies to all supporters. They also provided a phone number to use if I wanted to pay in advance!
  7. #2358 looks like Craigan, Collins, Gibson and Fleming celebrating the cup win at Dens 6/2/02.
  8. Wasn't it the case that the Japanese Emperor visited the UK in 1921 and 1971? Get on to their embassy quick and find out how his diary looks.
  9. Just for you m'lady... 1 appearance as a sub (friendly debut) 212 at right back 7 at right half 11 and centre half 14 at outside right 57 and centre forward.
  10. 57 games (21 goals) with No 9 on his shirt. Thistle turned him into a full back. The complete reverse of Any Kerr.
  11. Is this not a bit of a shambles? Neither fish nor foul. I will stand corrected if I've missed something but the OS as part of their promoting the sale of advance tickets doesn't say it's all ticket. Nor can I find a reference to a cash gate on the night - although I'm sure I knew this from somewhere last week. Now were are also being told that there won't be a cash gate if we sell out our allocation. If demand continues it looks like fans who decided to pay on the night could be locked out. Either a game is all ticket or it's not. Internet purchase of tickets is confusing the issue.
  12. Have e-mailed the club to see if the arrangements apply to both sets of supporters. No reply as yet.
  13. Penalty paranoia? 30 penalties awarded against Rangers in 340 matches = a penalty awarded every 11 matches. (11/37% missed.) With the same health warnings, I looked at 3 old rivals to compare with the Rangers figures:- KILMARNOCK 19 penalties in 242 matches = 1 every 13 matches. (3/16% missed.) MOTHERWELL 21 penalties in 247 matches = 1 every 12 matches. (8/38% missed.) DUNDEE 23 penalties in 231 matches = 1 every 10 matches. (8/35% missed.) A bit rough and ready but on the basis of these figures penalties against Rangers are no less frequent.
  14. Agreed. My typo. Not Melrose (who was tripped). Hansen scored with the penalty.
  15. Ignoring penalty shoot-outs and taking all matches into account... I cannot say with absolute certainty that these figures are correct because some match reports are either missing or incomplete but in 340 matches v Rangers since 1880, Thistle have been awarded at least 30 penalties. These are:- 5/12/1898 SFL 0-5 missed 16/8/1900 F 2-2 Campbell 8/11/1902 SFL 2-4 Massie 15/5/1905 GCC 5-0 Gray 1/5/1908 GCC 1-3 Gray 3/1/1911 SFL 2-2 McGregor 11/12/1928 DC 2-0 Torbet 2/1/1929 SFL 0-1 missed 2/1/1932 SFL 0-4 missed 6/5/1935 GCC 1-0 missed 3/1/1938 SFL 3-1 McKennan 15/10/1938 SFL 1-4 McKennan 29/8/1939 GC 1-4 Wallace 14/11/1942 SL 1-4 missed and Curran 30/9/1946 SFL 3-2 Sharp 11/1/1947 SFL 0-4 missed 7/5/1947 GCC 0-4 missed 22/12/1951 SFL 1-3 Davidson 16/10/1954 SFL 2-5 Mathers and Mathers 13/9/1958 SFL 1-2 Mathers 24/8/1960 SFL 3-6 Donlevy 2/1/1965 SFL 1-1 missed 9/9/1972 SFL 1-2 Forsyth 15/3/1977 PDIV 4-3 Melrose 23/5/1978 PDIV 0-1 missed 25/8/1979 PDIV 2-1 McAdam 20/3/1982 PDIV 1-4 missed 13/7/2008 SC 0-2 missed SC = Scottish Cup GCC = Glasgow Charity Cup DC = Dental Cup GC = Glasgow Cup Notice there were 2 brave referees who awarded 2 pens in a match!
  16. 6 August 1980. Jackson was indeed sent off for numerous fouls on McLeod (Billy). Thistle came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 with goals from Higgins, Gibson and O'Hara but lost out 5-4 on aggregate. The ref blew for time exactly on 90 mins just as Thistle looked like taking the tie to extra time.
  17. Interesting that neither the Scotsman nor the Glasgow Herald reports on the match mention this. The Dundee Courier merely says Bowie was "in the pavilion" when Thistle scored. The Sunday Post says he went off to change a torn jersey. In Jan 1943 the Daily Record's recap of the game says that Bowie had to leave the field "because the elastic of his breeks broke".
  18. Wasn't at the game but from all reports he applauded the Hearts' fans at the end - exactly the same as Higginbotham did to Thistle fans when he was substituted at Rugby park a few weeks ago.
  19. 4 March 1995. Hearts at home. Abandoned (snow) after 56 mins at 0-0. Won 3-1 when eventually played. The next 3 abandoned games were down to... floodlight failure, Aberdeen home 9/4/96 39 mins fog, Cowdenbeath away 26/2/13 70 mins and waterlogged pitch St Johnstone home 14/12/13 half- time.
  20. Thanks. In that case it's either March or April. He's not listed in the first match.
  21. Mo Johnston v Dundee. He played 3 times against them but unless there are any advert spotters out there or anyone who can identify either of the Dundee players, can't narrow it down any further. 7/11/81 1-2 (H) or 27/3/82 0-2 (H) or 21/4/82 2-1 (A)
  22. Looks like George Smith to me too although it might just be Joe McBride. Airdrie at Firhill 30 Dec 1961? . A 1-0 win. Gray Hogan Brown Harvey McKinnon Cunningham Ewing McBRIDE Smith Duffy McParland
  23. I should point out that the run of 663 games took Thistle up to their first league 1-0 win. It came on their 78th league fixture. Must change the cooking sherry!
  24. Correct. Hamilton then Airdrie Feb 2013. Thistle have registered 283 1-0 league wins. 2 consecutive wins being achieved 24 times. Thistle had played 663 league games before their first 1-0 win in Oct 1897. They once went 195 league games without a 1-0 win (Nov 1924 to Dec 1929. There are only 4 examples of 3 back to back 1-0 league wins... October/Nov 1904/05 Dec/Jan 1915/16 Mar 1967/68 Aug 1991/92
