When I was a youngster playing in goal (leather footballs that weighed about a stone) I believed that there was a finite number of balls that could get past me in a day so the more that went in in the warm-up the less that could go in during the game.
Some days it was obviously an infinite number.
Way back in time, 50's, the Tallies always had pie and mushy marrowfat peas with lots of malt vinegar.

There was also an Evening News same owners as the Record I think (printed in Kemsley House in Hope St???) and another morning paper The Bulletin sister to the Herald.
On my 4200km trip through the Rockies and Prairies I was in "No service" areas most of the time. I had to use Pay Phones. You will be OK in the cities for mobiles but will find it difficult to find a pay phone as they are being withdrawn in the cities because most people use cell phones.
Best tow use two tin cans and a roll of twine.
