  1. Ooh, blaze pitches. I remember falling on one of them at school and it took most of the skin off both my knees and elbows. Good riddance to the things!
  2. It means that instructions don't come from the horse's mouth and decisions take longer, but it's not the punishment it once was.
  3. Kenny Shiels certainly talks a lot of rubbish, but the world needs folk like him who stick two fingers up at the establishment. Makes the game more entertaining at least. Unfortunately, Jackie was sent off well into the 2nd half against Hamilton.
  4. considering there's probably going to be >4000 tickets I wouldn't worry too much. Not all season ticket holders will use both of their tickets, and they can only get so many people into hospitality. Realistically, there will be at least 2000 tickets on general sale, which should be enough for everyone.
  5. What's it like supporting Partick Thistle? What's in the psyche of a Jags fan? You have to be able to accept that things won't always go well, but that makes the good times even more special. It's a small, but exceptionally loyal, community which is great to be part of. What is your most treasured memory of being a Thistle supporter? Probably when I returned to supporting after a few years. It was like coming home, even though things weren't going well at the time. What are your feelings towards the Old Firm? Especially the Rangers débâcle. I have no time for the baggage which comes with both of them, but I'm friends with fans of both sides and they're good people. Unfortunately, a minority of morons ruin things. The Rangers saga was entertaining to say the least. Thistle are top of the league and in a cup final. How do you feel about how the season is progressing? What's changed this year? Will there be success at the end of it? It's a good season and I believe we can go all the way, but there are plenty of tests to come. We need to deal with teams digging in and defending, but if we do that then only an exceptional team will stop us. The change hasn't been monumental, but we're much more of an attacking threat this season, with players who are unplayable when on form. Finally, what are your thoughts after the game against Dunfermline at the weekend? We were unfortunate and deserved something from it, but these things happen and, to use a cliché, we really can focus on the league.
  6. Don't quote me on this, but I think it's the Main stand and the City end (bing) we don't own. I'm not sure what this means in practice though.
  7. I don't really care who it is, as long as they do a decent job. I believe Joma make Queen's Park's excellent kits, so I certainly wouldn't be complaining if they get the deal, and if it means cheaper prices then all the better.
  8. I suspect they mean the new strip supplier to replace Puma next season. That's been mentioned in the last couple of programmes so now seems the right kind of time.
  9. I wasn't even aware of their existence until I read the programme on the bus back at the weekend. Complete opposite to the calendar people, who sell at the entrance to both stands before the match, and go around at half time too.
  10. I've always liked Erskine, but this is the first season I've been truly impressed by him. At his best he's unplayable and capable of setting up and scoring goals, as always, but he has very few truly bad games these days. There are some days (like yesterday) when very little works for him, but he still busts a gut and is capable of those moments of magic which can turn a game. Even if we're promoted I doubt we'll keep him, so I think we should enjoy him while he's here.
  11. Maybe, but we would be screaming for it had it been the other way. Swings and roundabouts and all that.
  12. I though 3,197 was a very good attendance considering that we played them 3 weeks ago, it's absolutely baltic weather (I nearly met my death twice on the Maryhill Road pavement) and that it'll be featured on the TV tonight.
  13. I feel we were unlucky to lose that, but it was just one of those days. Don't think Muirhead can have any complaints because Dargo will always go down in that position, and Aaron has to go by the letter of the law. The penalty was a very decent one which would have gone in 99 times out of 100, but it was some save from Gallacher to keep it out. In fact, both keepers had excellent games in a game which could easily have finished 3-2. Special mention to Hugh Murray, who was an absolute liability until he was taken off. I counted at least five times he gave the ball away in a dangerous area, which simply isn't good enough.
  14. It asks some pretty arcane questions, but covers pretty much all the major issues over time. Well worth doing, though I must question whether the SFA (or anyone else for that matter) will listen to a word we say.
  15. Dammit! I just went on Steam and clicked on "buy". Oh well.
  16. I always hate managing my favourite team in case I screw up. Still, I bought FM 2012 for £20 (yes, I am that cheap) and I've got East Stirling at the top of the 3rd division at around mid-season. Knocked Queen of the South out the league cup and gave Kilmarnock a scare in the next round, which was satisfying.
  17. I can believe that. I can see maybe around 750-odd coming through for this one, not as many as the league, but still a good number. I think hitting 3000 isn't out of the question. Does the club get any money for this being a featured game on Sportscene?
  18. Cheers. I've changed/fixed a couple of little things since I put it up (specifically, the score screen actually shows the score, and the replays come a few seconds later), and something horrible happened to the quality somewhere along the line, but I'm glad people like it.
  19. Well, the conversation above got me thinking, so I've spent the evening improving (I hope) the editing. I used the footage from the Thistle website, but added a few things like replays, a team sheet and a results screen at the end. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWAV8Bp04JM&feature=youtu.be edit: I couldn't work out how to embed from YouTube. edit: The results screen should show the score in place of the "vs". Too late to do anything about it now.
  20. I can see Dunfermline being quite defensive after the spanking we gave them, but we also have the quality to get the job done. We're long overdue a run in the big cup, and I think we have the potential to go far this season. Which is to say we'll get Hamilton away in the next round and go out to an 89th minute wondergoal.
  21. I remember reading that his height caused major problems for opposing defences when he was at Rovers. Not just because he's a logical target, but because he's so tall and the defence are so aware of his aerial threat they get distracted, allowing someone else to sneak in and score. He could be a really handy player against some of the stubborn defences we'll come up against this season (Falkirk, Hamilton, Cowden, etc.) if we're 70 minutes in and stumped.
  22. To be honest, our kit doesn't seem to be that bad. The picture quality is decent (not HD like Livi's, and it's 4:3 rather than 16:9, but good enough) and it's clearly a good camera because zoom and sound quality are excellent. Buying a new, HD professional camera would likely cost > £2000, which is probably more than the club has to spend on stuff like that. To be honest, it's the editing which lets our coverage down. It's nice to get a team sheet at the start and a final score/goalscorers at the end at least, and it's something we don't have. I don't think it would be difficult to add either. There's an amazing piece of software called Openshot, which is a free and open source video editor, which could add that stuff.
  23. I would agree with that. I think they could be thereabouts in March/April if they can take their play and add a cutting edge to it, and probably should challenge next season. Like us last season, in fact.
  24. I got it on my phone with the main stand (and pitch, my phone's camera has no meaningful zoom) in the foreground, but Tommy's got the sky much better than I did. Either way, here it is:
