  1. Sighs of relief echo around the Partick Thistle office.
  2. Some work better than others - Taylor Sinclair > Richards Everton > Johnson Thompson (Katarina, athlete)
  3. It's testament to the quality of Archie's signings that I'm not bothered about this at all.
  4. Higgy, Higginbotham, King of the wild front three.
  5. To put our draw with Fleetwood into perspective, they are currently top of League One. Two points clear after three games. The only 100% record in the league. Two of their wins, though, have been against the current and pointless bottom two, Crewe and Lyle Taylor's Scunthorpe.
  6. A game of two halves for me, 30 years in England and 29 in Scotland. My thought take me back to Layer Road, Colchester. 1. The long walk around the terracing at half time to stand behind other goal. Seemed perfectly normal at the time. 2. The score boards being hung on the hooks below the half time letters. Invariably the important scores I was looking for remained frustratingly blank due to late kick offs. 3. Gazing forlornly through the shop window at the double LP of the match commentary from the FA Cup game when the U's beat the mighty Leeds United.
  7. The death has been announced of James Alexander Gordon, the Scot who read the football results on BBC radio for 40 years. These days we know all the results before we leave Firhill but for years Jag brought delight and despair with his, often imitated but never matched, emotive intonation. Someone on Radio 5 just said "It feels like the end of childhood" RIP Jag
  8. No, still don't get it. Can anybody clarify for the stupid among us?
  9. Struggling to make sense of that sentence tbh.
  10. To answer the question raised in the OP, like that!
  11. FFS He's only been here for two f***ing days!
  12. That was impressive, often sublime. Won't pick out any player for special mention, all immense. Congratulations Archie and Shaggy. Welcome Osman, Stevenson, Seaborne.
  13. In excess of 3,000 season tickets sold is impressive. I hope it's true and that the figures will be published on the OS (I know you're reading this).
  14. Thanks. Never thought of that! Brain smaller than I imagined!!
  15. I very much appreciate your updates on the young jags teams. However, my small brain finds it hard to follow the progress of each team when reported in an ad hoc way. Don't know about anybody else but I would find it easier if you set up separate threads for each of the teams and updated them through the season. I would hope that such valuable threads could be kept on topic. Tall order, I know! Once again, thanks for keeping me informed.
  16. "With our opening game of the new season now just a mere couple of days away we are delighted to confirm that the manager has been rewarded for his patience and his refusal to simply sign a player for the sake of it." Proof that somebody is reading this forum?
  17. I'm certainly beginning to understand the extent of some peoples hatred on this forum.
  18. Which part of billko's post was nonsense? 'Legia made a mistake'?, 'the player played no part in achieving this victory'?, 'UEFA should view it in that context'? I agree with billko on the first two points. The third is, I believe, irrelevant as UEFA rules clearly state the sanction for fielding a banned player. They had no option. What this has to do with Sevco, I fail to understand.
  19. A goal for Erskine. Pleased for him.
  20. My radio must be running slow again.
  21. Celtic should do and say nothing. Legia Warsaw have made a simple, and very costly, administrative error. UEFA have upheld the rules of the competition. There is nothing Celtic can do or say to change the situation, even if they wanted to. And why should they? What would you want Thistle to do in this scenario? Millions and millions of pounds are at stake. Celtic were sh!te. They suffered humiliation over 180 mins and we all had a good laugh. The history book, though, will show that they won on away goals before being humiliated again in the next round. Let's hope they continue to keep us amused after their hilarious gig at the Edinburgh Fringe.
