  1. killie winning today was a bad result for us but does bear out what I said about them having more than enough to escape a relegation dogfight. I also think Dundee are in a better place than us ( although yes with fewer points at the moment) because they have a better squad , have more match winners, and generally play better football. Of course I hope I'm wrong but I don't think we have great squad this year. We,ve lost our best outfield player Lindsay and really missing Sean welsh who we didnt replace. Gambling on bannigan being able to come back from a horrendous injury was indeed a risk. Still think it will be us and Hamilton fighting it out at the bottom- Hamilton also have some on their best players out injured. Btw. I fully back the manager - he has worked miracles over the last few years in terms of working within a lot of constraints and hopefully he will do it again. This however is the toughest year yet.
  2. No question it's between us , Hamilton and Dundee for bottom 2 places. Killie have enough to get a bit clear and will sign new players in January. Dundee play some good football and are in a better place than us. If I'm honest I I reckon we will be in the place off place.
  3. We over achieved last year and expectations are too high . Very unlucky with injuries to key players which we have not had in the last few years. stick with archie. - not sure any other manger would get any better with the threadbare squad we have .
  4. Killie got nearer 900k for coulibaly but also have a board willing to invest more ( they do have bigger crowds) . Got to say they are singing a lot of decent players and will be stronger this year. Must be pretty depressing for Archie seeing us outbid for any decent strikers. No way will we get storey.
  5. You having a laugh Edwards a total waster? IMO his form this season Iis one of the reasons we made top six. The lad will go onto to better things .
  6. Need to get things in perspective. Celtic were at times un playable tonight for any team in scotland.
  7. Some Swindon fans forums are reporting that Archie was interviewed for the post last week but won't be their new manager. Think he was down south last week looking at players. Hmmmmm.
  8. If Archie did go who would you want to replace him? My shortist would be Houston, elvis , Lennon Danny or Ross
  9. Big problem today was that many of the players looked shatterd after about 75 mins partly no doubt because they put so much into the game in terms of closing down etc. Thought however that we started to defend far to deeply once again. McKay picked up the goal keepers kick well into our half. We were all over the shop and at times seemed to have Barton and Abdul also playing in defence and allowed them to run the midfield.
  10. Not going to happen. If Lindsay is worth say a million then so is keown. Even if he is not kept on at his parent club he will get more lucrative offers down south.
  11. I think our low crowds are a lot due with league structure and scottish football. It's shite being in a league we are never going to win and as well as we are doing - best for many a year- we are in relegation dog fight every year and competing with the same teams in this dog fight every year. Hate to say it but I do find the years where we have been near the top of the first division competing to win something far more exciting and good fun and we attract more crowds. Battling against relegation every year I think is a turn off for a lot of thistle fans- too much a stake. I also think a bigger league would allow us to bring through more younger players which I do think would help with crowds.
  12. I see he has been with 5 different clubs and scored twice in this time with over 50 appearances. Hopefully coming to scotland will change his luck in front of goal.
  13. that would be someone like ...............erskine
  14. Killie being linked with stokes, Erwin, dean shields , stockley and also Oliver and Forbes from morton. No doubt there will be a few clubs chasing the same targets at this late stage. Out of that lot it would only be Erwin, Stockley or shields who would interest us.
  15. Big problem is we at Xmas and no one knows our best team! Hopefully tonight's set up will work. At least the management look to have decided to settle for traditional four at the back for rest of the season which I think is without doubt our best set up.
  16. dibble, on 10 December 2016 - 10:52 AM, said: My biggest issue is that we are nearly at Xmas and Archie doesn't know his best team or formation, You know this, how? I think it's very clear Archie doesn't.t know what his best team is. Apart from booth, Lindsay, Osman and welsh it's been chop and change all season. Amoo on the the left on the right , in the team or out , Eliiott at full back then left mid, lawless in and out Edwards in and out , erskine in and out - the list goes on. 3 at the back , 4 at the back. It's not last nights result that I am getting at- the level of player we have means we really need to get to a settled team and formation rather than throwing the dice every couple of weeks in the hope of something working.

  18. I thought we did ok last night and think we are definitely making progress . One player who is not doing enough for me is Doolan. Would like to see either Erskine or Amoo on from the start up front with Azeez. Azeez at least provides a physical presence up front and has pace and is putting himself in positions to score. Doolan fair enough does a power of work off the ball but rarely gets on the ball or in positions to score.
  19. I'm just shocked that we actually paid a transfer fee - when was the last time we did that?
  20. I guess I was thinking in this league the most important qualities of a centre back are dominant in the air and decent experienced defending which I think dan brought to the team. Archie can't therefore rate him that highly and reckons we could get better or do you think Hamilton were able to meet his wage demands?
  21. I don't get this at all . I thought he did a great job for us and was key for us developing a decent defensive record last year. I wonder why if the India deal fell through why we didnt want him back ?
  22. I see Danny seaborne is off to India - Mahaun Began India's oldest club. No doubt the money is good!
  23. No doubt 'guaranteed a starting place very week'.
  24. Yes would agree and yes Osman is probably guaranteed to starting place.
  25. They are not if they playing badly. You could have said at the beginning of last season that ryan was a guaranteed starter every week and was probably told that when he first signed. I still don't get the logic of your argument. If Archie has other better central defenders lined up to replace francs why did he get offered a deal?
