  1. Well, will take it as a dig at Alan Moore (personally I'd like to see Davie Hopkin in charge at Cappielow next season... 3 years of Moore probably enough) From the Morton supporters point of view, Thistle have been given a great deal of credit on the Morton forums, all taking the same line... Thistle have had a phenomenal season and deserve their success. The t-shirt thing has made a few think.. hmmm... that's a bit low. Anyway, enjoy your well earned hangovers!
  2. Well done to Thistle, a well deserved title... the best team/squad won. Good luck for next season.. it'll be tough!! Just one thing. As an outsider, as a Morton fan, the 'Kids v Experience' t-shirts were a bit of a cheap shot. It's not exactly being good winners - unnecessary. Surprised at that.
  3. Bachirou still has a year left on his contract. Not sure what the going rate for one of the better First Division midfielders would be...
  4. That is awful. Really thoughtless thing to do... amazed. Talking about raining on your parade. Ouch.
  5. Not attempting a wind-up. If Thistle were to look to Brian Graham as a striker in the SPL... then good luck to you - you'll need it! He was at Morton for a few years... his finishing was awful - he'd miss sitter after sitter. He was lazy.. and he had a bad attitude. One of my least favourite players in recent years,,, very frustrating in so many ways. He has improved, he seems a bit stronger now... but still has very limited ability. The thought of Brian Graham in the SPL... unreal.
  6. Pity you guys didn't wrap things up tonight at home. Anyway, you'll be celebrating at Falkirk, as Morton have downed tools. Wasn't aware of it until after the game last Wednesday, but Tidser had been playing with a groin strain for a few games - he was dreadful in all of them, could hardly move... and without him Morton really struggle. He didn't play on Saturday, Hardie was also out injured.. and Bachirou was taken off after 20 odd minutes with a head knock (the 7-1 on offer for a Dunfermline away win was the bet of the season!!) Think we'll be fielding a few boys in the last few games of the season.. and they're not up to much. Finally, as an outsider, the news of the departure of two of your best players is shocking... that should have been kept quiet until the summer. Bizarre. Congratulations on your success. Thistle had a stronger squad than Morton... and injuries hit us hard. Hugh Murray did his bit for you this season after all! ;-)
  7. Congrats to your team. Morton created next to nothing, which was down to some solid defending... and completely inept performances from Hardie and Tidser in the Morton midfield. We needed Tidser to control the game tonight, but he has really gone off the boil in recent weeks... and he had a shocker. Morton fans a bit bemused by the decision to start the young left back O'Ware... who ultimately lost us the game with a schoolboy error - passing aimlessly crossfield straight to a Thistle player. Hooked at half-time.. manager stuffed up there. Officials were awful at times. Hardie's challenge on Sinclair(?) early on was a definite booking.. it happened right in front of me, he took the man out with no intention of playing the ball. The linesman in front of the Morton support was laughably bad... got so many decisions wrong, mostly going against Morton in the first half, but he did even it up a bit in the second half by giving a shy to Morton after McDonald had clearly headed the ball out of play. Don't think either team played well.. very little good football on display, just lots of effort and physical stuff.. Scottish football at it's 'best'. Great turnout from both sets of fans.. although the stewarding and organisation in general was a shambles. Having opposing fans queuing beside each other to get into a game is madness. Expecting Morton to limp towards the end of the season losing a couple of games on the way. If reconstruction does get voted through for next season... we're very likely to meeting again around this time next year!
  8. People turn out for 'crunch' games. I know of many that will be going to their first away game of the season - I believe that Morton will take in excess of 2000 to Firhill. A week ago I'd have made Thistle favourites, but things have changed. Fairly optimistic.
  9. Ahh.. clever stuff. Witty, Impending implosion.
  10. It might well count for nothing, but the Morton support (and I'm assuming the players too) have taken a big boost from the Thistle performance/result. Thistle looked jaded to me, compared to what I've seen this season. I'd imagine Morton will come out and really go for it on Wednesday.. as it's a must win game. McMenamin and MacDonald are looking sharp.. Hardie to come back in after missing Saturday through suspension. A couple of injuries clearing up in time for the game. Morton support feeling a lot more optimistic about Wednesday night now.
  11. Watched the game today, the better team won... Thistle were very disappointing. I wouldn't gloat over the result, but the 'Greenock scumbags' comment is out of order. In a national cup final which club had a player send off for an act of thuggery? (the second player of the season, at least, to be sent off for head-butting) Which set of fans invaded the pitch during a televised cup final? Which of the top two teams in the First Division has by far the worst disciplinary record? Which set of fans earlier in the season booed an opposition player as he was stretchered off with a broken leg? I always used to quite like Thistle as a club, partly because I had a mate at uni that was a Thistle fan and we'd have some good banter about the games, but I also thought the Thistle support seemed a decent bunch in general.. However, I'd have to say that some of your players and an element of your support have tarnished your clubs image this season. I'm certainly not alone in thinking that.
  12. Morton have injury worries in defence. McLauchlin was forced to play today... and didn't look fit. We were also onto our third choice left-back, which again is a concern! Three of our 6 first team defenders were out injured today.. not sure who will make Wednesday. Hardie was also absent against Airdrie, but he was serving a suspension... no doubt he will start against Thistle. On a more positive note, we played some very good attacking football today.. scored 5, hit the woodwork several times, missed a few good chances - it could have been double figures. Peter MacDonald is in superb form (think that's 15 goals in 14 starts this season), he scored an excellent hat-trick before being subbed... and wrapped in cottonwool! Looking forward to next week, but certainly have concerns about our defence. It's a must win for Morton, so it should be an entertaining game... expecting a few goals! Hope your final on Sunday is a good game.... extra time would do nicely!
  13. I've seen hundreds of players turn out for Morton over the years.. and Brian Graham was one of my least favourites. By no means the worst, although he has certainly improved since he left Morton. There was just something about him, his body language/apparent attitude on the pitch... found it very difficult to like the guy! He seems to think he is a bit of a superstar... not someone that is going to do enything for team spirit. Avoid.
  14. Would be surprised if Graham said he wanted Morton to with the league. He is very unpopular with Morton fans (wasn't liked by the fans even when he was at the club, by all accounts an unpleasant and arrogant guy) and loves nothing more than rubbing it in when he scores against us. He said something to Tidser after he scored his O.G. on Saturday which Tidser was raging about.. beyond banter. Even if he was the best striker in Scotland I don't think he'd be welcome back at Cappielow. He was rotten for us anyway!
  15. Based on what I've seen I'd personally rate Reid as the best defender in the division. Ceratinly the most impressive defender Morton have had in a long time. On Tidser, he has had an outstanding season for Morton... without him we'd be mid-table. I'd rate Tidser as the best player in the division.. a view backed by a few journalists I've read/heard.
