  1. If they could avoid the delay, I wouldn't be against it continuing. Maybe I'm naive/stupid/whatever but I was thinking on Saturday that the North stand was making some noise - then I look over and what I see doesn't seem to tally with what I hear. To me the quality was good enough for me to be convinced it was coming 'live' from them. However if the intention is to try and get the JH to join in with the singing, I can't see any point continuing as we'd all be singing at different times. Unless we're trying to sing in a round. I do sit in the city end and am deaf in my right ear, so I am using that as an excuse!
  2. To an extent. A brilliant gesture would have been actually paying to get in. What he did was to give himself 34 chances of winning £400-odd.
  3. Stood up to take the penalty yesterday as well, which I was impressed with. Would echo positive comments about the scouts - we need them to unearth gems and they haven't failed with this seasons signings
  4. I have seen this happen before, where I've been offered comps that people obviously have been given and aren't going to use for whatever reason. I didn't notice the woman yesterday, but heard two guys next to me on the way up talking about it. Commendably, their attitude was 'I'd rather give my money to the club', but I'm sure she'll have got rid of them. I don't know how you get round the problem, but I'd encourage anybody going to the game that was going to pay in, not to take them, or to take them and hand them in so that they can be identified.
  5. Yeah, i know.... I have to do these in work as it's the only place i've got access to software needed for this. Unfortunately i've been really busy and not got round to it this week. Next home game isn't until 20th October, so no doubt i'll manage one for that game. Anyway ... tomorrow i'd take a win of any sort. I don't think we should get too carried away with Craigs injury though - he's only really played the two league games for us (discounting Livi) and the Hamilton cup game. Not saying he hasn't made an impact, but the team was winning without him, and we seem to have adequate replacements.
  6. Maybe a wee bit gutted we don't get a shot at The Rangers - they looked pish. If they think they are going to get three successive promotions, we'll have many more nights like this laughing at them. On the plus side - at least the games will both be on the Sunday they are scheduled for. Anyone but Cowdenbeath - we'll play them 4 times already.
  7. Last time Cowden were in SFL1 (10-11), attendances for the games at Firhill were 1841 and 1754. It wasn't that long ago and although our performances or league positions aren't really comparable, if we can add 1000 to any of those attendances it'll be healthy enough.
  8. Is the lack of a home top the reason we don't seem to have had a squad photo taken so far, or did I just miss seeing that?
  9. Did they rebuild the Pentland? Last time I passed (Xmas I think, but not sure what year!), the area was levelled.
  10. Completely off topic, but when I see photos like that I do think we've lost a lot of cracking old buildings in Glasgow over the years - that whole terrace is something else. Likewise when I see pre-M8 Charing Cross.
  11. I know this thread is about Paton, but Jackie and the rest of the coaches really have to take a great deal of the credit for the way the players and the team have been completely transformed. Cairney (remember him?) was gash season 10-11, but season 11-12 was player of the year. I've always liked Paton because I felt what he lacked in ability, he made up in passion, and that for me bought him a couple of stray passes. He was someone who I was always onside with and wanting to do better. What Jackie did with Cairney and Paton was to 'play them out of position' - he sees something in training that made him try them in different roles and it's worked. I know the players have to also put in the effort, but he seems to instilled something in them that changes everything. Even Archie looks comfortable on the ball! Anyway, long may it continue - he's obviously enjoying his football, and I hope he's with Thistle for a few more seasons yet.
  12. It gets a new shelf for the condiments.
  13. The kids can aspire to entering the North Stand (not a euphemism!) when they are 16 then. This - while I'm sure that the majority of those entering the North Stand would know that pretty much anything goes, I don't think we have to imagine too hard to see that there is a level at which some parents would decide was beyond acceptable for their kids and start complaining. I'm not against the (factually incorrect) paedo chants of a few weeks ago - I found it funny myself, but I wouldn't want to be explaining it to my boy or having him join in with them. I perhaps sympathise with parents who take their kids to away games and can feel amongst it one week, and separated from it the next week, but it is what it is, and Firhill is a better place for it. I sit at the city end with my boy. We decided to sit there because that's when the atmosphere was. To be honest, I'm a bit gutted it's moved, but the noise they make now is better than it ever was in the city end for the last few years. The team is producing the goods on the park and Firhill is a magic place to be just now. JH was buzzing before the Hamilton game, but we really do only sing in the JH when we're winning. I do think it's unfair to say parents want it all - I don't think I've read a post on this topic that states this, but most of them have been twisted and thrown back as if they have. This is what usually happens as soon as a topic involving kids is raised on here. Likewise, some people need to get a grip and stop pulling arbitrary ages at which entry to the North Stand should have been set at - where did '12' come from?! The club through onethistle are trying to improve things. The North Stand move has undoubtedly been a success and is helping improve the atmosphere at the games, bringing back lapsed fans and long may it continue. It doesn't need watered down. By the time I'll be able to go with my boy, I'll hopefully have saved my daughter from her mother's east end leanings, so I'm probably about 15 years away, but it's something to aspire to, I guess.
  14. Not saying we're going to get promoted this year, but the last three seasons, come Feb/Mar we've been looking nervously down and working out how many points we'd need to be safe. That is not going to happen this season.
  15. Two Cokes (one pre-match, one half time) were both fine as we're the two steak pies we had. Service was fine as well, but I've never really found this to be a problem. Queues seemed smaller today as well but that might just have been down to the reduced crowd. Paper towels in toilet at full time as well. All good.
  16. I had suggested something similar before - using the Heinekin bar for people just wanting drinks and crisps/chocolate - no food. I thought that this might work as you are not spreading food to a further outlet, potentially increasing the wastage - the only things you would have in this stall are things that either have a long shelf life or things that are dispersed as needed. What pie would you sell with your Bovril as part of your deal? Scotch, skinny scotch, steak, curry or macaroni (for the ladies!)? If you would stock some of each, you'd be as well stocking everything. The water is so hot (beyond boiling) that they could feasibly fill up 20 or so teas, coffees and hot chocolates in the 10mins prior to half time and they'd still be fine at half time (and they'd be able to just grab one as required). Just a thought.
  17. All here - http://www.ptfccentenaryfund.co.uk/join includine the following line 'The draw will take place on or before the 15th of each month'. Email is just a generic [email protected] so although Ami used to answer from this account, it won't have been used by her exclusively.
  18. Man, I must have had too much wine before typing that! Had to go back and actually check I wrote 'pishy'. I did, and I apologise to anyone offended by this.
  19. Great! It's getting cheaper by the day! I do appreciate that I benefit from the kids go free thing, so I don't mind paying for him for cup games. If it helps the club make less of a loss, then it's got to be a good thing. TBH, after paying for my season ticket I only spend about £10 per Matchday, so cup games are always a bit of a shocker!
  20. To get back to the OP - it probably shows how far we've come (and how our outlook as fans has changed) that we can have a discussion on when we might actually drop some points!
  21. Ironically, I look at the away game at Cappielow at the end of the month as being the one that stands out in terms of toughness. They were top last season when we pumped them 5-0, i'd take a point just now.
  22. Agree. I'm just glad we don't have a free weekend. If it was midweek, we might not have played our first team, but with it being a weekend and the fact we have already been put out of one cup, we'll play the strongest possible team. Prices are high for everyone, but I'd much rather be viewing the game live in the JH, than watching it on Alba, either in silence or with pishy Gaelic commentary, wishing I was sat in the JH. I'm pretty sure you won't be able to get radio commentary. I'll be paying the £22 to hopefully see Thistle into the first semi-final that my boy will have seen. Are others just happy to sit at home and hope we get to a final, before deciding to turn up? Just do something cheaper on Friday and Saturday, and get your arses along to Firhill on Sunday! As LMJ said - what else would you be doing at 1605 on a Sunday!
  23. Was there any hospitality yesterday? Have to admit, I've sat on the comfy seats at every home game this season - didn't look like anybody in 'hospitality' attire yesterday, and nobody attempting to keep the riff-raff out!
  24. Live telly, with commentary in Gaelic!
  25. Great idea - they'll only sing if they know what to sing!
