  1. I was not sure if there was an underdog way of doing this, but I have gone for: AAAD
  2. Indeed. I have copied and pasted from the Squad Update recently posted on the PTFC website: Joining the club on permanent contracts: Josh Clarke Ben McPherson Great to sea Oisin Smyth coming in.
  3. Can remember 2 great days out at Berwick Rangers, and 2 vital narrow wins which were instrumental in us winning the then 2nd Division (third tier) under John Lambie in 2000-2001.
  4. Renewed! Always feel that this word should be followed by "sense of optimism".
  5. This is easy! 4321* 4321 4321* 4321* 4321* 4321* 4321 4321 4321 4321* 4321* 4321* Trump Country: SCOTLAND (no divided loyalties!) Many thanks as always.
  6. BB. You can count me in. As others have said, all the hard work you do on this and other competitions for our enjoyment is much appreciated.
  7. Indeed, and even at Championship (old First Division) level, Dick Campbell had some devastating defeats at Firhill, shipping 4 to Clyde, 5 to St Johnstone and 6 to Gretna which made his record feel much worse than the "win/draw/loss" record might suggest.
  8. Echo all comments above. Congratulations to the winners and all the other high scorers and prophetically gifted predicters. Thank you to Bowen Boys for organising this all so brilliantly while also supporting Scotland in the (cricket) World Cup. If you felt able to organise something similar for the football equivalent we would all be even more in your debt. I will maintain my principled approach. Never predict against Scotland, and apart from that, always go for the underdog. I hope to be on your podium when the teams and results from yesterday's game (Scotland v Curacao) are repeated in the World Cup Final.
  9. But not if he is on the way fer St Johnstone.
  10. That looks like an especially strong set of new TJF board members. Delighted that @ChiThistle Len Hoover has swept on to the Board and proved that losing in the play offs does not mean that you cannot ultimately be successful. Also pleased to note that one of the other new appointees mentioned feeling "naturally drawn to the underdog". This was not me, I hasten to add.
  11. I am interested to note that we are still in discussion with Thomas Horn. He showed up really well in the very early part of last season, beginning with a smart finish against Glenafton. Obviously not top notch opposition, but still a touch of class. Then in the League Cup, before Samuel was signed and while Diack was injured and Watt was coming up to speed, he regularly got some decent minutes, usually while we were holding on to a fairly comfortable lead. He got in among the defenders, made his presence felt and generally worked them harder and held the ball up better than Diack seemed to do in a similar role. I had high hopes that he might start to break through at some point during the season, but a loan move to Peterhead did not work as well as expected and I am not quite sure what happened from there. I do not know if anyone else on the forum has any more informed insight as to what the future may hold for him. If Watt and Samuel are both fit, I presume that there is no need for both Diack and Horn. Possibly another loan move, but hopefully one that works out better?
  12. That was their Winter Wonderland Lapland Experience tour. No doubt they will be working on a Summerfest in the Country equivalent for this time round.
  13. Would the very recent removal of Mark Hughes as Carlisle United manager have any impact whether positive or negative on this potential move for Fitzpatrick?
  14. But then you would lose the 2 play off games, so I think that it would be back down to 9 again.
  15. Stephen Craigan was the long thrower par excellence, often disappearing down the tunnel towards the changing rooms to get extra distance for his run up. At the other end of Firhill (ie in front of what would now be the John Lambie Stand, then newly constructed), I can recall one long throw from Craigan straight on to the head of Martin Hardie for the easiest of finishes.
  16. I can see your point. Taylor made very impressive cameos coming on as a sub at important times and really making a difference away to St Johnstone in the league and Dunfermline in the play off. However, in his limited number of starts and his appearances at Firhill I cannot recall anything particularly memorable. He did seem to buy into the team spirit at Thistle (even when we were playing St Mirren). I think that there is a player there, but the jury is still out (apologies for double cliche). Happy to let Wilson and Rae make the call on this (if Taylor is interested in coming to us).
  17. For Pot 4, it is a toss up between ticking off a new ground (Spartans or East Kilbride) or the longer outing to Stranraer. The ground is in a play park, so you can keep young children or grandchildren easily amused right up to kick off time. I can remember older fans having impromptu games of football as well. Real summer holiday atmosphere and memories of Quinton Jacobs!
  18. As @Jaggernaut has already noted on another thread, Brian Graham has taken himself out of the Thistle reckoning (not that this was ever going to happen!) by signing again for Ross County (and perhaps positioning himself as a potential managerial successor to Stuart Kettlewell). Lewis Strapp, the ex Morton and Airdrie long throw specialist, has also headed in the same direction.
  19. As one chapter closes and a new one opens, I have taken the courage to open a thread for 2026-2027 Squad, so perhaps we could all post on there from now on!?
  20. I think it is time to start a new thread for the new season to come. As we summon the strength to go again in 2026-2027, who should we say goodbye to? Who should we invite to jump on board the Partick Thistle train?
  21. Happy to do a bit of travelling. Would take Aberdeen, Peterhead, Stranraer and Brora Rangers if all the games were away. Unfortunately, I think the compulsory draw puts us away to the seeded team (ie Aberdeen), so we would only get one of the 3 more interesting destinations.
  22. We have been on top for most of the half. Difficult to see from the far end how good our chances have been. Lots of good passing moves high up the pitch, but a seeming reluctance to shoot. My concern is that St Mirren cannot be as bad in the second half as in the first half. So many passes straight out of play. We have to take advantage.
  23. Apologies. I am rarely in the know and would not want to give the impression of being so! The premiere was on Monday, and attendance was limited to invitation only due to the small capacity of the Grosvenor Theatre. Those invited seemed to be the people more extensively featured in the documentary. My daughter was in that category and asked (not at my bidding) if her dad could be included. Accordingly I was an undeserving attender. To put matters in perspective, I was interviewed by the film crew on one occasion. They thereafter obviously and very reasonably came to the conclusion that everything I said was so totally uninteresting that none it made the final cut. I had to content myself with a fleeting appearance in a crowd scene at the first Morton game!
  24. That is an excellent result and a really encouraging end to the season.
