  1. Sticking to my principles HAAA Thanks BB Was I the only one to predict a Queens Park victory?
  2. Not necessarily a disaster if we are able to sign another loanee or free agent who is fit, ready and able to play left back.
  3. I actually quite enjoyed the attempt. I recall Kallum Higginbotham doing something similar at Aberdeen and it almost came off. We castigate players for doing the same thing time and again, and then we castigate them for trying something different. The alternatives were the usual diagonal punt to no tall forward players or playing it back and trying to retain possession for a while a player down. Maybe Banzo spotted some temporary inattention or poor placement on the part of the goalkeeper and thought he might as well have a go. Then by the time he hit the shot, perhaps the goalkeeper had rectified the situation, therefore rendering the attempt futile. In the favourite expression of Michael Max, it was not the worst shot I have ever seen. At least it was on target, and if the goalkeeper had been too clever in showing off, he might have been the one embarrassed. The Orient goal against Manchester City yesterday indicates that there is no harm in having a shot from distance. Changing the subject yesterday I can recall the much maligned Darren Brady scoring with a couple of lengthy lobs!
  4. Not ignoring all that happened afterwards but it is good for a moment to remember the excellence of our 2 goals. Shows what the players can do. 1) Ablade slides cross field pass with perfect angle and weight for Chalmers (on the left) to run on to. Expertly finished across the goalkeeper into the far corner. 2) Chalmers (now on the right) outpaces the defence and whips in the perfect cross for Graham to meet at the near post and flick past the goalkeeper.
  5. Could not really see the first penalty as it was at the far end of the pitch. Ablade did seem to pull the Falkirk player back, so penalty seemed fair enough. Second penalty was ridiculous. Falkirlk player blasted the ball into Stanway's hand from about one inch away. Not sure what Ben is supposed to do.
  6. Great save by Mitch from the penalty. Pity his team mates did not help him out. I can accept it when the penalty taker scores a rebound as he has a head start in the box. But other players should not be scoring.
  7. Not defending Graham for a moment. Stupid to trip someone up when on a yellow. But unless anyone else saw any more, it seemed like a soft yellow when a minute earlier the referee failed to book the Falkirk player who rugby tackled Mitchell to the ground.
  8. Rather a waste of 2 absolutely brilliant goals.
  9. Pleased to see Martin. Ablade and Stanway starting. At least it’s different!
  10. No mention if Stanway back fit after injury last week. Saw him in "Pizza" video and looked to be OK and at training with everybody else. With Scott Martin recruited, probably now not much chance of Ben starting, but I would like to see him given the opportunity to make a decent impact off the bench (as he has done on the last 2 occasions). As a secondary matter, it would be good for him to obtain some Falkirk Stadium redemption.
  11. Neil Critchley at Hearts is going to have the same problem as Steve Clarke has with Andy Robertson and Kieran Tierney. How do you fit two world class left backs (James Penrice and Harry Milne) into the same football team?
  12. You are right. Lionel Ainsworth!
  13. Remember that game, and Christie Elliott and James Craigen scoring, but cannot recall Banzo's contribution, if any!
  14. Double marking and marking on the pavement may be banned in the Falkirk Council area.
  15. I am open to correction, but I think that Banzo’s last game at left back was away against Motherwell in 2014. Banzo had a difficult afternoon and gave away the penalty by which we lost 1-0.
  16. Have not checked in detail but I am sure that head to head we have come out on top against Motherwell. However they have been far more efficient in winning against the bottom 5, whereas we have dropped a number of draws. Although disappointing in some respects, I am wondering if this might provide a more uplifting end to the season. The last two seasons we have done marvellously well to secure 6th place. The “reward” has been a concentrated series of matches against full time teams with stronger squads where any point (sometimes any goal) has been hard won and many games have been more a matter of keeping the score down. The chance to win well and score a few goals may be a means of restoring the feel good factor and then hopefully maintain that winning feeling into the next season.
  17. Whether it's good or its bad, its great to have some movement. Brings a bit of freshness to the football, and even to the forum!
  18. Absolutely love that song. Great to sing in the car when nobody else is listening. Rivalled only by Sylvia by Focus, but it's an instrumental, not a song (apart from the yodelling). Well, I guess that's just the way the story goes.
  19. As usual, I disagree with you totally. I am going: HAHH Many thanks, BowenBoys, though I think there should be bonus points when Spartans beat Rangers.
  20. You need not have any worries on that score!
  21. Agreed. Harry Milne has been excellent for us, so aggressive and inspiring, and also intelligent and honest in his interviews. Some great goals in his catalogue, Always love a towering header! Wishing him every success at Hearts. Scott Robinson has been good in parts (especially away at Ross County in the Scottish Cup revenge game), but has rarely been able to string together an injury free run. There has been a slight downturn in recent months, so probably right time to move on. Quite enjoyed the humour in Scott Martin's JagZone interview. He was healthily self-deprecating, but I think that he might be a tougher cookie than his humble expression would indicate. Lady Isobel Barnett will be delighted that we now have the hard tackling midfielder she has posted about almost as often as JJ has torn shreds out of TJF and/or Tranche 2. Know nothing about Ethan Drysdale but here's hoping that he has something to offer.
  22. Another dull shock-free tournament. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Not a good scenario for an underdog.
  23. Turner and Fitzpatrick should be two of our top players that set us apart from our rivals. Their joint early substitution speaks volumes as to how much they are failing to deliver. Chalmers was excellent and our main threat throughout. Robinson combined well with Megwa and Chalmers down the right side in the first half (there was no threat whatsoever from the left side), but fell out of the game in the second half. Apart from the first minute when he was easily beaten and of course his poor mistake leading to Morton's second goal, Megwa played well. Ablade' s pace taking him past several defenders and the precision of his assist for Chalmers were outstanding. It was a pity that Stanway had to miss out and hopefully he will be back soon. Doolan needs to take a serious look at his starting line up and not be afraid of dropping those who may think that they have a divine right to start, That is three games in a row when it has taken substitutions to spark the team belatedly into life. Ablade was brilliant against Falkirk away last time, so it would be good if we could find a way to have him starting next week. For opposite reasons, I would like to see Stanway in there too, if injury permits. We need their freshness and positivity. Robinson, Fitzpatrick and Turner would be decent bench options, hopefully all desperate to prove themselves.
