  1. Good man, yes W7 D5 L5 = 25 points dropped from winning positions. In ma buzzled heid I only counted 1 pt dropped per draw, have amended.
  2. https://www.transfermarkt.com/scottish-premiership/startseite/wettbewerb/SC1 transfermarkt monitors club's injury lists on an ongoing basis, but I'm not too sure if the data can be queried meaningfully. 04.05.2018 Ross County [h] D1-1 (SPFL Premiership - game 36) BYE BYE PRECIOUS POINTS (AGAIN) Chris Erskine nets his 6th goal against County, cementing his place as our 2nd highest scorer of all-time against them. With his 53rd goal in competitive action for the Jags, Squiddy rises into the All-Time Top 40 of our scorers chart. Baily Cargill retires injured in the 57th minute, thereby missing his first game time since joining the club in January. Thistle's yellow card count rises to 83 in competitive action this season, now the highest tally of the 21 seasons recorded by the great Jaggy database. Thistle have taken a single goal lead in 17 of their League games this season, but in the end have failed to win 10 of those matches, relinquishing 25 points all-told. Thistle go 5 competitive home games without defeat versus County, and are 2 away from matching the H2H record of 7. ongoing sequences: 7 competitive games without an away win, 3rd Feb 2018 to date. (Longest run since: 10 games; 19th Aug 2017 to 23rd Dec 2017. Club-record: 26 games; 28th Nov 1908 to 28th Aug 1909.) 15 consecutive competitive appearances for Baily Cargill, 23rd Jan 2018 to date. (Longest run since: Ryan Edwards - 35 games; 8th Aug 2017 to 3rd Apr 2018. Club-record: Johnny Jackson - 313 games; 28th Aug 1926 to 25th Mar 1933.) 15 competitive games without a clean-sheet away from home, 4th Nov 2017 to date. (Longest run since: 16 games; 14th Oct 1989 to 25th Aug 1990. Club-record: 89 games; 31st Oct 1885 to 23rd Jan 1897.) 47 games since back-to-back League wins, 11th Mar 2017 to date. 3. 28.04.2018 St Johnstone [a] D1-1 (SPFL Premiership - game 35) TIGHTENING MATHEMATICS For the 4th time this season, Thistle travel to McDiarmid Park to face Saints, thereby equalling the category record which was set in 1904-05 (vs. Celtic @ Celtic Park), repeated in 1947-48 (vs. Rangers @ Ibrox) and again in 2001-02 (vs. Inverness Caledonian Thistle @ Caledonian Stadium). For the first time since April Dools Day, 2017, Thistle list an unchanged 18 in terms of both the starting line-up and bench. Conor Sammon maintains his 100% spot-kick record, now 3-out-of-3, all coming in 2018. His most perfect predecessor, Sean Welsh, netted 5-out-of-5. The big Irishman becomes the first loanee in 12 years to register a double figures competitive goals tally season. Jukka Santala, who netted 11 times in season 2005-06, was the last man to do so. Thistle haven't missed a regulation time penalty since September 2014, and have scored 8-in-a-row since then. It's more than 5 years since a converted Thistle penalty contributed to a League win; the last was Aaron Muirhead's 19th minute spot-kick opener which set the Jags up for a 6-1 rout of Livingston way back on the 23rd March, 2013. With this stalemate, an unlikely H2H record sequence of 14 games without a draw ends. It's now mathematically impossible for Thistle to be safe from relegation before the final round of fixtures on match day 38. Only once in the last 100 years (2013-14) have Thistle failed to win back-to-back League games in a season; the class of 2017-18 have 3 games left to avoid being equally tagged with that very poor statistic. ongoing sequences: 7 competitive games without an away win, 3rd Feb 2018 to date. 5. 21.04.2018 Hamilton Academical [h] W2-1 (SPFL Premiership - game 34) MAGNIFICENT DOOLAN MARKS LAMBIE DAY At a highly charged and emotional Firhill, Thistle play their first game in front of "The John Lambie Stand", the North end being newly named in tribute of the great man who died, aged 77, on 10th April, 2018. Kris Doolan becomes the first Thistle player in history to score 100 League goals. It's his 9th competitive goal against the Accies. With his 113th competitive goal for the Jags, Kris now sits as our outright 5th Top Scorer of all-time. Next target is 4th placed Jimmy Walker on 118 goals. With his sterling efforts in 2015-16, Kris remains the only player in Scottish football history to have scored in all five post-split games in a single campaign. It's 1 down and 4 to go to equal his own mighty record! The battle for top scorer in competitive action this term could go all the way to the wire as Conor Sammon and Kris Doolan battle it out on 9 goals apiece. Doolan is striving to become the first Thistle player in history to finish as top competitive scorer in FIVE successive seasons. One more goal for the legendary number nine will see him become the first Thistle player in history to register a double-figures competitive goals tally in EIGHT consecutive seasons. Ryan Edwards bags his 8th competitive goal for Thistle, 3 of which have came against the Accies. Thistle go 8 competitive home games without defeat versus Hamilton; the club-record of 11 was set in 1946. Just as it did on 23rd December, a home win over the Accies lifts Thistle off the bottom of the table. ongoing sequences: 13 consecutive competitive appearances for Baily Cargill, 23rd Jan 2018 to date. (Longest run since: Ryan Edwards - 35 games; 8th Aug 2017 to 3rd Apr 2018. Club-record: Johnny Jackson - 313 games; 28th Aug 1926 to 25th Mar 1933.) 14 competitive games without a clean-sheet away from home, 4th Nov 2017 to date. (Longest run since: 14 games; 31st Jan 1996 to 5th Oct 1996. Club-record: 89 games; 31st Oct 1885 to 23rd Jan 1897.)

  7. Probably our greatest man-manager ever; I'm sure his half-time roastings were worth an extra 12 points per season! Without hesitation, John was always there when asked to come and support our fund raisers for the Livingston branch back in the day. He even came out to my mates 21st birthday to make it a night to remember. His personal appearance fees? "Ach, a couple of whiskies, that'll dae me" He was great company, as anyone who attended the old player of the year dances knows. John doing his Dean Martin is once seen, never forgotten. RIP you ******* legend you. x
  8. All very valid points. Doing well against our peer group has been a recurring feature of our 5 top-flight seasons under the Arch; we've either been at the very top or near to the top of these "mini-Leagues". This season, there's very little between the bottom six: In the the bottom half round robin, we have nothing to fear except fear itself, although a six point gain on either Dundee or Hamilton now looks highly unlikely (damn those last minute goals.) In reality, I'd expect us to find enough to finish in the play-off place, where I reckon it'll be a tough 2-legged affair with the energetic and aggressive Livingston, a tie which could go all the way to the wire.
  9. 03.04.2018 Ross County [a] L0-4 (SPFL Premiership - game 32) ARCHIBALD'S MANAGERIAL NADIR To the bemusement of many pundits and fans, Kris Doolan's game-time percentage is falling ever-lower. Thistle's joint-5th highest competitive scorer of all-time is confined to the bench for the entirety of the 90 minutes here, despite being the club's all-time highest scorer against County with 8 goals. The striker has now only seen 48.9% of the action in 2017-18, the lowest ratio of all his seasons spent fully at Firhill. For the second time in the Archibald era, Thistle fail to score in a 4th consecutive competitive match (there was a run of 5 in August/September 2015). The all-time club-record (6) was set by George Easton's side in 1921 and equalled by Lambie's Jags in 1999. Thistle lose to nil for the third consecutive time in the League. The club-record (4) was set in 1895 and equalled in 1988, 2010 and 2015. Thistle have now failed to score in 10 of their 17 away League matches this term. The club record (11) was set in 1912-13 and equalled twice; in 1919-20 and 2014-15. In all, Thistle have failed to score in 15 of this season's 32 League matches. Depressingly, the 46.9% ratio remains on course to be the highest failure rate of all-time. Away from home in the League, Thistle have kept just one solitary clean-sheet in over 13 months of action. The record books are re-written as Thistle suffer their heaviest ever defeat to County. County have scored more goals in this single League game than Thistle have in their last 8 combined. Thistle's goal difference plummets to -30 and is on course to set a new club-record. Since the criteria was introduced in 1970-71, the highest deficit of -33 was set in 1995-96. 07.04.2018 Kilmarnock [h] L0-1 (SPFL Premiership - game 33) BRUTAL STATS GALORE There's no appearance for Ryan Edwards, ending a run of 8 months not out for the player. The unsettled nature of the Thistle eleven at the moment (a ridiculous running tally of 66 changes in 14 games in 2018) is underlined by the fact that Baily Cargill (11) is the only player to currently be sitting with a double figures unbroken run in competitive action. Thistle lose to nil for the fourth consecutive time in the League, and, quite remarkably, Archie's Jags equal the club-record which they themselves already jointly hold. The record run of 4 was first set in 1895 and matched in 1988, 2010 and 2015. Following a similar run in August/September 2015, Thistle fail to score in a 5th consecutive competitive match. The all-time club-record (6) was set by George Easton's side in 1921 and equalled by Lambie's Jags in 1999. Thistle have played 531 minutes without a Premiership goal, and currently have the embarrassing distinction of sitting with the longest goal-less run in the 10 main British Leagues of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Thistle have failed to score in 16 of this season's 33 League matches. The 48.5% ratio remains on course to be the club's highest failure rate of all-time. Thistle's goal difference falls to -31 and is on course to set a new club-record. Thistle's goals-per-game ratio in the League falls to 0.79 (26 in 33) and is on course to register as the club's lowest return of all-time. Thistle have lost to nil in 42.4% (14) of their League games this season, a ratio which is on course to be the club's worst of all-time. Thistle have failed to score against Kilmarnock in 4 successive games at Firhill. For the first time since season 1960-61, Thistle are whitewashed by Killie in the League; 3 defeats out of 3. Thistle haven't beaten Killie at Firhill since Alex Burns netted a hat-trick in a top-flight encounter back in November, 2002. It's now 11 competitive home games without a win since then, and yet another unwanted H2H record is subsequently extended. ongoing sequences: 10 competitive games without a win, 3rd Feb 2018 to date. (Longest run since: 13 games; 9th May 2015 to 26th Sep 2015. Club-record: 26 games; 28th Nov 1908 to 25th Aug 1909.) 12 consecutive competitive appearances for Baily Cargill, 23rd Jan 2018 to date. (Longest run since: Ryan Edwards - 35 games; 8th Aug 2017 to 3rd Apr 2018. 10. Massive swing against Thistle tonight, the revised probabilities of finishing bottom according to the pro layers at Ladbrokes / Coral are: 50.22% - Ross County 36.62% - Partick Thistle 7.99% - Dundee 5.17% - Hamilton I guess the fact we still have to play County at Firhill keeps them favourites for the bottom spot as things stand.
  11. Thistle's all-time Top Scorers vs Ross County in competitive action: #1 - 8 goals - Kris Doolan (2009-2017) #2 - 5 goals - Chris Erskine (2009-2016) #3 - 4 goals - Lyle Taylor (2014-2015) #3 - 4 goals - Martin Hardie (2000-2002) #5 - 3 goals - Steven Lawless (2013-2014) #5 - 3 goals - Juan Ramón (2004-2004) #5 - 3 goals - Stephen McConalogue (2006-2006) 3 of our current squad are in the Top 5. 3-1 to Thistle tonight (Doolan, Erskine, Lawless)
  12. 31.03.2018 Hibernian [a] L0-2 (SPFL Premiership - game 31) NO GOALS, NO CLEAN-SHEET, POOR DISCIPLINE Thistle's highly unusual run of fielding unsettled starting elevens continues, now sitting at a mammoth FIFTY EIGHT changes in the 12 games of 2018. Ryan Edwards registers his 100th competitive appearance as a Jag, and is the 8th member of the current squad to do so. With his 26th consecutive appearance in competitive action, Tomáš Černý equals his personal-best run in the team. Alas, the injury-prone 'keeper breaks one of his own unwanted records, becoming the first Thistle 'keeper in history to be substituted 5 times in competitive action. Ryan Scully extends his own, and the club's record, by coming on as a substitute 'keeper for the 5th time in competitive action. True to form, the 'keeper continues to register awful stats; in the 31 games that he's played, the Jags have conceded 1.68 goals-per-game and the clean-sheet ratio falls to just 16.1%. Danny Devine, by far the most indisciplined player at Firhill in recent times, registers his 21st yellow and 3rd red card in just 67 competitive games for the club. In the head-to-head, Jags are now on a run of 3 consecutive competitive defeats versus Hibs; the worst such streak since a run of 6 was set back in 1973. Perhaps worse still, we're also on a run of 16 competitive games without a clean-sheet against them; the worst run since the H2H record of 22 was set in 1973. Thistle lose to nil for the twelfth time in this season's League campaign. Only two season's have produced greater totals; there were 13 losses to nil in 1908-09 and 15 losses to nil in 1995-96. Thistle are now 13 competitive games without a clean-sheet away from home; you need to rewind back to 1996 to find a longer run (14). Thistle's nightmare season in front of goal continues, the latest instalment being an awful run of 351 competitive minutes without a goal. It's the sixth time in the Archibald era that Thistle have failed to score in (at least) 3 successive games. Astoundingly, Thistle have now failed to score in 14 of their 31 League matches this term. The class of 2017-18 are on course to register the highest failure to score rate (45.16%) of any Thistle side in League history. The current record is held by Murdo MacLeod's Jags who failed to score in 16 out of 36 (44.44%) in 1995-96. ongoing sequences: 8 competitive games without a win, 3rd Feb 2018 to date. (Longest run since: 9 games; 11th Aug 2017 to 14th Oct 2017. Club-record: 26 games; 28th Nov 1908 to 25th Aug 1909.) 13 competitive games without a clean-sheet away from home, 4th Nov 2017 to date. (Longest run since: 13 games; 24th Feb 2007 to 10th Nov 2007. Club-record: 89 games; 31st Oct 1885 to 23rd Jan 1897.) 34 consecutive competitive appearances for Ryan Edwards, 8th Aug 2017 to date. (Longest run since: Adam Barton - 54 games; 28th Dec 2016 to 3rd Feb 2018. Club-record: Johnny Jackson - 313 games; 28th Aug 1926 to 25th Mar 1933.)
  13. These queries tend to get twisted a' roads wi' all sorts of wee caveats. Personally, I don't view loanees differently. The following table shows you all 34 men to have joined the "played for both Thistle and Scotland" club since 1970. They are listed chronologically by date of achieving this distinction.
  14. Here, haud oan a minute, ye cannae jist go about renaming the Stadium of Dreams. Re Lambie in the Northy... oh yesh.
  15. Did he actually get a medal? I'd like to think that he did, but he wasn't in the 18 for the final. His stats at Thistle were superb, and the criticism towards him was OTT both during and after his time here.
  16. I don't record call-ups so can't be sure but, as others have pointed out, Kenny Arthur (2003) and Scott Fox (2013) made the bench whilst serving Jags. You're right with that, it doesn't happen often. From 1970 onwards, 8 non-loanee ex-Jags have went on to win debut caps for Scotland. In order of their international debut they are: Jimmy Bone (1972), Arthur Duncan (1975), Ronnie Glavin (1977), Joe Craig (1977), Alan Hansen (1979), Billy Thomson (1980), Maurice Johnston (1984) and now, the bold Jack. Thought Jack was excellent last night, extremely assured, and has certainly done enough to win a second cap. A wee stat to celebrate? Jack Hendry becomes the 132nd man to have played for Thistle and won a full international cap. He's the first player since Derek Whyte to record a clean-sheet on both his Thistle and his international debut.
  17. Ultra-selective period stats there methinks - desperados! Yer man forgot to mention that, in all their years, their best-ever winning streak against the Jags extended to just TWO games-in-a-row! He also forgot to mention that Jags have a superior record to Bankies in every single competition where the two clubs have met, namely; Anglo-Scottish Cup, League - 1st tier, League - 2nd tier, League - 3rd tier, League Cup and Scottish Cup. Also, we'll see them their lowly second tier player of the years and raise them two top table awards via Jimmy McGowan (1954) and Alan Rough (1981). It'd be nice to see them back all the same, as it was terrible what happened with the vultures of Airdrie. Apparently they're going to enter the senior pyramid system, so it's a good possibility.
  18. A splendid plaque, Rab's looking good there. Glad to see there's no mention that he played for Clyde! Weel done a'bdy.
  19. Norge, thankfully, the home record is not so horrendous this season and, therefore, we are still very much alive in the battle to avoid the drop. It's fair to say that the gaffer hasn't always got it right this term, but that's not to say he won't do so next season. A few oldies (Woods, Dumbuya and Osman) are out of contract in a couple of months and I'd imagine (and hope) that Archie is already plotting for a freshen up, with (I'd like to think) a hungrier, meaner and fitter squad. On the question of perspective; should it be framed on a single season? I don't think so. In his his 5 year record, the good heavily outweighs the bad, by traditional Thistle standards. That a managerial reign can flow with peaks and troughs seems to be an unheard-of concept these days; personally I'd love to see Thistle fans dare to be different by riding it out and backing the gaffer during this tough period. That's certainly what I'll be doing anyway. The man's record, 2013 to date, more than justifies the faith.
  20. Jimmy, 3 times we've been unchanged this season (all after a positive result) and have lost the second game: 13.12.2017 Motherwell [h] W3-2 (SPFL Premiership - game 17) 16.12.2017 Dundee [a] L0-3 (SPFL Premiership - game 18) Tomáš Černý; Paul McGinn; Blair Spittal; Jordan Turnbull; Niall Keown; Danny Devine; Martin Woods; Adam Barton; Conor Sammon; Ryan Edwards; Miles Storey 19.11.2017 Heart of Midlothian [a] D1-1 (SPFL Premiership - game 14) 02.12.2017 Hibernian [h] L0-1 (SPFL Premiership - game 15) Tomáš Černý; Paul McGinn; Jordan Turnbull; Niall Keown; Danny Devine; Adam Barton; Blair Spittal; Ryan Edwards; Miles Storey; Chris Erskine; Steven Lawless 28.10.2017 St Johnstone [h] W1-0 (SPFL Premiership - game 12) 04.11.2017 Ranges [a] L0-3 (SPFL Premiership - game 13) Tomáš Černý; Paul McGinn; Steven Lawless; Jordan Turnbull; Niall Keown; Danny Devine; Adam Barton; Blair Spittal; Conor Sammon; Ryan Edwards; Miles Storey Interestingly (or maybe not!) the last time we had the same starting eleven for 3-in-a-row we won all three: 11.04.2015 Motherwell [h] W2-0 (SPFL Premiership - game 33) 25.04.2015 Ross County [a] W2-1 (SPFL Premiership - game 34) 02.05.2015 St Mirren [h] W3-0 (SPFL Premiership - game 35) Scott Fox; Stephen O'Donnell; Callum Booth; Conrad Balatoni; Freddy Frans; Abdul Osman; Stuart Bannigan; Ryan Stevenson; Lyle Taylor; Steven Lawless; Kallum Higginbotham
  21. 1. With 10 minutes to go at Hampden, Bobby Houston putting Thistle one up in the Scottish Cup semi final of 1979 against Rangers. 2. Gerry Britton dancing all over Firhill after putting Thistle 3 nil up over Rangers, effectively sealing safety for the Jags in May '93. 3. Geordie Shaw's late winner at Parkhead in '92. Davie Irons a revelation at centre-half. "Thistle are back, Thistle are back, hello, hello!"
  22. A bit of perspective? Alan Archibald is close to becoming just the THIRD manager in Thistle's history to be solely responsible for keeping Thistle in the Top 10 of Scottish football in five successive campaigns. Go on Arch.
