  2. I've seen a photo of the moment that the ball is over the line and it certainly appears as if the referee is looking in a completely different direction. It's possible on the basis of that photo that he genuinely didn't see the ball crossing the line, at which point he would refer to his assistant for confirmation. The linesman, however, seems to be looking right at it and doesn't seem to be having his view blocked by anyone so how he can miss that is mind boggling. Even the assistant on the opposite side should have been able to see that it was over the line. Utterly bizarre.
  3. Thistle twitter account alluding to an imminent announcement.....
  4. Wow, that is an unbelievable signing. Well done Thistle.
  5. Can understand why many are unhappy about this, but I'm delighted that he wants to stay on and get the club back up and that we are willing to give him that chance. I think over the past 5 years he has achieved enough and done well enough to be shown a bit of loyalty and trust. I see this as no more of a gamble that if we were to get rid of him and appoint someone else with the added bonus that we have a guy in charge who has gotten us promoted in the past. I personally think that whilst he has made mistakes, he's been let down massively by some of the players and he now has the opportunity to start fresh and go again. We as football fans can be a fickle bunch at times, we demand loyalty from players and managers whilst demonstrating a willingness to cut loose anyone as soon as they have a bad spell or aren't performing as expected. I think what he has achieved as both a player and a manager means that he deserves a degree of loyalty and trust returned. I still think this is just a bad spell for Archie and that he will learn from it and come back as a better manager for it and I for one am glad that he will still be our manager.
  6. Out of contract the end of the season according to the Dunfermline website. Would imagine there will be a few clubs sniffing around him.
  7. Because they played ICT in the last round and that match hadn't been played before the next round was drawn. ICT were seeded and therefore had to remain as a seeded team in the next round draw, even though their game hadn't been played.
  8. I'd imagine that he's well aware of his situation. The longer he goes without a club then the more likely he is to be open to lower offers, even if it's only a year deal or whatever.
  9. Apparently Simon Lappin is a free agent at the moment, ex St Mirren and Norwich LB/LW Would be ideal for the LB position but i'd imagine his wage demands would be too much for us.
  10. Been using it in U17-U20 Uefa competitions for a while now too.
  11. Exactly! On paper you'd say Spain v Holland will be better than Mexico v Cameroon, but if we get another game like the last WC final then it's going to be pretty boring.
  12. I think he's be a great signing at LB but I can't see news of him being released.
  13. I watched the Hamilton game last night and it was the first time I can really remember seeing Ziggy Gordon playing. Maybe it was just me, but for a left back he doesn't use his left foot and is actually right footed. That was a downside straight away as he never seemed keen on taking his man on and getting a cross in. He was always cutting in (which Sinky does too to be fair) but seems pretty limited in that regard. Seemed ok defensively but can't say I was bowled over by him.
  14. I would imagine that Archie has got a few experienced defenders on his radar, ones that are slightly younger too.
  15. In a way I agree with this but in some ways I hope you're wrong. I'd be really happy if his progression as a player continued at the same rate, we get a big fee for him and he went on to hold down a place in the first team of a club in a big league. I'd like to see him progress to a point that he could be a regular for the national team too
  16. Loan i think, but maybe out of contract this summer.
  17. I thought it was pretty common knowledge that Budge was going to be bringing on Levein if or when the takeover was complete. He's certainly been advising her for a good while now. McGowan's release was apparently agreed quite a while ago and his with is to return to Australia
  18. Beattie's interview on STV yesterday had him saying that us staying up would mean we could offer Lyle Taylor a deal to stay. Encouraging.
  19. It's been frustrating at times this season as we've dropped a lot of points from winning positions. This is mainly down to a lack of experience amongst other things and has not really cost us in the long run. When you look at the table you can see how good the season actually has been when you consider that; 1. We have picked up points in roughly 2/3rds of our games this season. If more of the draws had been wins then we'd have been comfortably top 6. 2. We have the least amount of defeats compared to other teams in the bottom half and a similar amount of defeats to the likes of ICT and St Johnstone. 3. We're joint top scorers in the bottom 6 and have more goals than ICT. Archie and the team really deserve a massive amount of credit for pulling out 2 wins and 2 draws so far in the post split fixtures. When the pressure was really on they have delivered. Well done.
  20. Raman said it was him on Twitter, might not be though. Not seen it confirmed anywhere else.
