  1. I am not sure what your point is, you appear to be of the view we aren't better than the other bottom 6 teams probably a view shared by most rational fans. So to say we are in a relegation battle and need to dig out every point is pretty much standard fare for most bottom 6 teams. If we do ultimately go down then despite who is in the old 1st Div we will have a fight on to get out. You don't need a crystal ball or a negative disposition to realise that just look at our recent history. If you did you would be better prepared to deal with the current position and get behind the team every week to help them dig out the points. Back the team and cut out the stupid negative crap that rises every bad result. Let's deal with play offs when we are actually in one, managers are people and this one doesn't deserve or need the rot that some are spouting. He is learning his trade and we enjoyed the first part of his development, it's got tough so let's get rid, great way to treat someone who hadn't failed yet.
  2. It's amazing the difference a couple of weeks can make!! The amazing highs to the extreme lows, seems to be the life of a few PTFC fans. The timing of the goal yesterday was extremely frustrating however a draw was a fair result. We still look vulnerable from set pieces and ultimately that undone us. The team worked there socks of and by and large defended extremely well, McMillan and Muirhead making two fantastic blocks that saved certain goals, Foxy having his usual mix of outstanding saves mixed with inept command of his box. Ozzy was immense and certain MoM to a neutral, and part of a very hard working midfield with no failures. I have almost blind faith in this team which I know can be foolish however I believe their efforts on behalf of a Jags jersey to now deserves that trust and even if this campaign ends in failure to date I feel this will be on ability rather than effort.
  3. It's not just Foxy that needs to grow a pair, elements of the thistle support need to do the same. Talk of scoring again is just pathetic even the worst teams score goals so what value does these comments have. The crowd today and earlier threads have confirmed what I already knew, there are a hardcore if thistle fans that I have the utmost respect for, the rest I welcome their cash when things are going well but quite glad to get shot off when it isn't easy. They get overly negative and dis-appear quicker than Sevco chairmen. Thanks for the cash see you at the next promotion campaign or cup run depending whichever comes first.
  4. Certainly would welcome a regular scorer or creator of goals however until we sort out the defence it needs to be Messi or Ronaldo to get us wins. You cannot give gifts like we are from basic set pieces and hope to stay in the game. Scott Fox needs to command the 6 yard box more than he does at present to help out the defence. He made some great reflex saves but that's all in vain if a ball down his throat leads to a free header.

    Plan B

I hope many of you don't play poker the cards would be folded pretty early in the game. Talk of dumping Archie or 9 men behind the ball (I exaggerate for effect) to scrape a snore draw makes me sick. We have been lucky to have the last 15 months with some of the most attractive football I have witnessed in 35 years of watching the Jags regularly. To throw that away after a few defeats is just pathetic, get real, get behind the manager and team and support them as real fans should. Before you accuse me of being naive I do accept we need to tighten up but that doesn't mean abandoning all our football principles it means slight alterations like defending set pieces better (Aberdeen & St Mirrens first goals) and staying in games longer. We have a good young team that will have had their confidence dented and I certainly expected a period like this, if we come through it still in touching distance of tenth place that is as good as we should have expected at the start of the season. Those that got carried away thinking we were better than that are the same ones that seem to be hitting the panic button now.
  6. It's too early to suggest we have a discipline issue this season, however we certainly had one last year under both managers and it cost us in a few games. What we do have is inexperienced players who put themselves in positions needlessly in my opinion that have forced refs to make a decision. All 3 red cards over the last two games should have been avoided and where lapses of judgement either through poor judgement or petulance you can decide which for each situation.
  7. Ps If both are still here at the end of their contracts we will be in the Championship or heading there.
  8. He may well not have had much of a game however the limited game time he has had has been fruitless. The fact he has had limited game time suggests he isn't banging down the managers door for a start. As always I am more than happy to be proven wrong when it comes to Jags players and I give you my word that at the end of the season if either come good and establish themselves in a successful team I will admit my wrongful haste in writing them off. I trust you will do likewise if my observations based on experience are proven to be correct?
  9. Agree we need to get a grip. If you have any jags blood running through your veins today is certainly not the time to call time on your support. I am one of the 1000 on a cold league cup night, I am one of the 2000 on a mid table 1st division match, I one if a 3500 crowd when we are top if the 1st division. Are you one of an attractive mid table SPFL premiership team? If not get off and wait until we have been relegated and are at the top of the roller coaster again after all you are a "real" jags fan after all!!! "Oh Maryhills is wonderfully ...."
  10. Agree with almost all off this, only two points I would differ on are 1. This team unlike many before in the top flight can hold there own and are attractive to watch I can't recall many Lambie teams that were. 2. Archie needs to ask more of his squad I don't think he has given everyone a fair chance and by default the team.
  11. This smacks of someone who is blind to the facts and loyal to the individual concerned as they have fond memories. Sure Lawless was ok yesterday but like many others didn't contribute anything positive, don't try and pass this off as everyone else's fault. He has failed to make an impact and if he took a leaf out of Higgies book and was more direct he may be more effective, I don't think he is capable of this but wait for him to up his game and try it and prove me wrong. Nothing would make me happier, a new Andy Lyons would be fine by me.
  12. That isn't hindsight, Archie made a choice to let both go thinking he could get better for the money both would command. Unfortunately he couldn't get better and was forced to go for these two gambling they would come good. It's a gamble that won't pay off and he should offload as soon as he can as he isn't even going to get valued game time from either.
  13. I seriously wonder what some folk are watching or expect? We didn't have 5 or 6 players off form today if we did we wouldn't have been anywhere in the game. We lost a poor goal at a corner, not the first this year and couldn't make any more of our possession than half chances. We have two full backs that bomb forward but can't put in a decent cross between them and are pretty poor defensively, should we drop them? No in my opinion the mgt team need to work their buts off too improve them. We have options in midfield and we need to alter them until we find the right blend. At the end of the day we are in a fight for 11th place if we get the most out of the team we will be fine, if we don't we could end up there.
  14. Piccolo may becoming a scapegoat however if he is he's not doing anything to persuade anyone that he shouldn't be. He is far too casual and risky for a centre half in this division. And he doesn't have any redeeming qualities that would persuade me to overlook this? He should never have been anywhere near the team today I can just about get it when there Is no alternative but to have 2 better options on the bench worries me. Archie finally had enough even if it was only 1-0 strange though he put Ozzy back since we had like for like on the bench. We need to become more solid I can guarantee the Mexican won't help us achieve it.
  15. I can get down about a poor result as much as the next guy, but to suggest we are poor or rotten is far from the mark. By your own account both Hibs and St Mirren are bad teams. The major difference and why we are ending up with bad results is they have guys in the team that can take a chance when it comes along. We in the main don't and probably more concerning is we really don't have any guille to fashen clear chances despite our possession. We had god knows how many corners but didn't even get a shot on target from them, they scored with their first and looked dangerous at most set pieces. We are good to watch but that's not enough and Archie needs to find a way of creating more chances from the squad. Forbes would have created a chance from the corners but he isn't getting a chance and only Archie knows why. I think he has been loyal enough to last years squad maybe SOD's sending off is a blessing if McMillan is fit he could do a better job defending and going forward. Let's keep the faith there's a long way to go and we are not as bad as you suggest we just need to find the way to win ugly like the teams around us can.
  16. In my view we should be sitting with at least another 4 points our play has merited this. Regardless I am very happy with the quality of play, for our team to impose themselves on so many teams home and away is beyond my expectations. It would be nice to turn this into goals let's hope we are learning to work this out. If we can repeat this form and results we are going to be fine.
  17. I agree you are perfectly entitled to an opinion but in my view if you give an opinion it should be a considered one. It is bonkers to suggest Archie's team selection is politically motivated and your recent post in "my opinion" seems to back track from this view. As I said previously Graigen and Elliot are well worthy of there places in the team ahead of Lawless and to date outright professionals taking their opportunity when it arises. Lawless had the jersey but failed to hold onto it not because he hasn't signed a contract simply because he hasn't been good enough. To question the right for others to play in front if him in my view is disrespectful to his manager and team mates, to consider otherwise foolish. The fans aren't on his back in my view they have and probably will continue to give him a chance to succeed as he was a great player last year, if he thinks that is enough he is bonkers. Knuckle down learn and work hard and he may turn it around, bitch and feel sorry for himself and he'll end up at. Morton or Falkirk for sure.
  18. Well done for giving an honest opinion on your experience of the game. From my perspective in the JHS the guys on the main stand kept the atmosphere up just as much as the NS. The only regret for me is the new entry system is taking some getting used too and feels longer to get in than previous. There was far too big a queue to get in today with many folk messing about trying to get there ticket to read. Maybe improve with experience, I hope so can't afford yo turn punters off.
  19. I can't believe or understand the tone of this post. In my opinion it is completely disrespectful to suggest that Archie isn't playing Lawless because he hasn't signed a contract. If you have played the game as you suggest then you must have watched an out of form player who was being bullied of the ball and failing to link up with team mates. Is it just coincidence when he hasn't been in the team we have created and took chances? If he feels he's better than Graigen, Bannigan and Elliot then he should try and take a leaf out of their book on ball retention, work rate and team ethics. We all knew some players wouldn't make the step up so far it has been Lawless and my only regret is we never took the £50k on offer as currently it is looking like a gamble that never paid off. If he thinks he's moving to another SPFL Premiership team in this form he's deluded. For you to suggest there is more to it than that is just bonkers. As for twitter he should learn to keep his mouth shut and work harder to get back in the team rather than come across as a spoilt pr*ck .
  20. All the best Brian, and a speedy recovery.

Other than selling it of for flats we shouldn't have any interest in the bing. Whisper it quietly but I guess I wasn't alone in regretting the building of the North Stand, the white elephant that put us further into dept and offered no protection when ICT stole our place in the league when an unfashionable team found themselves bottom of it. As far as I am concerned any available funds should go to the important area of the ground the bit in the middle.
  22. I am completely gob smacked by some of the posts on here. I can understand a NS season ticket holders frustration about being asked to move for this or any game as by and large this initiative has been good for the general match day atmosphere. Having said that we I presume are all Jags fans and would ahead of anything else prefer to see an attractive competitive team on the park ahead of anything else? Unless I am living in cloud cuckoo land this costs money and since the club have been lambasted for not maximising income in other threads why all of a sudden when half of the annual Scottish Football cash cow comes calling we should refuse that income. I get that we want to be different to other clubs however there are other ways and I would suggest making ourselves uncompetitive in financial terms isn't the best way to stand out. Maybe getting behind the team and the club would be a good start. You are well within your rights to avoid this game if you can't stomach the bile I for one wouldn't criticise anyone for doing so but we have strived for so long to get here let's not get carried away by thinking we can handicap ourselves and stay here. Before anyone gets carried away and makes any accusations of "not at any cost" we are talking about moving seats from one place to another no one is being asked to sit on the bing or with there back to the game, I am sure it can't be that bad and if it really causes hardcore fans to quit the team then I'll need to recheck the dictionary for the definition of hardcore.
  23. Have to declare I was never a Paton fan so no surprise that I agree with this comment. Isaac covers the park and breaks up play in a way Paton never could. Top marks to Archie for not taking the easy option and trying to hold onto PP he's done himself and the rest of us a big favour, and more importantly the club a real chance of doing well in this division.
  24. Great result for the Jags. Not the best performance of the season and maybe a bit of karma that it was from a keeper error that gave us the winner given the heroics of most keepers at Firhill. There was no goal at the corner the AR got it completely wrong and both teams can feel aggrieved so how can that be a goal? There was no goal at the corner as it was clearly there tactic to rough Fox up that just can't be allowed with the current rules. Other than corners and a bad free kick they really didn't trouble us and we counter attacked well and with more composure could have punished them more.
  25. I simply can't understand this logic!! I have read most views on this situation and I haven't seen or read anything that confirms or refutes the defined position of the club. If your view is anti board they have caved in if it is pro club the board had no choice. All conjecture so to take a defined stance and gain brownie points at a f*****g craft fair rather than watch your team I simply don't compute? Top bloke though enjoy your day and I would agree that you shouldn't check the Sky coverage, nor the BBC results website, nor the bookies as you clearly aren't interested enough to follow the jags. Enjoy your day whilst we get behind the team.
