  1. "Shoes off for the Thistle!" Weird, but amusing..
  2. Thistle fans a few years back at Somerset Park: "What's it like to milk a cow?" That chant still makes me smile..!
  3. Are you sure? I heard all 1st Div clubs stated they wanted a 42-team organisation, did I miss that they also all voted no?
  4. I just can't see an SPL2 happening. There cannot be time to come up with the idea, sort out financial breakdowns and indeed a fixture list. Sounds to me like some people in a panic and assuming it can be done. Simply cannot see it happening time-wise, let alone getting enough clubs to agree to it...
  5. Living away from all the media hype about this allows me to have a different picture here. I would love to be able to watch Thistle every week. I wish I could see the matches more than just 2 or 3 times a year when I am back home. I really fear for our club given the statements from posters about returning season tickets/giving up on the club. From what I have read, I see fans being sucked into a debate created by another club and with our directors not going either way on how they will vote (along with the other 29 SFL clubs). The debate is obviously hot topic in Scotland and people are getting too far into it. I would appeal to those who say they would no longer watch the Jags to think again. The current players, coach and manager have nothing to do with this. They are our club. Even if the Directors voted yes (which I think they would now be foolish to do) it would not stop me following the team I love. When the dust settles down, even if you feel so strongly about it now I would hope that you would slowly find your way back to Firhill. Thistle has not created this mess, Rangers did. Don't let our club die because of them...
  6. Not that it might help, but I am one who will sit in the North Stand for any matches I do get to if it is a place where atmosphere is to be encouraged. And I don't care who we play...
  7. Although I cannot get to the games as often as I could, I could not care less who we play. I go to watch Thistle, not the opposition...
  8. I was in Strsbourg for three months in 1991. RCS was a solid middle 1st division club. Saw them play Monaco (with Klinsmann in the team) and against PSG. They were a good side and the stadium was full... Those were the days...
  9. Sigh...stade de la meinau used to be jumping as well...
  10. On a different fund raising note, but with merchandise in mind, why not have a Thistle car boot sale? We probably all have loads of stuff from over the years (programmes/tops/scarves/old merchandise)sitting in boxes/cupboards etc. What one has sitting doing nothing, someone else might be prepared to part some cash for. Before mailing the club on this, who would a) be prepared to pay for a stall at a boot sale behind the JHS and who would go along to make it worthwhile for the stall-holders? This could be part of an open doors day..?
  11. Have I missed something or is there no mention of the vote on the official site. I would have thought that given the appeal on the official site before, there would be something... I am happy the vote has gone through, I think..!)
  12. May not be easy for anyone to do/know this, but can anyone work out how many votes are in each camp? How many did the "yes" camp got and how many the "no" camp in the last EGM? There has been much pleading to reverse the decision, but is it likely or have the "old guard" got too many shares to block the idea?
  13. Said it before, but, as an exile, your pics always give a great story of the matches - the fan shots are always great. Thanks, Jim!
  14. I was "lucky" enough to be at the Berwick game on Saturday, but have to be back in Germany now for work. Think yourselves fortunate you at least can decide to go/not to go to the matches. If I were still in Scotland, I sure as hell would still go to the game on Saturday. And I would still go to the ground thinking we pould win the match. I certainly would not give up and think the season is over because of one match which was spoiled by a pathetic referee. Even if we were struggling come November, I would still go to the games because the club needs our money. I may not be able to go to many games, but being abroad, you certainly wish you could. So, troops, let's get some silly optimism back. Get the scarves out the cupboard, go for a pint or five before the match a sing some songs to get behind the players. I wish I could..!
  15. Really? What exactly is the difference...genuine question. Away fans numbers at Firhill are dwindling in the 1st Division, home fans hovering near to or worse than the last time we were in the second division (apart from the end of the season when we were about to win the league). It's not like the diference between the SPL and the 1st Division after all...
  16. Spot on, Steven. In addition, the worst of the OF fans have little independent thought and are simply sheep (in animal terms not Aberdeen fans, although the line is not that clear there...) Follow everyone else in buying the usual Celtic/Rep. Ireland or Rangers/Chelsea gear. It gives some sad people a sense of purpose in life and the fact that it is "a bit naughty" adds to it. I beleive that these guys do gain a lot of social acceptance from others and somehow gain through it. Without the whole OF hype and common cause, huge numbers of these guys would be lost. That would be a shame...
  17. I always liked the red socks with horizontal black and yellow stripes at the top...
  18. Hmmmm... Fortuna Köln - just up the road 1. FC Köln - further along the same road Bayer Leverkusen - across and up the Rhine Fortuna Düsseldorf - further up the Rhine Borussia Mönchengladbach - almost part of Holland Allemania Aaachen - almost part of Belgium Partick Thistle - too far away...
  19. Or the fact that Ayr fans lorded it up that day by chanting "Thistle's going down..." Just not necessary.
  20. So, so true. I am a positive supporter in every way I can for Thistle. I get frustrated at times, but never dish abuse. However, that man's performances were just so, so poor, he is the only player in red and yellow I have ever booed...
  21. Given that QOS and Morton have to play the top two next week, and QOS game in hand is against a battling Ross County, and we will probably play Raith Rovers when the title has been decided, the prospects of 4th spot seem good...
  22. Time to look at the German model. Each year all teams must ensure to the German FA (DCB) they are financially viable and fit to end the season. This makes all clubs live within their means and clubs cannot muck around. We are not saints on this issue by any means, but there have been too many clubs since that have been in more seroius trouble. Livi getting hit was fair, as was Gretna. Dundee's "punishment" was far too lenient. Getting that financially wrong should mean demotion to the lowest league, minimum. There is not enough of a disincentive at the moment.
  23. Always look forward to your photos, CD. I like the wee captions and the shots of the fans. Good work!
  24. They had a shocking start to the season, but have climbed the table since - I think they'll be ok (despite shipping 6 goals last weekend!). The politics at the club are horrendous, and they have struggled the past few years as a result. The fans still think they are a big club and deserve to win every match... Glad I chose the mighty 1. FSV Mainz 05!!!
