  1. Our start to the league has been concerning. After being ahead in both games and only getting 1 point is not good enough, but for me we should wait and see where we are after the first quarter of the league is finished. As i said last week Doolan has only been a manager for less than 6 months. I have noticed in the past some teams who just miss out on promotion, seem to carry some sort of hangover into the next season, it happened with Morton the season after we won the league and Arbroath struggled last season after missing out on winning promotion the previous season.
  2. As i thought at the game and now confirmed after watching highlights. McInroy could have had a debut hat trick, we were fortunate that McMillan and Fitzpatrick were in the right places to take advantage when he missed number 1 and number 3 chance but nobody could follow up when he put his shot by the post when set up by Graham. Raith Rovers first goal took a massive deflection off Milne. First league game of the season, imo we should have a better idea of what type of season and what end of the table we will be at after the first 1/4 of the league games have been played.
  3. A well observed (by both sets of fans) minutes silence today for Benny.
  4. I think some should remember that Dools has been our manager for just short of 6 months. This is his first managerial position. He lost a number of our main players from the past few seasons and is building a team with a smaller budget than previous seasons because we now have people in charge of our club who are doing the right thing and are not willing to put the future of the club in danger. He has also had to cope with losing his Father only a few months back. Was i disappointed when we lost the play off final an emphatic yes. Was i disappointed as i left Firhill today again yes. Will Dools make mistakes, of course he will, but if he shows he learns from it, he will be a better manager. Imo unless we go on a run that puts us in danger of going down, the manager should get the backing of everybody at Firhill.
  5. We could've been a goal down before we scored but after we went 1-0 up it was a very end to end and open game. Both teams had chances to score before we went 2-0 up. For most of the second half it looked like we were going to get a win, but when they pulled 1 back, i just felt they would get a point at least. Doolan saying he takes the blame and lesson learned is a positive.
  6. £100 for 18 league games, works out at £5.56 per game, really good deal.
  7. How imaginative, both games involving OF live on TV.
  8. Can only agree with everything already said. Condolences to family and friends. RIP Benny.
  9. Happy to help. Should also add that @stillresigned is one of the main people in the Disabled supporters association and also very helpful. All the best for a speedy recovery.
  10. We got the job done and qualify for the next round, that is all that can be said about today's performance. Great block in the first half from Milne to stop them going in front in the first half, not sure if Mitchell touched the ball onto the bar just before that. Best bit of ball control for me, was the ball boy who controlled a difficult ball well at the JHS. Was really surprised/shocked/nervous when i seen Graham take the ball for the pen, but he made a great job of it and although he didn't do much else in the game he did win it for us. Big improvement required for our league opener at home to Raith Rovers next week.
  11. Good to hear you are out. Hope you get back to Firhill soon. If when you are ready to get back to Firhill you still have mobility issues contact Dougie McIness Disability Access Officer, he is very helpful, his contact details are at the official site.
  12. Hope he is. Need players to get time on the park, before the league starts next week.
  13. Or even 3 Agree. Imo Craigen was underrated, as was Docherty.
  14. Very good news about Harry. I am sure if he had held off until the end of the year he would have had plenty of other clubs looking for his signature on a pca. For me it shows he has faith on what is happening at Firhill. Welcome to Firhill Tomi, hope you manage to bang in the goals for us.
  15. He got a very good reception from Thistle fans, while warming up for Arbroath at the John Lambie stand end a couple of seasons back.
  16. Beat The Spartans at Firhill and win the group is a scenario we would have all accepted. But then we are Partick Thistle after all.
  17. I would hate any team but Thistle winning the group.
  18. From my position in the John Lambie stand it was not easy to see what happened with the first goal, so in my just in post i didn't comment on it. But for the second one, i felt he should have done a lot better. As you say he did have a very good save in the first half, so he possibly earned us a point with that save. It's all about opinions and i am in no way trying to scapegoat anybody. I feel dirty saying this, but looking for a Dundee Utd win on Tuesday night.
  19. You have less than a week. Not enough time.
  20. A young player scoring his first competitive goal, don't think it is anything more than that.
  21. Some of our current squad look as if they could join this.
  22. Hope you get good news on Monday and back at Firhill soon.
  23. All round poor performance from Thistle. We did improve for spells in the second half. For me Sneddon should have done much better for the second goal and as others have said his distribution was way to slow. 2 really good goals from us. How can Graham score a goal like the one he scored and yet be so bad from the spot. Very good goal from Lyon. I know we have another league cup game next week, but a big improvement will be required if we want to take anything (hopefully 3 points ) from our league opener against Raith rovers.
  24. Imo the 4 players who have left will be a big loss. But we all know we couldn't afford them on their previous wages. Again as others have said thanks to the previous board. We shall just need to wait and see who we get in and get right behind them. I am not saying wages are not important, because they are, but i am sure the way our fans have responded to the news of our financial problems will make players realise we are a team worth playing for.
