  1. Suspect lack of news about Bannigan is because the situation is not good. If it was just a knock or strain I'm sure more would've been said. I hope I'm wrong.
  2. I'm perplexed as to why our back room staff are single out for criticism (by some) in relation to injuries when a quick google suggests that most of the time our injury list has not been significantly worse than most sides. Most sides normally have a few players with short-term injuries and a few players with long-term injuries. However, I would expect us to have less than average at the moment, given recent squad turnover and because it is the start of the season. I'm especially perplexed as to why fingers are being pointed at the back room staff because we have a goalie with a damaged wrist and fingers - surely an injury like that comes with the territory?

    Cerny

Not that bothered to see him go. Good shot stopper, poor distribution, woeful negativity. Played his part in the death of decent football at Firhill. Free's up a decent wage - there's plenty of good young keepers
  4. Tend to find that managers that are appointed in a panicked knee-jerk manner end up getting the bullet not too long after. Getting the right person takes time. So unless the board have been on the case behind the scenes, I think the options are very limited. Maybe not the most positive way of looking at it, but that's where we are in my opinion.
  5. I totally get the argument that he doesn't deserve to stay given this season. I also think it might do himself a lot of good to take a break - anyone in his position must be worn out. However if he was going to be sacked, it should've happened well before now. Recruiting a new manager takes time, the new manager then needs to assess the squad which is difficult because it's the close season, then start recruiting players from a diminished. All of that diminishes the chance of any stability or success next season. I wouldn't wait til January to sack him if things are not going well - that would be as silly as removing him now. If things are not going well, he goes in November or early December (as long as a replacement is lined up). My argument is not based on emotion or a sense of loyalty to a long standing servant of the club. It is a head rather than heart based decision. Having said that, I would be so happy to see him turn things around next season.
  6. Having thought about it more, there is not much time to put together a team for next season so the last thing we want is to delay that recruiting a new manager. If I was the Board, I would interview Archie to determine if he still had the appetite and enthusiasm for the job. I'd want to know if he is self-aware enough to understand where he went wrong, and is clear about what he needs to improve both personally and with the team. If I was convinced with his attitude and ideas, I'd let him get on with it, and review in December.
  7. I don't think Thistle will get the option to keep a lot of the players you've listed. They will be free agents and will look to get offers elsewhere. We might have no choice but to build a new team. I'd be happy if we held on to Doolan, Erskine, Bannigan, Fraser, Penrice, Elliott and Keown, however I don't think even that is likely.
  8. While I think Archie would be more than capable of managing the team next season and there's a lot to be said for managerial continuity, I do think it's the end of this particular chapter of Thistle's history. A fresh start, built on the stable foundations of youth development, training complex, and entertaining football is required.

    Frustrated

Not Amazon - it's some phishing pish
  10. Lawless to St Johnstone is a done deal (apparently)
  11. Going by Archie's quote, Nisbet's still in the picture. As long as Penrice, McCarthy, Nisbet, and McLaughlin get some games this season, the development squad will still be motivated.
  12. Well that's Storey announced
  13. I was meaning that we don't normally sign players direct from the continent not age.
  14. Neither did Milan. I'm pretty sure it's Sammon.
  15. I reckon Nisbet will be going out on loan.
  16. BBC match preview says Doolan's returned to training. Archie must reckon we need more options up front. Fair enough, given our scoring record.
  17. Great performance from all the players - Barton, Welsh and Lindsay were stand outs for me. Excellent subs from Archibald too with Amoo giving us the cutting edge at the end. Also good to get one over the Saints considering I live in Perth!

    Flat Earth

I've just read that lunar eclipses can be explained by the presence of an invisible 'anti-moon' which occasionally obscures the actual moon... Ok...

    Flat Earth

Can't believe this thread continues to roll on... Sabbath - the video you posted that purports to explain eclipses... 1) It's a groovy computer simulation - just the sort of thing you pour scorn on normally! But proves absolutely nothing. If the sun and moon are both objects of a similar size orbiting above the earth's flat surface along similar paths, then why have they not collided at some point? Also I don't understand how day and night works if the sun is permanently above the horizon? I'm obviously not clever enough for this new science... 2) The video purports to explain solar eclipses. What about lunar eclipses, where the shadow of the earth is cast on the moon. This was one of the earliest observations which proved the earth was a globe, as no matter where the eclipse happens, the earth shadow is an arc. The more evidence you post, the more laughable your theory becomes. Finally, can you please explain the motive behind all of mainstream science conspiring to dismiss flat earth theory for centuries?
  20. Wasn't there today, but for me the most disappointing thing about this season has been the almost total disappearance of the quick passing football that got us up to the SPL...
