  1. Gattuso would compliment Hugh Murray perfectly. If the board are serious about promotion then they really should push the boat out to get him in. He wouldn't be on that much, and Ian Cameron, Ami Small and Craig Dargo's wages are going spare. I really worry that if we don't sign him then the likes of Dundee, Dunfermline or Falkirk will.

    Eck Out!

Disagree. Though Coyle the player was a wee cheat, Coyle the manager seems a pretty stand-up guy. John Henry and Sandy Stewart are both also at Bolton, and both gave us some excellent service.
  3. Kind of missing the point here. A full-time youngster at an SPL club is going to be on significantly more than an apprentice at Thistle (which is what Griffin was), regardless of how often they play for the first team.
  4. I'd hugely disagree with what is in bold. Lawless was in the first-team squad of an SPL club, whilst Muirhead is giving up a job outside of football to go full-time. I'd imagine both will be on more than Burns (Lawless definitely will), and certainly more than Griffin who was just an apprentice. Murray will definitely be on higher wages than Stewart too. You talk of the remaining players who are out of contract, but it's really just Robertson. The rest are just kids. Re: additional finance from board members. If that is the case then fine, but a) I'm doubtful and b ) it would just be nice to know.
  5. He has a point though. I don't understand where the money is coming from which justifies the apparently glowing financial results we have had recently (as repeatedly mentioned by Jordanhill Jag on here and David Beattie in the press), and which is funding signing/re-signing lots of players with only one senior player leaving. I'm not necessarily complaining, it would just be nice to know who/what is funding it.
  6. And I'd have much preferred Lionel Messi but unfortunately we can only work with the funds we have available. I'd hazard a guess that Baird is either bound for the SPL or for decent money at someone like Dundee or Dunfermline. Pat Clarke is available though.
  7. Disagree. Have watched Teale a few times this season and he has been rank. A St Mirren supporting friend says he has been similarly rank all season.
  8. Sensationally incorrect. The guy was an absolute waster. A few good games at the start of the season and then rotten afterwards.
  9. I agree. I wasn't saying the guy I mentioned was giving 'abuse', he was just very moany and incredibly annoying (I realise the irony in me moaning about his moaning). It was his nonsense opinions that were the problem.
  10. Agreed. There was a guy sitting near me on Saturday who as well as having the worst patter that I've ever heard really seemed to have it in for O'Donnell; moaning every time he touched the ball and even when he didn't. When told by someone to give him a chance and that he was only a young lad, he insisted that he wasn't young but was, in fact, 24 or 25. Numpty. He's a player with some rough edges (i.e. his crossing) but who clearly has the potential to be an excellent player.
  11. Do we though? What responsibilities or power does an 'associate director' have? The cynic in me would suggest that this 'promotion' comes at a convenient time when people are starting to question the make-up of the board and the lack of Thistle fans in it. The cynic in me would also suggest that this promotion doesn't really mean that much and, whilst Mr Reid has been a wonderful servant to the club, an 'associate director' is a fairly meaningless role. I'm pretty sure they don't sit in on board meetings (or at least don't have a vote) and the title is more symbolic than anything. I'm sure Jordanhill Jag will come along soon to reassure us that the board are the kindest and most benevolent of souls, though.
  12. David Beattie has been on the board for years. I don't understand why people always refer to him as if he only joined the board when he was appointed chairman.
  13. Wikipedia tells me he scored 12 goals in over 30 games that season (2008/09). I'm not sure if that amounts to being out of the first-team picture.
  14. Pretty sure that isn't what happened at all. Sutton was at Wycombe, but available for transfer. Both us and Motherwell wanted him, and he went to Motherwell, who were obviously in the SPL. I only remember this as it has been brought up a few times on here over the years and just isn't true.
  15. After one full match and a few sub appearances? I'm so glad us Thistle fans are a patient lot.
  16. I'm pretty sure no approach was ever made and it was just Hughes talking mince in the papers.
  17. After hearing some of the stories about this group, there's absolutely no way I'd want them to be in any way involved in Thistle.
  18. Watched McGuigan's celebrations about 10 times there. Absolutely brilliant.
  19. Massively disagree. I thought he looked promising; won quite a lot of balls in the air and showed a nice touch and some good link-up play. He probably should have done better with his chance in the second half, but for a guy who was making his first start as a pro I thought he played well.
  20. Is Abertay a real uni? Also, which clubs has he been playing for since leaving Celtic as a youth?
  21. Smuggled a bottle of Cactus Jack in too. Mental.
  22. No harm at all, apart from offending my eyes with their Stone Island gear. If they wish to aspire to be sad wee men who fight (or rather, dance about a pavement not fighting) with other men, then all power to them.
  23. I'd like to see less silly wee boys who think they are football hooligans.
