  1. I don't have a problem with Hyde joining Dunfermline. He's a free agent, so it's perfectly within the rules. Nothing different to us signing Stewart. The deal with Lochee, who he never played for, so he could play as a trialist for Dundee is a bit questionable though. Ironically his goal for Dundee against Dunfermline which forced the draw and cost the Pars 2 points could be vital to the title decision at the end of the season. It'll be interesting to see how Dundee get on now that they can't use any more trialists and are down to the bare bones of their squad, They're not totally clear of the play off spot, 6 and 7 points ahead of Ross Co and Cowdenbeath respectively. Both have a game in hand and have been picking up points recently.
  2. The Moscow pitch was replaced by grass for the Man U v Chelsea final.
  3. An artificial surface hasn't been used for a Champions League Final. If you're thinking of the game in Moscow the pitch was grass that night. Russia do you use it for internationals and the Moscow teams for Champions League early round games though.
  4. The combination of severe winters and the rugby has left the pitch in a dreadful state late in the season both years, and it's obvious it's affecting the performance of the team. You've just got to compare the performances of the last 2 weeks. We played some really good stuff on the flat, grassy surface at Kirkcaldy while against Cowdenbeath we could barely string 2 passes together. It's no excuse for the result on Saturday as it was the same for both teams, but the pitch undoubtedly affected the performance. There are a lot of football/rugby ground shares around the UK these days so maybe we should be talking to the other clubs in this situation to find out what they do to lessen the impact of the rugby on the pitch.
  5. Harsh to single Grehan out yesterday when the whole team had a poor day. I thought he was having a decent game until he sclaffed the chance towards the end of the 1st half. Think that really knocked his confidence and he was poor after that. Noticed when he didn't take the chance just after Cowdenbeath went ahead that one of the players, think it was Rowson, went over to him to give him a gee up, so maybe he's the sort of guy who gets down on himself a bit quickly. If that's the case the last thing he needs is the fans getting on his back. In my opinion his general play has been improving over the season which has helped Doolan. Maybe he needs a couple more goals but if he's creating space for Doolan to score instead then he's doing his job as far as I'm concerned.
  6. I hope Rovers go up ahead of Dunfermline and Falkirk too. Got some good mates who are fans and would be happy for them, although at least 1 has said they would rather stay in the 1st division! If reconstruction goes through it'll be 3 down from the SPL next season so I don't fancy the chances of this years promoted team staying up, whoever it is. Hope it goes to the last day of the season and we get a bumper crowd at Firhill.
  7. Really enjoyed that today. Great performance from the entire team. Every one of them was excellent. What a difference to play on a flat, grassy pitch! Amazed in the 1st half when Paton went outside his man before whipping a cross in. Think that's the first time I've seen him do that all season. Then lo and behold in the 2nd half he beat not one, but 2 defenders before digging out a great cross from the by line. Just shows he can do it! He and Boyle were a real danger playing as wing backs.
  8. Snow's forecast to arrive around 9am and last most of the day. Expecting 5-10cm on low ground according to the bloke on Reporting Scotland. Planning to head to Kirkcaldy around noon for a few pints with some Rovers supporting mates, so will probably hear of the postponement in the pub! Edited to add. Mates were saying Rovers had the covers on the pitch since Thursday night.
  9. He thinks it was good for Scottish football!! Unbelievable, I see Peter Lawell is sticking his head in the sand and claiming the behaviour of the Celtic players was fine. Rangers definitely were the major culprits and Celtic may only have picked up 3 bookings but it seems highly likely they spent the game winding Diouf up. What Lawell can't deny was the unacceptable behaviour of his coaching staff. If ever there was an obvious candidate for anger management classes it's Lennon. His reaction to McCoist at the final whistle was ridiculous whatever the provocation. He needs to calm down if only for the sake of his own health. If he can't then Celtic need to remove him from the job. As for Rangers, Walter Smith did Scottish football a serious disservice when he brought in Diouf. I've never seen such an odious character on the football pitch. Smith claimed when he signed that he should get a second chance. Thing is that he's on about his 6th second chance. He's misbehaved on the pitch wherever he's been and sticking him into an OF game was always going to be a recipe for disaster.
  10. Only saw the last 10 minutes of the game so missed whatever it was McCoist did to rile Lennon so much. What was he up to? Whatever it was surely it didn't merit Lennon's reaction. That he is manager of Celtic says a lot about that club. Scumbag of the highest order.
  11. Most ridiculous booking I've ever seen I think. Yet he didn't book Johnston for going to the Queens fans and slapping hands with them. Would also have been a ridiculous decision but at least it would have been consistent.
  12. Strachan played as a trialist for Stenny last week.
  13. Only game off in Scotland today!! Unbelievable.
  14. I'd have been there today, but arrive in Dublin on Tuesday before Scotland game on Wednesday. Would guess there'll be a few jags fans in the same boat.
  15. Useless. I'll be in Dublin for Scotland game!!!
  16. Doesn't sound hopeful. They better make a quick decision at 11 cos planning to leave for Perth at half past!
  17. Young striker at Hearts, so guess it would be a loan as they have quite high hopes for him. Has scored a few in the SPL over the last couple of seasons I think.
  18. Smith obviously not satisfied with having the most hated man in Scottish football in Lafferty, so decided to go after the most hated man in English football too.
  19. Had a tough shift today up against Gibson, but stuck to the task all day and kept him pretty quiet. Been one of our most consistent performers this season so far.
  20. Excellent all round team performance. As most have mentioned Fox, Archie and Rowson superb, but I think Kinniburgh deserves a lot of praise too. Probably the best I've seen him play in a Thistle jersey. Dunfermline had a lot of possession in the 2nd half but I was never worried that they were going to score. A really unusual feeling for a Jags game! Having a confident keeper has made a massive difference to the defence.
  21. He did everything immaculately today, but other than the save right at the end I don't remember him having a difficult save to make, so although he was excellent probably right that he didn't get man of the match. I'd have given it to Archie or Kinniburgh, who played like a central defence who have full confidence in the keeper. Was a pleasure to see a goalie catch every cross he came for. Great bit of business to get him signed up.
  22. Loving the Hibees struggles. A lot of my mates are Hibs fans and am looking forward to welcoming them to Firhill next season. They are in serious trouble. On current form it's hard to see where their next goal is coming from, let alone their next point.
  23. Thanks for the heads up on that. Logged straight on to William Hill and got 2/1. Quids in.
  24. So what happened to Dundee Utd, ICT, Killie etc's opposition to the plans!!? Joke. We keep hearing from Doncaster that a larger league would cost each team £1m a year. How about they actually publish the numbers so the fans can see them. If they go ahead with the plan it will kill Scottish football.
  25. I suppose they can, just can't sign him after the 3 games I guess. I assume there is some limit on the number of trialists a team can use in a game and season? Otherwise Dundee could us an everlasting supply of them until the embargo is lifted.
