  1. Are they allowed to do that with the transfer embargo in force?
  2. Paton's lack of a left foot cost us at the 2nd goal. What was he doing trying to clear it with the outside of his right!
  3. Add in the fact that it means Rangers & Killie could meet 5 times this season and you can see why it didn't attract the punters. Yet the SPL want to persist with a set up that sees sides playing each other 4 times a season.
  4. Snowing in Edinburgh now. Forecast to be heavy through the night. Be surprised if the game is on.
  5. Worst run club in england and have been for years. Don't think I've heard a fan who supports the decision yet.
  6. Stunned was probably the wrong word to use because I know exactly how they got the vote. Blatter's speech telling losers to take the decision gracefully was so transparent. Basically go home and don't bother investigating corruption. I'd expect the opposite to happen and for the English media to go into overdrive. It may partly be driven by sour grapes but if it rids the game of the crooks in charge it can only be a plus.
  7. Absolutely stunned at the choice of Qatar. A country 1/7th the size of Scotland with a population of 1.6m, June temperatures in the 40s and absolutely no football heritage. Total joke. FIFA are so out of touch with the every day football fan it's frightening. The only legacy being left by that choice is the one in Blatter and his cronies bank accounts. Scandalous. In pure footballing terms the least deserving country has won both votes.
  8. Refs are going to get criticised whether they get decisions right or not. Someone's always going to disagree with them. It's part of the game and they know that going in. Celtic's stance at the moment is a disgrace to the game and they should just shut up and get on with it, but for refs to vote to strike over it. What a load of nonsense!
  9. How did Sky manage to hype this "fight" enough for it to be pay per view?? I'd be interested to know how much money they made out of it. I know vey little about boxing but enough to know that Harrison has never shown anything as a professional to merit being anywhere close to a world title shot. Never has a boxer said so much and done so little to back it up. One punch thrown in 3 rounds, what a joke. So glad I listened to it on the radio rather than wasting £15.
  10. Re the lack of effort. A couple of times Flannigan got himself surrounded by Morton players by the touchline and I'm yelling for someone to go and help him out but they all just stood there waiting for either Flannigan to get out of it himself or, as happened on both occasions, lose the ball. He just needed someone to get themselves into a bit of space so he could release the ball. Whether they couldn't be bothered, weren't physically capable or just don't have enough of a football brain I don't know.
  11. I agree to a certain extent, but it's a 2 way street. The fans need to get behind the players and the players need to provide something for the fans to get behind. Today they fell way short of providing any encouragement for the fans and McCall is way out of line with his post match comments. He needs to remember we're paying his wages and it's his duty to provide us with some entertainment. I defy anyone to say he managed that today.
  12. That was diabolical. I gave the team credit for the 2nd half performance at Dens last week but today was unacceptable. It may well have been the worst game of football I've ever seen. Asking punters to pay £17 to sit in the freezing cold to watch that isn't on and for McCall to have a wee pop at the fans in his post match comments is out of order. We didn't force Stewart into a save in 90 minutes and we were lucky Morton were as woeful as we were. Only Archibald, McNamara and Fox (for the one save he had to make!) worthy of pass marks. The rest of them couldn't pass, couldn't shoot straight or control a ball. Sorry to say it but Buchanan looks done. No confidence in front of goal and his hold up play was dreadful. Must have lost the ball 90% of the time. Thought I was watching McConalogue. And what's happened to Cairney. Showed so much promise last season but has gone way backwards this term. Couldn't believe Hodge was subbed for Erskine. He hadn't done much but is at least capable of picking a pass as he'd shown with the ball that put Grehan through a minute earlier. Erskine may show good keepie uppie skills at half time but he hasn't a clue. Never a professional footballer. Haven't left a game so dispirited in a while.
  13. Great news. Badger was one of the main men when I first started following the Jags as a 9 year old in the mid 70s. As a winger myself at the time he was probably my first footballing hero, so definitely worthy of the honour as far as I'm concerned.
  14. Just back from Dens and can't accuse them of lack of character today. After a whirlwind start by Dundee, much as expected given the circumstances, the Jags got stuck right in. Worked their socks off and were very unlucky not to come away without at least a point. If it hadn't been for 2 world class saves from Douglas (never thought I'd say that!) we would probably have picked up the win. Think every jags fan there applauded them off at the end.
  15. I'd decided weeks ago to go up to Dens for this one and what's happened in the last week is completely irrelevant to that decision as far as I'm concerned. It seems that some folk on here have stronger negative feelings towards Dundee than they have positive ones for Thistle. With the big crowd behind them and the (wrongly) perceived injustice of the SFL decision Dundee are likely to be fired up for this one, making it one of our hardest games of this season. Because of that I'd hope as many Jags fans as possible would get up to Dens and get behind the team.
  16. For one thing, he'll place a pass 10 yards IN FRONT OF the wide runner, which gets a move flying. Rowser please note... Great comment about Hardie. It's amazing how rarely Thistle players do this. it drives me mad. It's such a basic thing and one of the first things I was taught when I was a kid. I really wonder what some of them to do at training.
  17. Totally agree. We were one up, keeping possession and there were murmurs of discontent and shouts telling them to get the ball forward. Unbelievable. Is it any wonder Scottish football struggles on the international stage with that attitude. On the continent that sort of possession football is ,quite rightly, applauded.
  18. Everything that's wrong with Scottish football has been highlighted again today with our Scottish Cup draw. At least 5 games a season against the same side, and could be 6 if it goes to a replay, makes no sense. Folk just won't go to see the same opposition time after time. We need more variety. Most fans and players don't like playing the same teams 4 times a season in the league. We need to get rid of it.
  19. I'm 44 so that means Main must be 43, as played against him a couple of times a year all through high school. Scored a fair few too so he's definitely not what we need!!! Sorry Alan! Haven't seen much of Fox. but it's worth McCall having a look at him. Not been convinced by Halliwell from day one. Thought he could have done better at 3 of the goals Raith got on the opening day.
  20. What a complete *****! Falkirk's tactics consisted of the back 4 keeping possession for ages, then punting it forward! Hardly quality football. Yes, they had a lot of possession but rarely looked like doing anything with it.
  21. Don't think I've ever left a Scotland game so frustrated. Not because we lost to Spain, but because the performance showed how much better we could have done in Lithuania or the Czech Republic if Levein had shown more faith in the players. His negative tactics in both games are going to come back to haunt us this campaign.
  22. Heard today that Hardie was offered the chance of the loan to Firhill a couple of weeks ago but was waiting till after the 2 Ross Co games cos he didn't fancy the 2 trips up to Dingwall!
  23. Beat me to it. i'd just been checking the 2010 record too. I'd given McCall the benefit of the doubt up to Cowdenbeath, but no more. If he looks at that record he has to admit it's time to move on.
  24. First time I've been to Central Park, What a disgrace. How does a place like that get passed for league football. Has to be the bumpiest pitch I've ever seen, including ours after having a season of the egg chasers on it. To get charged £15 to get into a dump like that is not on. What happened to them having to do £200k of work to get it up to standard, or alternatively ground sharing? That story was kicking about in the summer but seems to have died a death.
