  1. There's a shortfall between his current pay and what may well have to be offered. Perhaps something like this is the sort of thing a Jags Trust/Supporters association should be looking at. Naturally need the fundraisers in place first of all. Just my opinion but something ringfenced where funds go direct to the manager would hold greater appeal than simply going into the Club kitty.
  2. What claim? All I'm saying is if we produce a player thru our system it's easier to tie the lad to a contract than if we bring in a player from elsewhere. I'd have thought that was fairly obvious.
  3. Agreed. At the time I thought Fox was just tempting Higginthingy and he'd move over in time. I wouldn't have faulted Fox if the ball had gone in the other corner. We had a bit of height in the wall so it would have taken an exceptional free kick to score.
  4. I mind that Stewart & Balatoni, though both not Jags players at that particular time, turned up at the Firhill Cup day. Paul Cairney reffed a good few of the games.
  5. For those that look at Sinclair, O'Donnell and Elliot and say "why the bother of raising our own youngsters" it's got to be noted that imported young players are far harder to tie down on contract. It's likely then if we produce a kid of equivalent talent that we'll be able to receive a greater return as in a subsequent transfer fee.
  6. Without doubt that's the SFL's field of expertise. Given a considerable proportion of their support lives outside Dingwall many County fans will have difficulty getting to the game as well. New Year and Boxing Day fixtures should be for derby games only. By playing Challenge Cup games midweek at least a couple of Saturday's could have been freed up.
  7. Needn't have bothered. Just claim it was a gypsy spell. Sorry about that, coat's on
  8. To enlarge on that or maybe just a different take, had he answered "yes the Warriors are leaving at the end of the season" then there would undoubtedly have been a series of follow up questions regarding that subject. One of the plus points of the evening was the wide subject matter discussed. A big turn off at previous less well attended meetings at Firhill I've attended has been side tracking where one particular subject comes under almost forensic scrutiny to the detriment of other items of importance or interest. I'm not condoning anyone being economic with the truth, if that has indeed occurred, more pointing out that there can be a plus side to such action. Besides on this specific I can think of a few possible reasons why an evasive answer might have been preferable. We all want our chairman to be straight with us but at the same time we surely don't want him being naively blunt.
  9. As I understand the loss of income will be £100K a year with two years remaining of the contract therefore where the £200K comes from. What I'm not clear about is whether the Club knew the 5 year contract was never going to be renewed. If they were well aware it wasn't to be renewed then the break off with two years remaining, tho' still a shock to the system, wouldn't quite be the bombshell that would hit us if we tentatively believed the Warriors would be here for a sixth or seventh year.
  10. I'm not over impressed by Stewart but given a chance at goal he's pretty much always on target. I was thus surprised at his effort yesterday. That said it looked slightly more difficult a finish than his similar goal against Morton
  11. Met an old friend yesterday in Tennents, a Jags man, I hadn't seen for a good while. He's well into his eighties now but was reminiscing about that great day as if it was just last week. Then last night there were loads of fans in attendance not even born back then. That game means so much to so many both old and young.
  12. Much appreciated as always, Tommy. Busy day for you yesterday.
  13. Meant to add that I was very impressed with Willie Collum yesterday. Felt he more than lived up to his billing. Grudging respect for the SFL. I was rather wary of the Friday night football experiment and even more so of playing a football match without a competent referee but both initiatives appear to have merit. If I was a neutral I'd seek out a game where Willie C was out there strutting his stuff. To hell with the result that young man is sheer entertainment.
  14. Very true. Had Doolan scored I'd like to believe we'd have pushed on and not sat back. Had we not we'd only have ourselves to blame when we go and lose two preventable goals. With the exception of the Raith & Q o S games and the first half at Dingwall we've by and large played good entertaining football so far.
  15. I think I heard rightly when it was said our average age yesterday was 22. Falkirk's I believe was significantly lower than that making yesterday's game played collectively by about the youngest players I can mind. I felt a draw was just about right tho' we probably shaded it. Three of the goals looked preventable and the whole match hinged on Murdoch hitting the crossbar.
  16. Great player, real Thistle legend . If I mind correctly Wallace was the late replacement for Jimmy Johnstone in the Wembley game in '67. Excellent game that day.
  17. Book of Lambie (chapter 3, verse 14)
  18. Plenty of pubs in the area, Marcus. There's also a supporters bar at the ground. You could either walk up from the City Centre or get the subway (tube) to St Georges X. Usually direct visitors to the Woodside On Maryhill Rd close to the subway or the Star & Garter on Garscube Rd (closer to the ground). We're also going for a wee bevvy over at Hampden Pk in the evening the more the merrier
  19. Hey, stop nitpickin'. They got Big Boab's first name right and were doing excellently with the first two letters of his surname
  20. Not been a good week for them. First Dale Farm now this.
  21. God save the Queens St Loyal btw when drinks involved I'm often asked to leave well before the end.
  22. Bugger. I'll be at the mercy of Scot Rail. Gotta be back in the Town centre for 11pm .
  23. Exactly. McNamara prefers O'Donnell, Hutton, Sinclair & Elliot over who we've produced at the present time. Each player has done exceptionally well. The three we've signed also have considerable pace. To say McNamara prefers players from other clubs to players who've come thru our ranks is either presumptive or disingenuous. I thought he made himself quite clear at the meeting in the Aitken Suite.
  24. What's all this about footballers and sitcoms? There all at it now, most notably the ex Hearts duo Craig Thomson & Alan Lithgow with Are You Being Perved?
