Mason would have been nothing without Della Street.

That's what I'd have thought so how come I can hardly think of any? I've been beaten to John Hansen who undoubtedly could have gone on to get more caps (even if he played in an era when Sandy Jardine and Danny McGrain were about). I feel injuries hampered Hardie's career after he left us and I'm kinda surprised Marc Smyth's not gone up a level (he may still do).

Completely agree. It's indeed a sad reflection on modern society when parents can't control their kid's language. Ah, that would be an ecumenical matter.

I can still mind when I was middle aged and just a bit thick.

So what? You two are just collateral damage. Surely you can see the bigger picture. Rejoice in the fact that the SFL (and the SPL for that matter) have suddenly wakened up (they were having a nap May, June & July) and are now prepared to listen to the fans call for change. True this is not a change the fans wanted but it's a change nonetheless, so be grateful. I used to think the SFL/SPL were just clueless now I see them as extremely clueless. See, there's another change

Looks like the time to drop it voluntarily rather than wait for the inevitable. Cynic in me says that with a polis squad now specially set up they'll be looking to justify their existence. Cynic in me also senses they'll go for soft targets and not the chronic perpetrators from elsewhere in the city. As an aside I can't see how the song itself could be described as sectarian, so if folk have to stick a label on it then I can see where they could tag it political. For all I know even just discussing the rights and wrongs on a forum could be playing into the hands of the knuckledraggers.

I'd advise you to get your hearing checked. BTW just as a matter of interest do your rumours stretch further than Victoria Pk or Dingwall for that matter?

I thought he had a decent enough game. Took a knock yesterday but if that doesn't flare up I'd be surprised if he doesn't hold his place ahead of Balatoni.

Wasn't at the game but it was a League Cup tie. Surprised the game went ahead as the Fiefdom of Berwick being still at war and all that.

Raith Rovers Pictures On-Line

and also very much appreciated by those who made it btw lay out a few carafes on the grass, stick a couple of French straw boaters on the heids of Archie & the County chap and you've the makings of a modern day Renoir HERE -
It was a strange game. For a large part we weren't winning the second balls. I wouldn't go as far as to say we weren't competing just being outmuscled. When we did manage to get on the ball we looked good. As the game went on we eventually started winning the one on one battles and finished the game as if we had two or three more men than them, Almost every player was very good on the ball and at times the whole team played the best football so far this season. The Erskine substitution made a significant difference. He played mostly wide left, which is not considered his best position and I thought the team looked quite effective playing with a bit more width (Cairney went wide right).

Because we love Thistle so much distance doesn't come into it. Anyway my boss is a Jags lovin' softie. Well he was this morning when I looked in the mirror. You're up early, uber. Thought you weren't going to the game?
-
and if that the case then no contracted Jags player is dropped to accommodate Hutton. I don't want to see Robertson again playing in midfield. Hopefully Hutton coming in will mark time till Bannigan or perhaps Campbell is ready in the manager's eyes to play regularly in midfield.

Yeh I see what you mean. Purring away in the background like a Rolls Royce engine there's just no call to lift the bonnet. I see the SPL are just as competent by selecting the Aberdeen v Pars fixture for a Friday night boost. It's not that Dunfermline fans will have far to travel or that much of the Dons fanbase come from out of town or anything. We're really blessed that Scottish football is in the safe hands of the like of Mssrs Doncaster & Longmuir.

If Hutton is match fit I wouldn't be surprised at that starting line up. If Hutton is not expected to put in 90 mins more likely to play 4-4-2. In fact as the lad won't have really had any training with our lot we may be better with the extra midfielder.

I wouldn't be surprised if the crowd ain't bad but with Morton doing well in the league it was always going to be a decent turn out. As for doing it again if it looks a goer, fair enough, but not this season. That would be totally unfair on many season ticket holders. Anyway three questions.... What genius came up with this Friday night malarkey that couldn't have thought it up prior to the fixture list coming out? Why us as guinea pigs? Why mess about with the fixture that was always going to be one of our better attended games? If it all goes pear shape are we going to be compensated by the SFL? Oops that was four questions

Not often we trump Dundee or Falkirk on a deal . If this works out is it possible rules wise to get him on loan from January onward?
-
Certainly not before he gets a proper nickname

Did anyone here (I certainly did) wonder what all the fuss was about James McCarthy? Imo McArthur, Easton & Neil impressed far more. I'd suggest if the raw talent is there, even if the guy's not a stand out in our lowly division, then there's every chance the lad could go for a decent enough fee. Suggest it's another semi-nonsense story.

Perhaps the only difference between Levein and a better manager would be he'd manage to get us into the play offs. Might even manage to qualify but we'd probably be humiliated in the group stage. Getting a more suitable manager would be an improvement. Humiliation in the group stage would be an improvement as well but I think we'd be kidding ourselves on in believing that a change of manager would bring hugely significant change in fortune. It's the lack of leaders on the park that's badly missed. Guys who don't have to look over at the bench every couple of minutes for inspiration and instruction. To repeat we've had Scotland bosses before that weren't let's say the "strongest" of managers but have decent track records and many of our best results occurred under their reign. I don't feel that success was all down to playing ability. As Lambie would say we need a few heid cases.
-
I don't want us to play 3-5-2 unless at least one central defender is prepared to get forward in open play. Robertson might have been that sort of player but appears not to carry an attacking threat. Maybe O'Donnell is that type of player but I've no idea about him.
-
I'm not that sure that I agree with you, HJ, simply because so many before have crossed what should be the line of no return only to crawl back across again. In that respect Fletcher can call on precedent. Would he be that worse than so many who have gone before him? What I will say tho' is that every time someone returns to the fold and allows himself to be once again selected is a real turn off. He's usually even feted for such a magnanimous gesture something I suspect pisses off so many Scots even further. Myself I'm old school and was happier with days gone by when we'd inexplicably field guys like Frank Munro, Hugh Curran, or Davie Dodds. Guys that shouldn't have been anywhere near proximity of being selected for Scotland but poor as they were would at least have been as proud as punch to play for their country.

A Couple Of Qs About The Jags Trust Board
lady-isobel-barnett replied to stolenscone's topic in Main Jags forum
I suppose you would Sorry, I was coming more from the fund raising angle and in that sense I used the word "unified". In that respect the JT seems to be limited given that too many folk, many of whom I suspect would have considerable input re fund raising, have distanced themselves from that organisation. I'm much less interested in the reasons each individual has felt it necessary to withdraw from the Trust than the fact they have.
