  1. I tend to agree. Mind you Buchanan has quite a decent scoring record against Dunfermline.
  2. In today's ET McCall says he's trying to extend Balatoni's loan spell.
  3. Could be an age thingy, BJ . Even without Balatoni there's still cover at centreback. There's Kinniburgh, Archie, McNamara & McGeough. Even if it's three at the back if an injury occurs Rowson or Lochhead can cover. Loyal players are often released early so if Robbo is not in McCall's plans for next season he could be one to go. That said the gist of the article imo hints at younger players leaving.
  4. Hinchcliffe, Maxwell, McNamara & Donnelly are I believe on a pittance. Anyway McCall's wording that the players he has in mind have a "future elsewhere" suggests they'd be younger. I guess one will be a forward (Buchanan, Doolan or Grehan) and the other(s) from the midfield. Strange tho' it is (to me anyway) I can neither think of an obvious choice nor will I be surprised no matter who he has in mind. Apart from Grehan and the youngsters I can't actually think of any fringe players.
  5. Off on a tangent here as far from worth a thread of its own. With all this SPL/SFL talk of revamping the leagues, winter shut downs etc a supporters trust should be bombarding its membership with e mails & post to seek out fans opinions. David Beattie should have had those opinions at hand prior to sounding off in the press. Of course a supporters trust in the first place should be representative of fans opinions by its sheer size.
  6. that's the same idiot that's just been on the telly championing the proposed 10 club leagues. In fairness the guy's consistent. He seems happy to see followers of the international game treated similar to those who watch the club games. Sadly that's with contempt.
  7. thinking sideways with this. What about about a further draw where you can guess which day the CF draw takes place? Another money spinner?
  8. That's what I was thinking David Beattie has in mind. From a corporate point of view I just think the folk that use hospitality are more free on a Saturday afternoon. I'd certainly be concerned at upsetting current season ticket holders. If it was in conjunction with a March-November season Friday night football might be more appealing. I just can't get my head round summer football in the first place.
  9. I wouldn't dismiss play offs out of hand but not for the outright league winner. Places 2,3,4 & 5 could play off for the second top Euro place (whatever that is). They could split profits 5 ways with the champions getting a share.
  10. David Beattie on reform Haven't heard too many folk in favour. To be fair that's a selective quote as David is also advocating Summer football. I'd maybe be more interested in Friday night football if I knew what those opportunities were. I'd have thought selling hospitality and season tickets would actually be harder.
  11. Congrats! I see you've also won a prize in the CF draw.
  12. I think all this Falkirk anger at the call off is really just posturing. Embarrassed in front of their hospitality guests they're trying to save face by diversion. Easiest way to do that is to blame anyone but themselves. Have a wee bit of sympathy as it's the sort of thing I'd do.
  13. Thanks for that. Some good stuff in here. I love THIS Brilliant name Mr P Queen Tosney as has his predecessor William Poultry. P Queen Tosney seemed to be quite a busy lad Mr P Queen Tosney a freemason whereas Mr Wm Poultry was a free ranger.
  14. As I understand it a "Sunday Service" means there's no fare as such but on leaving there'll be some sort of collection. Prior to that song sheets are handed out (probably at the top of the escalators) and you'll be expected to sing along to at least a couple of ditties. In between these ditties there'll be a little bit of communal shut eye while the fellow running the show will do some talking. Once you wake up he'll probably then want to make a longer speech. I'm a bit confused as to what will make this Sunday Service "special". I'm taking a wild stab at it and guessing it most likely is connected to the sad passing of Captain Beefheart. Hope I've been of some help
  15. Surely Halliwell should have been amenable to Hinchcliffe's coaching. we could go round in circles here.
  16. Sorry, Gimp, much as I admire what you do that comment is nonsensical.
  17. This is a great thread even if nostalgia ain't what it used to be. My own generalised view about Glasgow pubs, which I could back up with a load of boring near facts & anecdotes, is that, with the exception of a few well known glaring examples, they're not exceptionally one way or other. If you really want to visit an OTT Rangers/proddy tavern or a Celtic/cafflick howff you have to travel to the likes of deepest Lanarkshire or middlest Fife to discover real Bigotville.
  18. OK there's only a handful of fans here have voiced their opinion about friday night games. That said it's fair to say there's virtually no endorsing opinion in favour. McLeish given a free hand would have us Div 1 clubs subjected to such an initiative(?) in exactly the same way he champions us playing a minimum of 4 games a season against each club in the same division. This guy is truly a complete arse. Questions also have to be asked of the idiots who commissioned the clown in the first place.
  19. Heard him yesterday going on about Friday night football for SFL clubs. More HERE. Firstly whether in favour or not, once again has Joe Public ever been consulted about this? Secondly I don't do polls but how do folk on here think about Friday night football? Will you be able to go? If not would it affect whether you bought a season ticket or not? My own view without giving it much thought is I'd be OK with it in autumn and spring but certainly not for about 4 mths of the season (start of Nov till end of Feb). If it brings in cash from live television it could be a winner but TV companies would want continuity throughout the season and I really can't see winter games on a Friday night being popular. Any thoughts?
  20. Always been my guiding rule of thumb thingy too. Used to be quite difficult when the likes of Forest were playing Liverpool. There would probably on average be about 7 or 8 Scots on the field. Don't mean this as a quiz question but which club in the Premiership normally play the most Scots?
  21. I think the guy who bought it owns over a dozen pubs (Alison Arms and Beechings spring to mind). He also owns one in Broxburn that he's been trying to offload for some time. He most certainly doesn't specialise in themed timmydom premises.
