I think both players only got their first match practice about 10 days ago in a bounce game. They can't have had that much more football since. If they are coming it may well be better for all concerned if this isn't too imminent. After tomorrow we've a fortnight till our next league game.

I trust we all realise if Dundee were unable to complete their fixtures our entire league points for the season would be forfeited. For the season so far, I mean .

I always thought there was a lot of mileage in the Great Glasgow Alternative slogan. Certainly light years ahead of all that real Scottish football nonsense that replaced it. We should push the all inclusive broad church aspect, highlight the community initiatives. Even if it means playing up to perceived stereotypes (as luvvies, students etc) get across the message we're the Glasgow club of the independent minded. Avoid direct comparisons with the ugly sisters but at the same time make it obvious we don't have the hang ups and historical baggage associated with them.

I took that as dependent on our league position. Hopefully later on in the season we'll be in a comfort zone and can play the likes of Bannigan & Scully. With our current league situation now might not be the best time to play them. Imo above would surely be relevant to Scully but I'm not so certain Bannigan can't get the odd game just now.

I think you should really start your own poll rather than second guessing.

Month long deals don't sound so good. They'd both need a couple of games to get match fit if all they've been playing is bounce games. Hardie's good for dead balls right enough.

I'd say more correctly the results have to change to stop the mass exodus from Firhill. Personally I would be surprised if the Board were to find money that they'd use it to pay off McCall. I'd think it more likely they'd give McCall the cash in January. Either scenario appears to be rather unlikely. I can see fans depart over McCall but I'm not so certain they'd return to watch the same players managed by the likes of some of the more realistic guys available. Besides the cash being used for the pay off would have to be recouped elsewhere, which would probably preclude making an offer attractive enough for all but untried novices (McNamara/Donnelly, Maxwell) or the serially sacked (Paul Hegarty, anyone?) Btw we've just seen the departure of three directors who anecdotally or otherwise were evidently keeping folk away from Firhill. I assume those fans are now going to return .

Something about this doesn't sound right. I wouldn't have thought directors of a company could do that. I'd have thought the loans would have to have come from an independent source . That's one for the financial gurus in our midst to explain.

A lot there I can agree on but ... 1/the team appears to not know how to win or even get a draw. 2/we may man for man have better players than quite a few of our rivals but what should on paper be adequate to achieve mid table status is showing no signs of being fulfilled on the pitch. 3/I don't see the situation as early in the season so much as late in the year. When you factor in performances & results Jan-May last season then McCall's position is rightfully being questioned. Is it something like 22pts out of 75? That's about the equivalent of about 32pts for a season more or less guaranteeing straight relegation I tend towards keeping IMcC as I can't see a financial way of getting rid of him, an obvious successor (again as much due to finances as folk waiting on the wings) and I've still a bit of faith in him. That said others who want he out can hardly be said to be unrealistic or deluded.

Not that I disagree with you, DD, but the last team he put out was not exactly world beaters or indeed full of grit & confidence. For the record..... I read somewhere that the SPL now have a 9pt penalty for a club going into administration. Even if there was a 15pt deduction back in 03/04 neither Dundee or Livi would have been relegated. We'd still have finished bottom. And of course the season before there was no relegation as the Motherwell rule applied.

I was under the impression that we received the full amount up front.

Please don't misquote me. Where did I say anything about the present team being better than 70s 80s & 90s sides? Iirc I said our present team would beat a team from the mid 80s. As to that let's just say my argument is getting progressively weaker . Btw I did hear our most eminent supporter just yesterday say today's shower aren't the worst but I never asked RR what lot were. I'm happy to go along with him but will when I next see him ask what team he considers was the worst. Let's just hope for all our sakes he'll be talking in the past tense.

Beaten by Stirling Albion 2-4 . Albion definitely deserved their win even tho' their first goal was from a dubious penalty. A mitigating factor for us was a good few of our more advanced youngsters were being held back for the Reserve game. Nobody really impressed against a bigger faster & stronger Stirling side apart from Shepherd in goal and Burbridge, quite a busy attacker. First look at the Aussie, Sweeney, and can't say I was impressed. I assume that without the likes of Burns, Fraser, Baxter & Lochhead today's game was a bit false. Didn't help with the lad Dunbar getting sent off for two yellows but that was quite late on. Oh, I can't mind the score but I'm told the under 17s got beaten as well in a bad tempered game. Maybe we'll win the reserve game , please .

Think I'll go along and watch the Under 19s at Stirling today. Win lose or draw you always get 90mins of effort.

I agree entirely. There's also the added advantage of the younger players playing alongside McNamara & as likely as not Donnelly.

Well I for one hope he doesn't stay away. I quite like all that panto villain stuff. Much more fun than issuing legal letters etc.

Also neither Robertson nor Rowson, who when fit are near certain starters, are what you could describe as inspirational captain like players. Unarguably very good pros but most definitely not natural leaders. Usually when a good pro starts to fade he can hold his place because of his leadership qualities. Sadly not one of our older players fits that bill. I wasn't there today but when the fight goes out a side and the heads go down you've got to question the captaincy. No way am I excusing McCall but there's only so much a manager can do to influence a game after kick off. Certainly not as much as the experienced players that are on the pitch.
