  1. Isn't that always the case with the Jags? I recall Neil Duffy reflecting on his time as a Jag saying that when we finished 3rd in the league our problem was that we "just couldn't score enough goals"! I have a lot of favourites and Neil Duffy and George Niven were I think my top two. As far as today is concerned I am happy with 5 (and of course the 3 points).
  2. Good proposal but which lacks balance as you offer, in terms of options, 2 for a home win 2 for a draw and 3 for an away win. Your proposal, which has merit could do with a third home win option giving 3-2-3! I suggest the following: Home win- both teams playing well going toe to toe and creating chances with the Jags just shading an exciting attacking game.
  3. We won, keeping a clean sheet, beating a team who just trounced Livingston and who must have fancied their chances against us! I think until we get Lawless, McKay and perhaps a fully fit Ablade back we may have to accept that the free scoring team of recent seasons is, for the moment, just not going to happen. Perhaps we can look forward to next year! In the meantime 1 goal wins and clean sheets will do me.
  4. Thanks boys. So that's it confirmed - a win for the Jags.
  5. What type of surface do Dunfermline have, grass or Astro?
  6. A Dunfermline win v Livingston was a surprise and by 3-0 was an even bigger surprise. Their players will be high on confidence and given our indifferent form and 'slow' start to the season will be looking at this game as a certain 3 points. I think if we press them from the start and let them know we are up for a game their confidence will receive a dent! An early goal would be even better. Jags to win a close and I suspect a physical game.
  7. Just looked at highlights. I thought the Jags played well when keeping the ball on the ground. QP ladies also had dome nice football/passing phases as well when they kept the ball on the ground. The individual skill levels of Jags Ladies was impressive, particularly twisting and turning to make space or change direction. Perhaps the wind was a factor but I though our finishing was poor tending to be hurried and lacking composure. Decision making in final third was also a bit suspect. All in all a good performance but really we should have been at least 5 up by the time we scored our second goal. Unless Motherwell have improved dramatically I think we are still favourites for another top 6 finished. Our next game v Motherwell coming up soon will be a good marker for the rest of the season. Well done and best of luck to Jags Ladies.
  8. Diack has my sympathy. Last season he was certainly an impact sub coming on for Graham, scoring goals and generally showing good attacking form and creating problems for defences. He might have expected a bigger role this season. However when he has come on he has looked slow and not really fit or we'll motivated. It must be sole destroying for players to train hard week in and week out and knowing they are not going to be playing at the weekend. I suspect Diack will feel his career is now going backwards and he, like Dowds, will leave at the first oppoutunity.
  9. I would be happy with this as it means two games less to play in the play-off stages. Is Adeloye coming back to Thistle?
  10. I agree with your comments. However in this case it looks clear to me that Graham jumps to head the ball and keeps his eyes on the ball. The keeper seems slow to react to the header back across the goal and is do far off that he jumps into Graham. I couldn't see a foul as the challenge was keeper on Graham and not the other way around.
  11. I wasn't at today's game and it will be a while before I will be able to see the Jags in action. I was going to ask about the goal that was chalked off but this has been answered above. The league table is looking better tonight (no real difference at the top as 4 of the 5 top teams won, QP being the exception) as there is a little bit of a gap opening up between the bottom 3 and the top 5 with Morton and Hamilton caught in between. I'm a bit surprised the bottom 3 are Airdrie, Dunfermline and Raith. Queens game in hand is away to Morton who can be stuffy at Cappilow. I fancy either a Morton win or a draw - can't see Queens winning this one. It's good to see us back in the top 4 and that Ayr and Livingston are within touching distance .... but we do need to keep winning continuing with next week at Dunfermline!
  12. Who do you consider were the good ones?
  13. With the exception of the 1-6 game, away games against Hamilton have been generally close. As we are not the free scoring team of recent seasons I expect a close game tomorrow and I am hopeful of a win. It will all depend on two things happening. We play well and the referee is competent and impartial. In other words does his job. Fingers crossed. 2-0 the Jags.
  14. Very good result today which keeps us in 6th place. Our main challenger for 6th at the moment seems to be Motherwell whom we beat recently 4-0 at Motherwell. Next weeks games are interesting. We are at home to Hearts and Motherwell are away to Rangers. I think we have a better chance of beating Hearts as games, with one exception that I can recall, tend to be quite close affairs, than Motherwell have of beating Rangers. We need the team to be on form as a team and a fair referee. In the games I have watched live the referees have been very biased in favour of Hearts. If we can do something against Heart we will put some distance between us and Motherwell. Fingers crossed we are due a result against Hearts.
  15. Head scratching is correct. With this 11 it could be any formation! I'll keep it simple and go for 3-5-2; or 4-1-3-2 or ....... think I'll just give up. I only hope Doolan and especially the players know what formation they are supposed to be playing!!
  16. If memory serves me correctly you need a minimum length of service/employment before a claim on the grounds of unfair dismissal can be made. I am not sure what the minimum length is but think it is now 12 months ( up a number of years ago from 6 months). The exception to this is discrimination where no length of employment (or in fact employment) is required. There is nothing stopping the player raising a civil action against the club other than would the cost of doing so be worth any anticipated financial gain. I'd be surprised if a civil action was worth it!
  17. Could be 442 or 4132 4-4-2 as follows: Neilson, Muirhead, O'Reilly & Milne. Stanway, Turner, McBeth & Crawford. Ablade & Graham. 4-1-3-2 - McBeth plays on front of the back 4 and we have a midfield of 3. With Fitzpatrick and Chalmers on the Bench there is always the option of reverting to the formation which hasn't worked for us so far this season. I like the 2 up-front and would expect Diack to come on for Graham (barring injury) around the 60th minute. Although the above selection by Doolan looks solid there are all sorts of issues that could be considered like how will we create chances with no wide players, will Milne still get forward, can Turner get beyond the strikers quickly enough and can our two strikers out-battle the Ayr central defence. If we can't do the latter then we will be stimmied! Think having seen Doolans selection I will go for a dull, boring 0-0!
  18. Nice to see that a typo can stimulate such a flow of creativity! Should I pass this onto Kris Doolan? Could send him a message full of typos!!
  19. Love this strip. Wonder if players names on the Bach will be in red or yellow or both?
  20. Tshimanga looks a really good potential signing. If we were fortunate enough to get him it would suggest to me that we are looking to play with 2 up front - Tshimanga and Ablade - with Graham and perhaps Diack on the bench. I think we are moving, very slowly, away from the notion that Graham should be an automatic starter. However I wonder how we can afford to sign a player like Tshmanga when we have only 75K in the bank. I also wonder why, having watched the video clip, he is not playing regularly with his club, Peterborough who are lying 7th in league one!
  21. Just watched the highlights of the game v Glasgow City. Appreciate it's only highlights but thought we played some good stuff and with some better decision making would have scored a goal perhaps two. The penalty claim was a good one and it doesnt fill you with confidence when the Referee andvhis assistants fail to see a player being clearly pulled off the ball. A clear penalty and red card. Shocking refereeing from the officials. Bet a pound to a penny it would have been given at the other end.
  22. I think we will win this game. Everything is in our favour. Falkirk flying high, scoring goals and having just beaten Heart will be overflowing with confidence. We on the other hand haven't won in 4 games, failed to score on last three games and are in oor form. Provided we don't get Nick Walsh to referee the game it's a cert 3 points for the Jags.
  23. Who was the referee and was the red card an appropriate and correct decision?
