  1. Ally McCoist has aged enormously in the last couple of years. He is no longer a 'cheeky chappie', more a careworn member of the human race. I think his 'chances' with Sue Barker have plummeted. Welcome to reality Ally!
  2. The few games I have seen this season. I absolutely love the type of football we are playing. This is the classiest act ever. And I was there in 1971! Expect a few call up's to the international side, Fox and Aaron Sinclair for instance,
  3. We do sash and case window refurbishment. What we need is someone that can contribute from day one. You do not need to know a great deal about this, you do need to be physically fit and not be dizzy about heights. We will not place anyone at 'risk' and will provide you with safety harnesses, etc, We will teach you all the rest of it. Right now, the offer is short term and casual. We will do our best to make this a more permanent position. We are not interested in anyone that see's this as a one day job that they can walk away from. We are interested in someone that see's this as something more long term for both you and us. If you are interested, please reply as below: [email protected]
  4. Wish I had been there. Completely knackered, but believed we had lost at 1-0 down. Last update I saw and thought that was that! We can do this First Division stuff!
  5. thebiglemon, The odds seem to me about right. Bet on PTFC to win! I got 2.8, so the odds are falling!
  6. Erskine, wide left hits ball across penalty area, Craigan converts. It is a moment like that that make, not just games, but seasons. Magic! In an otherwise trench warfare game of football. It is people like that, that make the difference between being five points ahead and a game in hand and not. I hope we can retain as much of this team as Archie wants to although some of our younger players must be interesting scouts from England. We should be telling these lads that a decent start in the SPL could see their value and potential earnings skyrocket. Anyway, that was amongst the most emotional nights I have ever spent at Firhill.
  7. That was tough, and I think it will have taken a lot out of the team. But Wednesday always was the bigger day.
  8. I think if we go up, and ether or all of Lawless, Craig or Doolan or all three can keep up their scoring rate, well, Scotland needs you son. They have to prove it at that level though. I am a tad astounded that Chris Erskine isn't even mentioned.
  9. It is really interesting to compare this team to the one we had back then. I think this team, if we can keep it together, has the potential to be better. I do not think the Premier League is as difficult to survive in. You only have to look at ICT and Ross County to see the possibilities for survival and growth. An early cup win, breaking the hoodoo of 1921, 1971 would be good. :-)
  10. I am hoping it will be an enjoyable game. I have always had a great time at the away days at Dumfries. Perhaps you could oblige me by doing a double promotion. May the best team on the day win! I suspect it might be us
  11. I am absolutely delighted that the Board has seen sense. Their record is better than Jackies, and I loved what Jackie did with this football club. Is it, perhaps unbelievable, that we are being, err, a bit more consistent these days? We have a great shout at being promoted. Happy days.
  12. It's a real shame you won't be able to use it yourself.
  13. Harry Wragg. You say: "Sittin here at home and feelin like a real a*****e after todays result....." You should just have stopped at that ;-)
  14. Macnamara wasn't, exactly, a known genious as a manager when we took him on, now was he? He worked out, and I think Mr Archibald might too. We have an interim manager with a good record, we should go with that, no?
  15. I think you are being a fan with a typrewriter. Best of luck with that. 'i' before 'e' is not a universal rule. Seize, weird, vein, foreign, eider, their, feisty, so even grammar doesn't guarantee that you will be above us in the league at the end of the day. Carpe diem to Thistle, in other words seize the day
  16. We have just won by four clear goals away from home! My eyesight isn't what it used to be, but, looking through the Airdrie game programme, I don't think we have had a better result, away from home, this season. I was concerned that Archie might be a defensive manager. This result shows otherwise. Wish I'd been there. Archie for manager!
  17. Teams, absent Dundee who got there in strange circumstances, seem to have gone up from the first division to the Premier League and, well, worked their passage. Both ICT and Ross County seem to be more than holding their own. This reminds me of times past. We have, potentially, as good a team now as we had back in the early '70's. It would be good to see how it worked out for us next season.
  18. I think we might just have found a brilliant management team. Early doors, but it is all looking good. Just one wee point. We didn't lie back on our lead, we took the game to them. Sometimes that won't work out, but it is a bit better than hoofing the ball out of play for the last twenty minutes. Dunno about you, but I have watched us lose all three points by trying, and failing, to defend leads more times than I care to remember...............
  19. Cammalain @ 09:45pm, This could go viral! We get goals shown internationally that aren't a patch on that. Get your sponsorship sorted out :-) It is genuinely a brilliant goal, up there with the best. I am so grateful that you managed to capture it.
  20. I watched the ball hit the postage stamp and I knew it was a great goal. Watching that clip made me realise just how great it was. On the volley and off a post! Unstoppable! Thanks very much for putting that up on here, I've watched it about a dozen times now too! Cheers.
  21. I was, sadly, not there. However, I think our manager has to have a long talk with the player. That is unless you just throw folk onto the scrap heap. Some of you have said he gave away a penalty for no reason. That is what the discussion should be about. I am pretty sure that this gladatorial approach to people's careers has no place in the real world. Let Alan have a chat with him and we'll see where it goes from there.
  22. Well, it's only my second game of the season, but that was just ridiculous. In a good way. Am I wrong to say that their keeper kept them in it in the first half? It seemed to me he had a couple of wonder saves. And then, we just steamrollered them. The difference between us and them appeared to be that when chances beckoned, we took them and they didn't. That is the difference between success and glorious failure. If we can keep this squad together through the transfer window, I would be astonished if we don't win the league with something to spare. Someone else said that this is the best Thistle team they have seen since the boys of 1971. Without getting carried away, I'd like to echo that. MacNamara is the key to all of this. When we played traditional kick it up the park, we looked no better than them. When we played a short passing game, which I think he wants us to do, we looked at least one class above them. Most enjoyable way of freezing my toes off in ages ;-)
  23. My son and I both work in the sash and case window business. Our aim is to build up the company over the next few years. At the moment we have a full order book out until about the 23rd of November. Experience says that we'll get more jobs as time goes by, but there is no certainty about that at the moment. We could do with someone who was willing to learn the trade, or better still, knows the trade. That person will be able to do this sort of work, or we would train them as required, but who will be, at the very least, a pleasant and personable employee. He or she will also have to be physically fit, as the job is quite demanding. So, in the meantime we are looking for someone that meets the criteria above and recognises that it might only be a temporary gig. If things go to plan, then the position may become permanent. If you are that someone, or know someone that would be interested in the job I can be contacted at: [email protected] or 0141 636 1242. If it's the latter, I might have to get back to you, leave a message. We are both Partick Thistle supporters and this is the only place we have advertised this position, meantime.
  24. One of the great joys of going to Meadowbank was watching the Subbeteo figures playing somewhere in the far distance. it was almost peaceful, like being at home.... So, no, I really don't think joint athletics and football stadia are a good idea.
