  1. Killie had already announced they were laying a grass pitch at the end of next season when their new training ground I'd due to open
  2. Loss of commercial revenue when dropping from the prem to championship. IIRC Norwich yoyo'd between english prem and championship for a few years and hoovered up £millions in parachute payments.
  3. According to the spfl articles of association Parachute Payments to 12th placed Club in the Premiership 159.1. Subject to Articles 158.2 and 158.3 fee payments, Parachute Payments, shall be made by the Company for each of the two Seasons immediately following relegation of any Club relegated from 12th place in the Premiership to the Championship from time to time of the lesser of £300,000 and 2.43% of the Net Commercial Revenues in the Season following such relegation and the lesser of £125,000 and 1.01% of the Net Commercial Revenues in the second Season following such relegation. The Parachute Payments payable for each such Season shall be paid to the owner and operator of such Club at the commencement of the relevant Season(s) following relegation. Parachute Payments to 11th placed Club in the Premiership Parachute Payments to 11th placed Club in the Premiership 158.1. Subject to Articles 158.2 and 158.3, fee payments, Parachute Payments, shall be made by the Company for each of the two Seasons immediately following relegation of any Club relegated from 11th place in the Premiership to the Championship as a consequence of losing a tie or ties in a Premiership/Championship Play-Off Competition from time to time of £500,000 in the first Season following such relegation and £250,000 in the second Season following such relegation. The Parachute Payments payable for each such Season shall be paid to the owner and operator of such Club at the commencement of the relevant Season(s) following relegation. In summary the 12th places team gets money and a % of the premiership's revenue, if the 11th placed team is relegated they get money.
  4. Just don't let him use the shower in case he disappears for a season.
  5. See Liam Fox is leaving Hearts. He has a decent record and experience at Aberdeen, Dundee Utd and the Jambos as a coach. Wonder if he would be interested in coming to Firhill.
  6. Think the point being made is they deserve a chance with a fully fit squad. In 50+ seasons watching Thistle I can't remember one that had more players out injured. Look at the bench for the last month, 2 keepers and most of the rest were academy players.
  7. Think Graham was a little unlucky the defender got a touch on the cross that just took it away and made him stretch a fraction further to get a contact. On another day the defender's touch defects it past his own keeper or gets no touch and Graham finishes. Small margins.
  8. With Thistle it's always the hope that kills you...(well almost always! )
  9. It's par for the course on some of these threads
  10. Saw Dunfermline against Hamilton a couple of weeks ago and they were dreadful without Kane. They could barely string 2 passes together and had no clue how to take on and beat Accies. Stop Kane and we should win.
  11. What's the format in the bottom 6. Is it simply bottom 3 down or are there playoffs?
  12. I'd be very surprised if the board was waiting until the end of the season. I'd also be surprised if discussions hadn't been ongoing after Doolan was sacked. Now Baraclough will be having input too. I think the title of manager or coach is essentially irrelevant. The job description is more important when looking to hire. For example how much input to signings and contract negotiations will the new person get.
  13. And if we win the league next season who takes the credit?
  14. This. Aren't Hearts using their tie up with Brighton to look at potential recruits with Brighton's data analytic system? There is more and more data available about players at every level, I hope that the new SD will be using that and his contacts and a scouting system to find the next Thistle stars.
  15. Is Cathkin owned by the council? If so I can't see them spending anything to bring it up to the licence requirements and I doubt Clyde could find the money. Lesser Hampden or back to Broadwood seem the only potentially viable options. Sorry....back to the new manager thread 🙂
  16. Might have a fight with Clyde for that 'honour'. Sounds like they might be on the hunt for a new home. They could move to lesser Hampden an that would help QP plug the gap when Haughy walks away.
  17. IIRC the council with input from police and fire services
  18. Basically I read it as 'we'll debate 10, 12, 16 team leagues then stick to the status quo or change to a 10 team league if that's what the ugly sisters want. Oh and stick another 5th tier league in Central Scotland alongside the Highland and Lowland leagues which presumably will mean more play off games and will make it more difficult to get into league 2
  19. Believe he's contracted until summer 2025
  20. Interesting point. I'd expect the Sporting Director to have his or her 'deliverables' same as any one else at the club. Planning, scouting and signing players within the club's budget and other parameters (manager's wish list, age, experience, potential sell on, location) for the 1st team and academy. Ideally the academy would be close to self funding so we would need to sell on a Fitzpatrick every season (fee reported as £350k)
  21. Agree on your point on the lower leagues DG. I'd go further and make the championship 12 teams and have 2 down. Then make leagues 1 and 2 regional and add 2 teams from the lowland and Highland leagues assuming they meet stadia and whatever other rules the spfl have. It makes no sense that Dumbarton travelled to Arbroath and Stranraer to Forfar on Tuesday night. It also makes promotion from the Highland and lowland leagues more straightforward. There may be some swapping of leagues depending on the teams relegated from the championship but it happens every year in the national league north and south and their feeder leagues
  22. Problem is this doesn't address the 4 games a season issue, it only adds 2 teams to the bottom half post split. Broadcasters are only interested in the 2 ar$e cheeks and to a lesser extent Hibs & Hearts playing a minimum 4 times a season (and inevitably in both cups). I'd much prefer 16 or 18 team leagues with fewer midweek games however clubs won't give up the TV money generated by hosting the ar$e cheeks twice a season.
  23. I thought Drysdale was back at Hearts and the loan cancelled when he got injured. Reid was signed to replace him
  24. I don't think Lennon would be happy taking directions from a Director of Football.
  25. Not a happy clapper but someone who is prepared to wait to see them play before writing them off. Assume you would moan if we signed Teirney on loan from Aresnal as a crock whose never off the physio's table.
