  1. Cameron coming to Edinburgh to address "naughty schoolchildren" is a PR dream for the SNP. Mind you nany factors at the moment are PR victories for the SNO e.g. whenever the opposition at Holyrood advance practically any argument, they tend to be so politically inept that I shudder to listen. That should not be taken as a green light for any utterances Salmond makes, his personal tendency towards smugness and arrogance, is a real bugbear of mine. Furthermore, the hoary old chestnut of England wishing to be rid of us, would in fact be a valid argument if Scotland were a subject country subject to English dictat, which of course is untrue, isn't it? The real reason for the Prime Ministers visit is that it allows him a nice opportunity to wrap himself in the Union flag and to show Tory voters, in the south of England what a great defender of tradition he is.. In other words Cameron is playing to his domestic audience and any benefits to the Scottish Unionist cause must be secondary to that prime objective.
  2. What is the position with Hearts and Dunfermline regarding the money owed them? If they lose out on a technicality i.e. Rangers to go bust, its hardly likely to endear Rangersto to either club. Especially since neither is particularly flush. In additioin, the trust element which even today is vital in the day to day running of sport, would take a huge dent. On the bigger picture I believe that HMRC should pursue any underpayment of tax to the nth degree, pour courage les autres. Finally, Alex Salmond, should be exceptionally wary of becoming involved in a very controversial area, in other words shut up.
  3. Even allowing for theh fact that most of us have had a good chuckle, as is usual with any story involving the OF it eventually becomes a tad tiresome. The blanket coverage in such august media outlets as the "Daily Ranger"(which I haven;t bought in years, incidentally) together with the despair of Chick Dung and co. is starting to annoy me now. Considering the multitude of problems in the world at the minute, The state of Glasgow Rangers isn't high in my priority list. Besides, I'm much more interested in the state of Partick Thistle!
  4. Makes the whole Daniel Cousins thing even stranger. I doubt the full ll extent of the somewhat "unorthod ox" approach, at Ibrox has been revealed. If I hear another currant bun going on about Rangers's history, that'll be their failure to sign a Caffolik for 110 years or so etc. etc. Really bloody glorious waisni' t it!
  5. Laugh, its so funny. Sympathy for Rangers, none whatsoever.
  6. I'm sure all Jags fans will be upset as me at the sad news fom Castle Greyskull. What odds of a dodgy penalty?
  7. Have to be honest I hate NDP it's a sou;ess windswet bus shelter and I.m afraid if Thistle were to migrate to a similar home it woukd take considerable effort to get me along.
  8. In reality there's more chance of me playing for Barcelona than Rangers been allowed to go bust.
  9. Oh goodie that means that we can look forward to even more impartial reporting of the Currant Buns than we've hitherto enjoyed! To be serious for a minute, it seems a bit of a strange commercial decision bearing itn mind that Rangers are far from everyone's cup of tea., to say the least.
  10. Much as it pains me to admit it over thirty years of following thistle there have been significantly more failures than succeses. Despite my own personal dissapointment, I cannot join this silly sack the manager campaign. McNamara may or may not be the man for the job, but it is virtually impossible to come to a considered judgement so soon in his managerial carreer. Without wishing to sound like some sage old git, just what do MacNamara's detracters expect? As i've said before we've no money, shit crowds and players of limited ability
  11. A nice wee early Christmas present. I see Super Ally is considering appealing McCulloch's dismissal no doubt as Rangers have an apparently important game on Wednesday! Methinks that referee won't go far in Scottish football applying the rules without fear or favour it simply won't catch on up here.
  12. Sound idea and a fitting way to remember a true Jags legend and a really nice guy incidentally.
  13. Couldn't agree more, I know supporters are fickle, but we are not entitled to look for miracles, a 1-o defeat at the hands of the leaugue leaders is hardly the end of the world as we know it. Disapointing yes, but we must get up and go again. I'm fully appreciate how annoying it is but in many years of watching Thistle, false dawns I'm afraid have proved more common than glorius success. However, I think we have to be more realistic, a look at the resources available to the manager, will I think show that our position in the league is about where we could honestly expect it to ne. Mind you who ev ever said that being a football supporter, being a Jags fan in particular has ever had much to do wih cold logic or indeed rationality.
  14. As a matter of course I don't like commenting on criminal cases when I'm not fully acquainted with the actual facts. However, it does beg the question, will Tayside police and their little helpers, be as zealous in their application of the law when those famously, law abiding Old Firm fans are on one of their friendly visits?
  15. I don't think Levein should go, for the simple reason that I cannot think of any available manager who'd do a much better job. I think we are deluding ourselves if we think we're making great strides forward: as far as I'm convened Scottish football is on an inexorable decline and unless their is root and branch reform we're unlikely to get anywhere. Of course that won't stop me watching the game and hoping for a miracle. aia'm just praying for Spain to have an off day, but to be truthful I fear that is nothing but a pipe dream.
  16. I must say that it is one thing not to underestimate your opponent, or over estimate your own country's prowess. But come on, the population of Lichtenstein is only about 40,000 people, to celebrate a 1-0 victory over a minnow like that(as the BBC commentary team did last night) is surely totally off. To be totally honest we are rotten and do not deserve to qualify. Furthermore, to me its always a sign that a manager or coach is struggling, when they're view of a match is so totally at variance with everyone else's. Not for the first time in this campaign Levein has joined that club frequented by such luminaries as "the bunnet". Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating getting rid of the manager, just asking him to refrain from living in La-la land!
  17. Great to see Marko grabbing the headlines once again was always a favourite of mine. Oh and in case anybody's ignorant of the fact the forces of darkness have met their doom in the League Cup or whatever poxy name its called now. Hard luck Super Ally, aw the shame, not.
  18. I definitely won't be supporting my local team, who play at Ibrox Stadium: no thanks!
  19. same old same old same old same cr*p
  20. Just got me thinking I always remember the Denis McQuade card, and on the back it had something like things you don't know about this player, a. He was going to be a priest. Ah it's all coming flooding back know all those .innocent days
  21. Your showing your age, I'd tend to say the same. Funny how, you always got guys like Henry Hall and Jim Cruickshank in those football cards, you know the ones with the wee bit of gum, anybody remember what they were called?
  22. Have seen known and played with so many guys like that over the years. It really pisses me off when you see a guywith natural talent, who f*cks his life up bacause of drink, drugs, bad company or more often simply being an eejit.
  23. I lisened to the Radio Scotland phone, that Irish guy Tom English, made the very valid point that come the OF game it'll be business as usual. The same old, same old i.e the biggest club game in the world etc. etc. Chick young will be bending over for Alistair the whole football media cr*p stinks. In fact Scottish football is actually cr*p! We're not too bad, after all we've always been rotten or thereabouts.
