  2. Well, it's six wins out of six but we really had to work for it today! Jags were totally dominant in the first half and deserved to go in leading by more than the single goal scored by Aaron Muirhead. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmU1YHBO5Kc However things were not so easy in the second half as the impressive Cowdenbeath disrupted Thistle's passing game and drew level with a 30 yard wonder strike. Thistle had Scott Fox to thank for not falling behind as he produced two brilliant saves to keep the game square. Thistle finally got back in front courtesy of an own goal. Aaron Sinclair's cross being turned into the net by a Cowden defender however I think there was a Jag at the back post waiting to pounce had the ball got that far. The ref Willie Collum was utterly abysmal throughout. We will have to play a lot better next week if we want to win at Starks park

  11. Wishful thinking by the falkirk fan! I was behind the goal and it looked like a really good goal line clearance to me
  12. What a start to the new season ! Two up after just seven minutes and the New Shed was bouncing. I feel thereafter we failed to capitalise on this great start and despite controlling most of the remaining half we didn't really put Falkirk under any serious pressure . The second half saw the visitors having more of the game and Thistle looking a tad shaky in defence. I thought Scott Fox, who otherwise had an excellent game, was caught out badly for the Falkirk goal. Just like in the Everton game Thistle hit back quickly to restore a two goal cushion and hold on for a fantastic start to the new campaign. What a great atmosphere in the New Shed today with some great banter and songs I hadn't heard before. I think this is going to be a very popular move with the fans Managed to catch most of Kris Doolan scoring our second on camera : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xzxu7sw38JI
  13. Well, we pretty much played them off the park but we had no cutting edge whatsoever. Some lovely football but it looked more like a training game than a competitive one. Finally got the break through once Kris Doolan had been brought on and it was Doolan who knocked in the winner when the clyde keeper failed to hold a Bannigan shot. Bannigan man of the match again for me

  18. I'm with you on this one! If either today's Everton side or yesterday's Celtic outfit were in the Scottish first division they would be expected to win it at a canter, they would probably be expected to hold their own in the SPL as well so winning this trophy in the manner in which we did is a real achievement and something to be proud off
  19. Thistle secured their first trophy of the season with a stunning performance this afternoon. Leading 1-0 at half time through Sean Welsh bullet header the Jags went on to completely dominate the second half, in fact I have rarely seen a Thistle side quite so much in control of a game as I witnessed today. Sean Welsh added a second from the penalty spot shortly after the restart and then completely against the run of play Everton pulled one back however Thistle wasted little time in restoring a two goal cushion as Stuart Bannigan slotted home number three. There then followed three offiside goals for the Jags as they continued to totally dominate. The match may have finished 3-1 but that scoreline seriously flatters the Everton XI. Well done the Jags :fan:
  20. Superb display by the Jags! A 2-0 win which could easily have been six or seven such was our superiority. But for a short period of time, after a triple substitution mid way through the second half when the Jags lost their rhythm for a bit, we were in complete control. Two great goals and plenty of excellent performances with Lawless, Welsh and Bannigan the best of the bunch. Lawless in particular looks like he could be sensational this coming season
  21. There are a number of points regarding the whole Rangers debacle that I simply cannot get my head around. Maybe somebody out there can explain : 1/ If Rangers are to be liquidated and a newco is to take their place then surely this newco is a totally separate entity from Glasgow Rangers F.C. therefore why should there be a vote to decide whether the newco is to be allowed entry into the SPL? What right do they have to be in the SPL? Absolutely none as far as I can see! They would be a new club wishing to fill a vacancy within Scottish football caused by the demise of RFC therefore just like everybody else over the years, eg. Gretna, Ross County Elgin City, etc they should have to apply for a vacant spot in the third division. Why is this not the case? 2 When Airdrieonians went bust the SFA supposedly rejected the application of their newco on the grounds that they didn’t want to send out a message that it was OK to liquidate, write off your debts and then reappear almost unscathed, so why is it now apparently a total stick on that the Rangers newco will be accepted back into Scottish football ? 3/ Recent talk of the newco being slotted into the first division is equally baffling. Surely this is contrary to all the rules and regulations governing promotion & relegation and is certainly insulting to all the other member clubs who play within the rules. If this travesty goes ahead Scottish football will once again be making a total arse of itself of a worldwide stage. Much as I don’t want it to be the case I think the answer to all the questions I have raised above is “because it’s Rangers” I sincerely hope that is not the case but when you look at Livingston being relegated to the 3rd division for going into administration and Gretna apparently being knocked back as a newco because they couldn’t provide three years of accounts then you have to conclude that a different set of rules are being used to deal with the H*ns
