  1. New 2 year deal for the captain. Great news.
  2. No to Paton. I'd have taken Ryan Dow a few years ago but not so sure now. Think he's off to St Johnstone anyway
  3. No to Paton. I'd have taken Ryan Dow a few years ago but not so sure now. Think he's off to St Johnstone anyway
  4. Paton was terrible last night. If it wasn't an aimless hack somewhere then he was slowing moves down with his inability to pass with his left foot. He did manage to get in his token rash tackle to keep up his hard man act mind you. Interesting to hear Barry Robson comment on the fact that Paton and Rankin cover a lot of ground but don't actually have the quality to change the game.
  5. Once we missed those two early chances I knew exactly how the game was going to pan out. Scully isn't good enough for the top level but he stopped it being a cricket score today. The team is devoid of confidence, complete shadow of the team that chased top 6. Welsh was rubbish today but there is literally no out ball for the midfield. We play so narrow I genuinely think a Junior team could keep us at bay. Even when we do go wide the inevitable cross is either to nobody or nobody has bothered to make a run. For me, this season can't end quickly enough. The atmosphere at Firhill today (and last week) has been brutal. In fighting amongst fans and abuse towards the players and management. Due to other commitments that was my last game of the season today, can't say I'm disappointed.
  6. None of our midfielders are direct enough. Even when they do eventually move forward 9 times out of 10 they will turn back or knock it sideways which slows the whole move up. Our delivery from the wings is hopeless, the cross which led to the goal came from our defensive midfielder. Lindsay has had a lot of praise this year but I've never really been a fan. Slow, ponderous (not alone mind you) and lacks awareness. Amoo's miss at the end summed it all up.
  7. Welsh the only one to blame for the 2nd goal? How about 2 guys going towards one Dundee player? Or Lindsay losing Hemmings? Shot ourselves in the foot once again. So toothless upfront.
  8. Great news. Hopefully a few more to come over the next few weeks. Booth has been terrific all season, another guy who has turned his career around under Archie and Shaggy's guidance.
  9. Where to start. First half was abysmal. Started nervously and were second to everything. Defence were all over the place, how it stayed 0-0 only Tomas Cerny can tell you. His save from Rankin was top drawer. Second half, I think Frans getting injured was a blessing in disguise. He'd been poor but the intro of Dumbuya was a game changer. His pace alone immediately put United on the back foot, something they hadn't had to do for 50mins. Miller was poor in the first half but I thought he was terrific at centre half, defence looked a lot more assured. Booth was getting forward at will, when we counter attack with him, Dumbuya and Amoo at full pelt not many teams can cope with it. I've been critical of Welsh but was really impressed by his 2nd half showing. If he'd tucked away his chance it would have been a terrific goal. He seemed to move the ball quicker in the 2nd half which got us going. As for the goal, brilliant work by Dumbuya, great dummy by Amoo and the finish by Doolan was top drawer. He wasn't at his best tonight but he always knows where the net is. He deserves all the plaudits going. Legend. We should enjoy this Jags team, even when the chips are down like in the first half they never stop battling and more often than not have found a way to grind out the wins. Let's go out and stuff County, this team deserve a shot at the top 6. Brilliant support through by United but in the 2nd half their team never got a sniff. Good to see Craigen back as well, spoke like a gent at half time, always welcome at Firhill.
  10. Edwards reminds me of Craigen with perhaps a bit more pace. I'd be happy to see him sign on again if he continues to impress.
  11. Currently sitting 10th. Not the time of year to go on a losing run! Hopefully the boys can turn it round
  12. Out for the rest of the season. Sad way for him to see out his Jags career but hopefully we'll get a chance to thank him before he leaves.
  13. Always thought some of the adulation Rowson got was a bit OTT but he was a decent servant for the Jags and had more good games than bad. Likewise, never quite got the praise that Murray got. Was decent enough early on in the season but wasn't exactly missed when he was out was he? Like PT says, all about opinions. p.s. comparing players on medals won doesn't really work, Djimi Traore has a Champions League winners medal and I wouldn't have had him in a Thistle team!
  14. Away to Alloa, I remember that game. Think we lost 1 or 2 nil? No idea on player, Craig Flannigan?
  15. Motherwell finding a bit of form, got some decent players. United dreadful in the 2nd half. McDonald and Paton both lucky to stay on the pitch.
  16. I thought Pogba played well, his link up play with Amoo was excellent. His header was decent enough, not a lot of pace on the cross. He just needs a goal. My only concern with him is that he seems to be burst after an hour. Definitely think he brings something to the team though. One last thing, although Lindsay is a great prospect he could do with sharpening up a bit. At times he's a bit ponderous with his decision making and slow to react.
  17. Behaviour of McInnes and his back room staff was laughable. Let away with murder by the ref
  18. Sore one. We went one up and kept at them, Amoo was running riot. Such predictability about their goals though. We really need to sort out our defending of cross balls including stopping the cross. Giving away two goals in 2 minutes is criminal. We played well but you can't defend like that and expect to win.
  19. Steven Bonar, Tommy Callaghan, Paul McDonald, Des Mckeown, Robert Dunn and Paul Tosh?!
  20. Retain the whole squad? We're having a good season but in order to keep progressing we need to freshen up each summer. Extra dosh should be used to try and keep our better players (I.e. Osman) but also to try and attract better quality as well.
  21. I like Welsh, feel he can add to the team when he plays next to Osman. He's not hit top form much this year, he was rightly dropped recently after a poor spell. However, bearing in mind how long he's been out this is pretty much his first full year in the top league. Hopefully he can take the positives from his play this year and improve on his weaknesses next season. His work rate as mentioned is excellent, some of the criticism has been a little OTT in my opinion.
