  1. Stanton probably falls in the Booth category. Highly rated, great first season with Hibs then lost his way a bit due to new manager not playing him etc before dropping to a lower rated team. I'm sure we've shown an interest in him before, perhaps Archie is the man to get his career back on track. In saying that, after getting a top 6 finish perhaps we'll be looking at a higher standard in which to recruit our new players.
  2. The bit I couldn't understand was him saying that he "never has to think for himself" on the pitch as it's all prepared for him. Surely a players ability to think for himself is what makes them stand out from the average joe? There are probably some points he makes that have merit but it seems to strike me as a player trying to talk up his new league to show he's playing at a higher level than he really is.
  3. Jamie Campbell, Jordan McGrotty (14) and Michael Gardyne for County.
  4. The folk picking up on his weaknesses..... Name me a Thistle player that doesn't have a weakness? The fact Christie can play to a decent level in several positions would put him (in my opinion) as one of the most important players in the squad.
  5. Amazing to think he's been here that long. Brings a lot to the team no matter where he's asked to play, great to see him sign on again.
  6. Aye you're right, forgot that was the way it was done these days. Nice to have 3 home games with decent crowds mind you, perks of a top 6 finish!
  7. Those fixtures work out well for us I think. 3 big home gates with the added extra of 2 being on TV should generate plenty of cash for Archie's transfer budget.
  8. The way the money has/is being spent makes a huge difference as well. No large sums being splashed on journeymen for a quick fix like Gretna, Livingston etc. A training complex where all our teams can train, eat, learn under the one roof will be an extremely positive platform going forward. It won't hurt when attracting players as well.
  9. https://ptfc.co.uk/ptfc-news/partick-thistle-to-get-new-4m-training-ground/ Bloody hell!
  10. As pointless threads go, this one is right up there!
  11. First half was incredible. Second half I witnessed something I've wanted to see for years..... The Jags are now streetwise! Staying down injured when under pressure, keeping the ball in the right areas (mostly) and not falling for Well's hatchet men tactics. Well done to all concerned, a brilliant season. p.s. Nice to see young McCarthy giving Lesley a taste of his own medicine!
  12. Nice bit of praise for the team and Archibald in the papers today from Brendan Rodgers. They were singing Archie's praises on the radio last night on the way to the game as well. Sadly this increase in coverage and praise might mean a few teams start sniffing about!
  13. Just when you think you can't feel more proud of the team after Saturday they go and do something like that! What a time to be a Jag, we have a top notch management team guiding some fantastic footballers. Delighted for Azeez, hopefully he'll take great confidence from that. A great moment as well for Cerny, he will feel like he's paid his team mates back after Killie (not that he needed to). Hopefully a big crowd on Saturday to cheer us over the line. It's a brilliant time to be a Jag, we should all make the most of it.
  14. Totally agree about Barton. Great awareness by Doolan as well, as soon as he's played it to Barton he's off looking for the return. County players sleeping. As good as Barton is in a back 3, I definitely prefer him playing further up. What a signing.
  15. Stick Elliot just about anywhere on the pitch and he never lets you down. Superb today. The academy boys have some superb role models in Elliot & Doolan on how to make the most of your career.
  16. Great capture. A textbook Doolan finish for number 100. Happy days.
  17. Great capture. A textbook Doolan finish for number 100. Happy days.
  18. Kris Doolan deserves every single accolade coming his way and more. It's been a privilege to watch him grow from the raw young Juniors striker to becoming the latest member of the Thistle 100 club. These are great days to be watching the Jags, our management team and players deserve huge credit. I hope Robert was looking down enjoying that one, the Jags turned up and more for him. Enjoy your beers Jags, 4th place here we come!
  19. Lovely words Auld Jag, you should be very proud of what your son achieved in life. Condolences to yourself and your family.
  20. Think you'd probably be correct. Only time I see him at games is when he's getting paid to be a pundit.
  21. Sore one due to the timing and nature of the goal. We were great in the 2nd half, as always we should have been comfortable before the error. Cerny has been great and all goalkeepers have a balls up now and again. Top 6 is still in our own hands, can't ask for more than that. With the break now coming we can get the squad rested and come back firing. Annoyed at the late goal but not disheartened, this team has more than enough to secure that top 6 place.
  22. Agreed. It was a cup quarter final with the chance to play in front of a full house at Hampden ahead of them. They should have been flying regardless of playing midweek.
  23. Erskine and Doolan had zero service. Doolan spent his game chasing aimless high balls punted in his direction.
  24. 76?! Where have the years gone. Nice read, quite the career Mr Lambie had!
  25. What a signing Keown has been, solid as a rock. Devine deserves tremendous credit for bouncing back from a ropey start to his Jags career, he has been terrific lately as well. The back 3 of Keown, Devine and Lindsay showings signs of being up there with Craigen, Paterson and Archibald! Hats off to the management team as well. No panic when we were shipping daft goals, stuck by the guys they had signed and have obviously worked wonders with them in training. Doolan double on Sunday to take us to Hampden?
