Robertson's on Gorgie Rd has changed hands and is a lot more away fan-friendly than before. It's a much handier option than traditional away bars like the Roseburn, or anywhere at Haymarket. Might be worth a try this Sunday, it's now a bit like Middleton's on Easter Rd, bit more mixed. Apologies if this is in the wrong topic section.

I think this is a hugely positive thing. It's great to see the club moving with the times and while John Lambie would never gone for something like this, I think it's a modernisation that is much needed. The Germans used this kind of thing to great effect before the last World Cup. It's all very well saying the investment could have gone towards a player who may or may not have been a success, but hopefully this will - over time - result in a general club-wide uplift which will be of far more benefit in short, medium and long-term.

I really hope Archie persists with this style of play and doesn't succumb to pressure and revert to long-ball. We wouldn't be able to play the way we do with two strikers. If we keep dominating games the way we have been, the points will keep coming in, and we'll be more than safe by the end of the season. Interestingly, on the Doolan front, he's got the same/more goals in the league this season than Goodwillie, Heffernan, James Collins (£200k), Hasselbaink and more - all players who we probably regard as far superior to him.

My abiding memory of this game was John Lambie arguing that Sandy Stewart's "experience" helped us hold onto the 1-0 lead, after bringing him on for the final six minutes.

Everyone I've spoken to who watched the game on TV, but aren't Thistle fans, thought the pitch invasion was a great spectacle, hugely entertaining, and wished Scottish football had more of that passion and intensity.

Forgive me if this is widely known, but here's the latest situation with the home strip: General Manager Ian Maxwell said: “Due to circumstances outwith our control, the production slot for the home kit was missed and had to be rescheduled. "Unfortunately, that means we have had to wait on a suitable gap in the manufacturers schedule to get it printed and shipped to us. “Our good start to the season has supporters thinking superstition is the reason for continued wearing of the away kit however it is simply down to the fact that as of yet we don’t have one. “Everything possible is being done to get the home kit here as quickly as possible and we are hopeful the players will be wearing it soon.”

Has to be worth a try for at least a few games. It can hardly get worse than it is just now.

I think the problem is we've never had a manager in my matchgoing lifetime willing to play anyone under the age of 22. From the beginning of last season we heard every week how we would have to pitch kids in, but apart from Campbell at the end of last reason being played out of position, this has never happened. The Old Firm argue, perhaps rightly, that they're under too much pressure to blood youngsters. What excuse have Thistle got? It's not like the "experienced" players we've pitched in over the years have been any better. Would it not be better throwing in a raw 18-year-old for a few games on the trot and forcing them to develop that way? If it doesn't work, we won't really be any worse off than we are just now. Of the youngsters we've got, many seem to be 20, 21, an age where they should have had a couple of years under their belt, not being treated with kid gloves.

Absolutely worth reporting, as is anything in court, it's more the tireless follow-up of it all, including a Sun story about "more victims" which was clearly fabricated.

I would cringe if we signed him BUT the sensationalist hounding of him by the tabloid press has been completely over-the-top.

I couldn't believe that either. Chick Young said the play-offs were atteneded in "droves", then Murdo laughed saying: "What are droves exactly Chick?" You'd think when the debate was about the play-offs he would jump in, given there were only two years of them, and he was the manager for one of the teams, meaning he made up 25 per cent of those in charge of the entire concept! "He's no listening to what I'm saying." No, Murdo, everyone listening would have been completely perplexed by your inaction during that part of the debate, and subsequent contradiction later on. Wish Radio Scotland - which is otherwise excellent - would have the balls to get rid of him. They can't just keep involving him because Richard Gordon likes him. Same goes for Allan Preston, John Robertson and Billy Dodds.

Total tit. The worst thing was he later tried to deny it, saying it was a tremendous occasion, denying he'd ever mentioned it. He's thick, can't communicate and interrupts. Ex-footballers on radio should be kept to an absolute minimum. He even made the cliche-monger Chick Young seem lucid.

There are a lot of managers (Hughes, Calderwood etc) who seem out of our reach - but they must be wondering where their next job will come from too. There aren't many clubs about in Scotland with bigger budgets than Thistle that they could attract attention from. And unless they convince a lower league English chairman, they may not have much choice.

Spot on, I cant imagine enticing these guys. Our leverage will be the fact we're full-time. Hopefully on that basis aany P/T manager in Scotland would at least consider us.

Would love Yogi - but can you see his style of football on our pitch? It has to be someone who's brave enough to use youngsters.

Their rationale will be the SH probably sells about 30,000 copies on a Sunday. Even assuming a greater proportion of Thistle fans may buy the paper than other Scottish clubs, it still means only around 1-2000 of readers will be looking for the match report, if that. They wouldn't see it worth their money sending a reporter there for £100 when they could cut and paste from other source. Instead, given Herald Group already pays agency subscriptions, they can lift unlimited copy from the Premiership for no extra cost. As well as the obvious financial savings, they might reckon the bulk of readers are more interested in the Premiership than Scottish Div One. I agree with the posters though, the level of coverage is appalling, and shouldn't always be down to projections made by people overseeing a dying industry.
