  1. Certainly didn't intend labelling anyone racist. How could I when I don't know anything about them? The point I was making was that these 3 especially Azeez who needs to be the victim of an assault before he gets a foul and Osman who is regularly harshly booked appear to get a rough time from most referees. We don't have anyone who can buy fouls like Hayes and many others in the PL.
  2. I suspect the original question hinted at a longing for the days when Thistle produced some Scotland players or at least potential Scotland players. My one criticism of Lambie was that he rarely bought through any young players as Livi, Hamilton, Hibs, Falkirk and some others have done. Although he always got the best out of journeymen like Albert, Tommy Turner and Roddy Grant. How proud would we be if we could produce a player of the calibre of Snodgrass or McArthur? Not blaming Archie for team selection or signings as his job is to keep us in the PL and most of the 1st team non Scots perform admirably. But I have great hope for half a dozen of the kids if the development squad to progress sooner rather than later. I don't want to sound like Nigel Farage but I would like to see Thistle with a majority of homegrown Scots in the1st team.
  3. Azeez and Amoo get nothing from the likes of Madden. Osman gets booked nearly every week by the likes of Madden. Can anyone suggest why? Most referees are like Madden.
  4. Aw naw. But hold on, can we do any worse than Slovakia?
  5. I've heard Dougie speak before. For such a pleasant gentleman, he got it RIGHT UP any opposing CH, especially the Old Firm. Our current strikers, especially the ever so nice Doolan, they should take a look at some old videos of the war horse Mr Somner. I think Ade is in the same mould but possibly not so adept at bursting the onion bag.
  6. If you we're to select a greatest Jags Xi from then to now, 6 of those players would be in the team. Rough Hansen Forsyth Glavin McQuade Bone Heroes all.
  7. Welsh must have taken 2 or 3 hundred corners. The opposition has scored from more than we have. I don't know what they do at training but I would have a morning session to determine who is the top set piece man. And a wee prize at the end. I think Welshy has been playing better recently but he shouldn't be allowed Anywhere near set pieces. The 2nd item at training would be how to convert good football into gilt edged chances. Again, the rarely seen Jaggernaut's brother identifies a long standing problem. to resolve this at training I would make the strikers, attacking mids and overlappers to get into the box, run off the ball and expect a pass. Not too revolutionary. If we could convert pressure into goals we wouldn't need to worry about Gordon's abysmal efforts at defending. I've seen the under 20,s a few times and they are better at delivering and creating space. Docherty should be given a chance as this is his forte. I assume jaggernaut's brother is an occasional visitor but he appears astute without having the bias of a long term fan. Music to my ears hearing someone compared to the great Hansen. He and Shaggy are my 2 favourite defenders of all time. Missed yesterday but I have enjoyed Barton so far. To win over the fans he would be better appearing not quite so languid though.

    Lawless

This could explain why he's been so useless this season. A good recuperation period could result in a rejuvenated Stevie. So this may not be a bad thing. Because when he's good he's very very good.
  9. I'm fed up with Lawless. He lost the ball every time, sometimes with a lazy flick or a blind pass. He needs dropped and kicked very hard. He thinks he's a star but this year he's a liability that needs written off. Gordon has been rank rotten. Another who loses the ball constantly. And as for Devine.........
  10. How did he manage to become the worst manager in the UK after being such a brilliant gaffer at PTFC? Don't feel sorry for the Dundee filth but what did York City do to deserve it?
  11. That guy Martin reminds me of Pogba. A carthorse with no 'attitude' who jumps down the way and never scores. Not good attributes for a striker.
  12. Not the best I've seen them play bur clearly the better team. Wilson and Welsh top class and Docherty superb when he came on. I hope Archie was watching!
  13. So we have a number of eras since the beginning of time that have been fairly poor. Could start a new thread. I've been supporting Thistle since 1968. The only time I stopped going was Derek Johnstone. Still despise that man. I think GRE must be referring to this period.
  14. Thank God Willie Henderson's retired. A wee lobby to the back post and he would be a jack in the box above Ziggy.
  15. Their no 4 was under extreme pressure especially 2nd half. Looked a real haddy. Partly because Azeez is such an awkward opponent, fast, strong, willing. Dools would not have got on the end of 2 of Azeez's chances as he is not as athletic. There lies the problem. We cannot afford to play a striker who does not look as if he will ever score no matter his other benefits. Dools would have buried the one presented so well by Erskine and we would have 3 points in the bag. So Dools should start unless Azeez can improve his finishing. It was depressing to see Welsh replacing Erskine. Welsh contributes very little and it was obvious we needed another goal. Should have been Doolan on at that stage. Or McDaid. Or Wilson. Gordon continues to disappoint.. Elliot to rb next week please. And please let Erskine be uninjured. And Booth not too sick.
  16. I hope Barton sues for wrongful dismissal and extracts £2m from Sevco. There was always a stench from the Oldco that has been recycled through sewers and is seeping out again through every pore at Murray Park. There is no light pouring out and Barton has now discovered this.
  17. I agree though we're even more honking against Dundee Utd. It sounds like Archie now appreciates that we have to play with width and we won't see the st j shape again. Sounds like booth and lawless looked better yesterday so let's feed Dools some nice balls to feet and the attack is sorted. Sunday Times had us way ahead of Killie yesterday. The are some poor teams like Dundee, Accies, Mwell and Ross still to play. Saw Dundee today who are now very poor. Hate being bottom but we will pull away.
  18. I am in complete agreement with elevenone's team. Stevie just manages to stay in ahead of Edwards and Elliot. Good bench options. For the first time I agree with someone100%. Whats this forum coming too? Too much sense. We need greater dissent!
  19. I think Lindau is being over protective. I appreciate the loan system to a degree and predict Nisbet who is inexperienced and still young and raw will benefit from his spell under a very good manager in a competitive league. And others like Lindsay came back better players. Wilson has been around longer and has been a fringe player for a while. His pre season was excellent when he excelled in several games. It appeared to me that he is ready now in his preferred role. After Saturday we certainly need a box to box player, while Banzo is out. I am not a huge critic of Welsh but he is limited. We need freshening up after st j. I think Wilson knows what's expected now. He's not going in against world beaters. Scottish football was of a much higher standard back in the day pre loan system. Young players were thrown in and generally performed(think league cup winning team). I am sure he would do well at st mirren or Morton but think we' now have a player who can finally be useful to us.
  20. Brilliant stuff. Thanks. Would have preferred some of the other Hibs players in that photo
  21. Been banging on about it all season. Wilson is a far better player than Welsh and should start on Saturday.
  22. I was sure it was Alan Hansen! I can hardly remember Marinello playing for us. Does anyone know his Thistle record? I assume he signed for us after realising he wasn't going to be the next George Best.
  23. I am as frustrated as everyone with yesterday's performance. We were easily beaten by a well organised but dull team. And I understand some of the criticism. But I am unimpressed by the lack of positive strategies from anyone on this forum. The question is, how are we going to score some goals with the players that we have? Could I please have some plans from you brilliant strategists?
  24. The attack appears to me as more of a problem than the defence. I agree we are a bit shaky at the back but there is nothing coming from our attack. This is a surprise considering the talent we have. But I don't think we can play the 4 attack minded players together without any width whatsoever. It was worth trying but does not work. I thought Erskine was terrific but running into a cluttered 'final 3rd' made a scoring pass impossible. Edwards made a big difference but I don't think he has the vision to play a pass once he has beaten a player. Gordon is a defender. Keep him away from the attack which makes me think he could play at RCB in a back 3. Amoo and booth as wing backs?
  25. That was terrific but not surprised having seen them a few times. Well done the coach.next step is to get them stepping up.appreciate some are only 17/18 so future looks good and boys are in good hands. I think Wilson has been unlucky to have been left out the 1st team as he has been excellent when utilised. Imo a better bet than welsh.
