  1. I fully agree. It will lead to the people at the top table walking and leave us with not a pot to piss in. (from outside or in)
  2. I agree with everything you are saying here. To me, and I am not clued up in the ins and outs of business is merely the Board trying to make life easier for the Club in functioning without rigmarole. Why this would be such an issue is beyond me and for it to potentially lead to the most clued up business people we have walking away from a situation that would make running the club efficiently and leaving us on the brink would be a catastrophe. We are a business and should abide by Company Law. To me it is as simple as that and all this talk of ulterior motives is nonsense.
  3. Personally I don't think that message is going to solve anything. To say a small number of shareholders are standing in the way is true, but it is a small number who are holding a rather large amount of shares and I don't see how that message is going to change anything unless there has been a lot of discussion going on in the background. A bigger turnout at the next EGM may well see the motions being passed by a hand count, but if a poll vote is called then I am sure we will be back to seeing these motions defeated. October 7th is a huge day in the history of PTFC from what I can see.
  4. That's true. I'm still receiving correspondance even though I made it quite clear that I wanted nothing more to do with the Trust a long time ago. Half a dozen second class stamps have been wasted in the last few months alone.
  5. How many members does the Jags Trust currently have out of interest?
  6. I don't think you're grasping the feeling with which a lot hold the Trust. I fully understand it's not about representing the Trust it's about Thistle and there's ways of doing this ie Firhill Fun Day, Join the Jags and the WeAreThistle Fundraising website and player sponsorship that has achieved far more than the Trust ever has on the Fundraising front. the Trust had a Meet the Manager night last week that I imagine hardly anyone knew anything about. Not everyone buys a programme, the Trust website has been pitiful and there's hardly any comment on here from the Trust unless they're taking one for the team. Read the other thread about the Trust and what people want from it. From what I see the general feeling is that people want not a lot to do with it. Did you not become co-opted to it in the first place because you were attempting to overthrow it like it had been to reincarnate it in the first place?
  7. That's exactly why it is going to have to be 'others' that take this on board and try to make it happen. The relationship between the Club Board and the JT is non-existent. The WeAreThistle website has been set up so that fans can get off their arses and do something if they have an idea. There's areas to look for volunteers and promote fundraising ideas. If I'm not mistaken the guys at WAT set this up due to the lack of fundraising initiatives coming out of the JT. That's not a bash the JT statement, it's fact.
  8. Do you honestly believe a 'community-based football club' would ever work for PTFC Allan? We are as disjointed a support as you can find, as the many guises of the Jags Trust proves and the reasons for the many ins and outs that have occurred within that body. The apathy amongst the Thistle support shows me nothing to suggest that this model for a football club would in any way work for us.
  9. I would like our Jags Trust to be disbanded and something started again in it's place. It is tainted, it has failed miserably in it's many guises since it was brought into line with the rules it was supposed to follow. I personally see no future for it in it's current guise and think that something like you suggest above regarding events and volunteers being sought to actually do something to help the club is already in place, but is being ignored by the many fans who have ideas and should be better utilised. It's called WeAreThisle Fundraising and can be found here... WAT Fundraising
  10. I don't think it is. We've seen all sorts of shambolic decisions being made under the previous Firhill regime yet the Trust chose to sit on the fence or even abstain. As soon as there's new people at the helm, real business people might I add, there's a sudden interest to sit in wee cliquey communities at EGMs and vote things down.
  11. I'm not blaming the Trust for everything. I'm merely pointing out that when there is something constructive to be done, like manning up a Freshers week stall and trying to entice along new support to the club the Trust are nowhere to be seen.
  12. Should the topic of this not have been... 'Do PTFC have any people to do something at the Freshers Fairs at Glasgow or Strathclyde Uni?' This has been discussed season after season and the answer remains the same... WE DO NOT HAVE THE MANPOWER! If we had a credible Jags Trust then this would be an ideal thing for them to take onboard in conjunction with the Club but when they'd rather piss in from the outside then that ain't gonna happen now is it? For something like this to happen, and it IS a really good idea, people have to take it onbard themselves, approach the club and make it work that way.
  13. It intrigues me that the Trust has suddenly found the balls it could never muster to take on this Board of Directors yet hardly uttered a squeak towards the previous nonsense that we were inflicted with. Should anything be read into the cosy wee gathering at the back of the room at Friday's EGM or was that just coincidental?
  14. Yeh, I'm sure we've got that watertight and contractually sewn up.
  15. How anything can be described as 'sufficiently large' in a room of 24 folk is beyond me. Maybe this is where the budgetary went a bit tits up in the past.
  16. He's minted anyway... inherited a fortune
  17. Probably at the next coffee morning or knitting circle they arrange...
  18. I was one of them. My shareholding isn't worth the paper it's written on as I chose to dissolve it back in the day of Save the Jags, a decision that was unanimous and sadly has led us to where we are today due to the way the shares were divvied up. I remember well being told how, 'Never again will one unscrupulous man be able to get his hands on our Club' and how the Club will be protected for years to come by the Thistle-mindedness of the custodians. What a crock of shite that was. To hear that the Board are wanting to bring the Club into line with Company law affronted me. * How dare they wish to operate like a business and within the laws that govern it! * How dare they try to rid the Club of the need to ask the shareholders permission for everything they do! It's not as if the shareholders haven't enjoyed being party to every decision that has been made in the past and being able to have their say on it. I remember well being asked about every decision over the years and the pride I felt at the failure of every one of them. The hypocrisy shown yesterday was astonishing, actually no it wasn't it was expected. We have an opportunity for the Club to finally be on a firm financial footing and run like a BUSINESS and not a hobby and at the first sign of this we have failures from years gone by throwing the toys out the pram and a huge spanner in the works which could prove catastrophic. A Third Lanark situation is looming. Some may enjoy that and be in need of another fix but the majority of us just want a football club to support and if it can be one that is fit for purpose and runs like a football club should then all the better. We are in a position where will never be able to shake the shackles of the past. I personally don't believe any of the scaremongering that is being put out there. I think as fans we have become so insular and untrustworthy that we are entrenched in the siege mentality that has spread from within the walls of Firhill over the years. I believe the people we have at the top table just now wouldn't put their business integrity on the line for a shitty wee piece of land in Maryhill and we should all trust them. Forget the whispers you hear on supporters buses, in pubs at games. I truly fear for the worst of our club now having witnessed what anyone who tries to better it is up against. Administration may be the only way forward for PTFC.
  19. As far as I'm concerned no news is good news as I fully expected an announcement to be made today that Beattie and Allan had left the building and we would be totally ******.
