  1. Sam Scrivens signs... apparently! Penistone Church FC official website is reporting that Sam Scriven has signed for us! Looks like they leaked the deal! Hmmm 9th/10th tier of English football... https://www.penistonechurchfc.com/new-player Quote from their official website: SAM SCRIVENS SIGNS FOR LEADING SCOTTISH CLUB We all wish Sam Scrivens well at Partick Thistle. He had a successful trial in mid June and as usual scored a goal. He joins our ever-growing list of footballers who have moved to professional clubs. Partick Thistle Football Club are based in Glasgow. Despite their name, the club are based at Firhill Stadium in the Maryhill area of Glasgow, and have not played in Partick since 1908.
  2. Passed Banzo and Fraser outside St J on Saturday. Both in Thistle trackies and walking about. Not heard any proper update on fitness though! Have a feeling we won’t see either of them before the split.

    Penrice

Delighted that Penrice is having success on loan, especially with a team doing well in a competitive league. I believe he is playing centre mid for Livi. However, if we have Osman, Woods and Fraser fit then he won’t be used in midfield for us this season. Hopefully Booth is back for January too meaning Penrice would unlikely to be used left back. If these scenarios be the case, I would leave Penrice on loan at Livi. He is gaining excellent experience, far better than sitting on our bench. Making him potentially very useful for us for next season. ETA: Yes, get his contract extended or at least offer him one, we would be due compensation if he left. Livi also would be due compensation if another club stepped in (remember the Jukka Santala compensation scenario!).
  4. Who... Will... We... Announce?
  5. Bloody excellent result, just when most of us didn't expect it! Well done Jags and the fans that made the trip. Livi in the QF please
  6. Jered Stirling. First names is much trickier! Edited: just thought of one, Leigh Hinds (Leigh is near Bolton). And also Barry Elliot (Barry near Cardiff).
  7. True, that is the Hibee way isn't it
  8. Reckon the team that started against Stranraer, with Dools in for Kevin, will start the game. Not sure if Keown will be thrown straight in. Seriously doubt Turnbull will play. I see Hibs have signed Stokes. There are plenty goals in both teams. However, I feel our defence (featured in the League Cup anyway) is far from solid or it is potentially far from match fit depending on who we start. High scoring game, I suspect! Not overly confident as Hibs will be out and raring to go, point to prove etc.
  9. Judging by the amount we got for Lindsay (ridiculously low in my opinion) that, in fairness, was probably dictated by contract clauses - I wouldn't be so sure it would take too much cash to get Archie!
  10. Awww I was enjoying the comedy unfolding at Gorgie! Archie in the frame for the job?!
  11. Welcome to Firhill, Jordan! I think he will be an excellent signing for the season. He has played plenty matches over the last three years, around our standard, some would argue even better standard. If he can cover the left then that's great. Will Archie favour a Turnbull, Devine and Keown back three now? Have a feeling Turnbull won't start on Saturday though as I think he has only played half a game over the close season, might lack some sharpness and match fitness.
  12. Pretty much all been said... Nobody was a failure today. Nobody was a standout. Bannigan had a lot of the ball and was sort of linking defence with midfield but I felt he was far too slow and negative today. He wasn't the only one. I was just saying he should be subbed for Edwards or McCarthy and Archie did it a few minutes later. Think that gave us the little more drive and directness that was required. Dools also helped with that too. We're through. Job done. No embarrassment.
  13. What was said? I have heard him say about getting players in already this preseason and it hasn't happened yet. Fingers crossed!
  14. As indisputable as our massive bid for Taylor, yes.
  15. I think, recalling when I read his interview, McDonald said us and St Johnstone approached him.
  16. McDonald was quoted saying he wants to get some medals as his career ends and winning the Championship appeals. I also suspect he struggled last year more than previous seasons. He scored 11 in 40, I'm sure his return is usually better. At 33, for a striker, he is near the end for the top of his career. The easier Championship, while probably getting about the same wage, will have tempted him.
  17. Killie have just turned down £500k for 22 year old Coulibaly from an Egyptian club. Interestingly, his contract is the same length as Lindsays. Not a straight comparison but gives an indication of what we shoukd be looking for if Lindsay moves on now.
  18. According to the BBC, Azeez has had four great chances today, all of them in the box with just the keeper to beat or one defender near him. Two sounded like one-on-ones. A pity, a second would have killed Motherwell and got Azeez onto the scorecard.
  19. Scored today for Ayr, good start to his loan.
  20. Was he sitting beside Paul Pogba? In all seriousness, I don't think Lindsay will be of interest to Celtic, he isn't 16/17 and hasn't been a stand out performer (yet). However, I wouldn't be surprised if they are checking him out. We would be due a decent fee but him moving would leave us ridiculously lacking defensively. Perhaps cash and a player our way would be offered.

    Paul Pogba

I was sat several rows in front of press area in JHS and my dad said "is that Paul Pogba sitting behind?". I laughed it off but reckon he was right!
  22. An exciting match! Great to get it up them, pleasing Defence is a bit shoddy in all honesty. I am far from impressed with Devine. Seen him for 270 minutes now and he still has to win me over. I think having Osman back will stiffen up our team, it was lacking grit in the middle today. Wilson was putting in a brilliant performance until he was subbed. This might be his season. Would play him ahead of Welsh when we have more midfielders to choose from. Erskine is back and it's still the good old version of him. Moments of brilliance and good hard work plus the goal. Azeez did well, his pace and strength will hassle any defence. He should have done better with just one last defender to beat in the first half though. He did have a couple of good chances so encouraging. Agree that Edwards lifted the team and think that was the change we needed today to win. All in all, a good day and a win under our belt.
  23. He isn't even mentioned in the preview by Archie, goodness knows!
  24. Dave Crawford signs short term http://ptfc.co.uk/news/2016-2017/july_2016/david_crawford_signs Assume it's mainly to get round the no trialist rule for the League Cup. He's experienced, although at a lower level than the Premiership.
  25. Osman is out, he is on the live commentary. A big blow for us imo. Will probably see Welsh snd Wilson sitting in the middle of the midfield.
