  1. I’m not convinced this would have been a great piece of management to be honest. Pele liked to come a bit deeper to get the ball and use his pace and sharpness - definitely a number 10 whereas Dibble was definitely more a penalty box striker - I’m not convinced he’d have been so good playing deeper. On the other hand John’s moving of Davie Irons to sweeper was a master stroke so I suppose who am I to doubt the master!
  2. Certainly could be real. If I remember Neil was a talented, if a little inconsistent, wide player signed from Benburb I think. Not convinced he ever played in the first team but was a reserve regular and I’m sure he scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over Celtic. Him and Grant would have played reserve team football together.
  3. Tough one this one - MoJo and Gary Mackay for Hearts - maybe Kevin McKee for us?
  4. Well the linesman is John Young! Facially the other Jag looks like Grant Tierney but I don’t think he’s tall enough! So I’ll go Albert Craig
  5. That’s tricky as to who is on the ball - definitely Brian Wright and Bobby Smith in the background with referee Sir Les of Mottram. I’m going to guess at Calum Campbell
  6. Just heard that rule 9 paragraph 7 sub section B means that both Hearts and us have to play all four games away from home!
  7. I hope no Thistle fans need to be told who that is!!!
  8. When I was working at the club I fielded a call from someone who had been at hospitality and had seen a brick on the Jackie Husband Stand who wanted to know what we were going to do about a brick with FTOF on it. I expressed to him that I had no idea what it stood for and didn’t think it appropriate to act. He said you must know it stands for F**k the old firm to which I said it could mean Free the old firm because they were unable to break away from Scottish Football but he said that I knew fine well what it meant and he was going to go to the press about it. Sadly the bosses were a wee bit feart and did bow to his wishes - I would have stuck to my guns and left it. Whose with me? Should we free the old firm!!
  9. And none of them touched by an opposing keeper! Best penalty taker I ever saw for Thistle
  10. Nearly but not quite. We were 1-0 up when Martin got injured and they had no sub goalie (may have used all their subs, can’t remember exactly.). Derek McWilliams has given us the lead as we then went into 12 minutes of injury time where Airdrie netted twice, once about 4 mins in and then again about 5 mins later. NOT a good day to be a Jag!
  11. Tam Friel - it was a memorable trip
  12. As from 1st July you can use your employees part time and furlough will make up the difference up to 80%
  13. Interesting to note that Celtic v Rangers, normally 3rd or 4th round of fixtures, will now be the 11th round of fixtures, deliberately delayed till as late as possible to allow the “greatest club game in the world” to be played in front of a crowd. Now this could be just pure coincidence but I suspect more favour being shown to the bigger sides. Now this may be police or Sky pressure but it might just be some Scottish clubs holding greater power in the SPFL. Any thoughts from my fellow Thistle fans? I’m really angry about this. Justified anger or shouldn’t I give a toss?
  14. Surely an independent panel will not rule against any compensation if that’s what they deem to be correct solely because of the money spent on lawyers?
  15. I’m sure you are right - 700 sounds right
  16. To be fair to IM - the SFA are the appeals body (depending on how court works out!) so he, nor the SFA, can get involved!
  17. While I generally agree do you not feel that if the SPFL had shown “coherent and decisive leadership” then we would not be in this mess now. Good leadership would have cajoled the clubs into 14-10-10-10 at the very outset. what makes you think that the current setup are capable of “coherent and decisive leadership” now?
  18. Just for 100% clarity what is being reported here is what was said on the radio - although the person saying it was George Fraser the Chairperson of the Scottish Lowland League
  19. Seems we are now causing some seethe amongst other clubs who, according to the Daily Record, want to expel us from senior football! So protecting your interests after what is seen as an injustice is worthy of expulsion but run up debts of nearly £100m cheat the taxpayer, the face painter, the flower arranger and be liquidated and we will bend over backwards to get you in to as high a league as possible! Anyway delighted this is causing angst amongst some other clubs. I’d like to wish David Thompson all the very best - a highly respected friend of the Jags. If this does nothing other than bring about the downfall of Neil Doncaster, a man who should have led his organisation through this crisis rather than fumbled his way through it, then all good and well. if his board had decided at a very early stage to say no club will be worse off and led the clubs to a solution that suited all as there was one, then he would have got a lot more sympathy from all clubs and I’m certain it would have carried - that lack of leadership and understanding is why we are where we are.
