Charlie Endell
The 80s - what a nightmare for music and fashion - best exemplified by the bizarre success of Phil Collins.
GrantB
I despise that type of bass playing. *shudder* ugh! This. There is no room in any type of music for slap bass. Terrible, terrible band. Things you never ever expected to hear: No. 23. "Level 42, are they the best band ever? I think so"

McKennan
The 80s - what a nightmare for music and fashion - best exemplified by the bizarre success of Phil Collins. Can't argue with that. Europe's back catalogue and maybe 20 minutes with Roxette would kill off any doubts. NZ Jag
Level 42 are one of many examples of a group of technically very proficient musicians getting together and pooling their collective talents to produce shite.
mrD
theres a lot of nutters about. level 42 are epic creators of a sound that challenges our basic notions of what constitutes rhythm and melody whilst maintaining some real (and i mean real) catchy and groovy hooks. I also like how they can be so edgy at times but not in a way that would alienate the average listenter. At the very least no one can argue that mark king does not have the funk. flea, les claypool, stanley clarke or any other wannbe needs to get off the boat. btw - im currently looking for a date to take to the level 42 gig coming up soon. not any takers at this stage - it seems a woman with a good music taste is a rairity. mrD
cheers for the head up sandy. anybody who thinks they are pish should check out this. shows that even in 2007 they can still give a performance on stage of such energy that not even minor threat in their heyday could manage..
