jagfaelivi
Just been watching Rostock of the third tier in Germany at home to top league team Hertha. The standard is sooo far ahead of our top league. And we wonder why we don't progress in European competitions. There are around 30k spectators and you would never think that Rostock were anything other than a top league outfit. Take the ball in tight positions, hold on to it and pass it well. Scotland has just not moved forward. Let's just enjoy our domestic game and accept where we are in the football universe

elevenone
Bit more technical ability on show yes but you can keep the flares, seats on fire, teams taken off pitch and match stopped at varying intervals for safety reasons as happened in said match. Firhill for me.

Roque
Good to see that we've stopped comparing our league to English football. Not so good that the comparison has moved on to German football, which is an equally meaningless comparison.
Fearchar
Bit more technical ability on show yes but you can keep the flares, seats on fire, teams taken off pitch and match stopped at varying intervals for safety reasons as happened in said match. Firhill for me. It's the former DDR, where crowd behaviour is always a problem - perhaps comparable to Govan, as an adjunct of NI. Most football in Germany doesn't have such problems. Good to see that we've stopped comparing our league to English football. Not so good that the comparison has moved on to German football, which is an equally meaningless comparison. It's a standard worth aspiring to, and we could learn from the German setup(s) at various levels, including customer service. Even amateur football clubs, for example, can provide electronic scoreboards, and travel to Bundesliga games can be included in the tickets (as they are in Berlin), which are priced lower than ours. Clubs here are so concerned for their own survival that they ignore the bigger picture, and don't put pressure on transport providers, for example, to make it easy to travel to and from football matches. The football and league authorities here are ineffective. If you were a stranger in the centre of Glasgow, Perth or Edinburgh and wanted to (1) find out if there were any football matches on, (2) find out how to travel there and (3) find out how to get entry, how would you do it? If you managed to get information, would you be told about the risks of attending games with the ugly sisters, for example? Is information available in, say, Chinese or Finnish or German? An inquiry at any tourist office in Hamburg, Munich or Berlin would give you reliable information on the equivalent. Yes, I think we should be comparing ourselves to German football, as it's an example that has every relevance, as a model for high standards of football, but also for customer service. lady-isobel-barnett
I thought it was obvious that all aspects of German football are light years ahead of what's on offer throughout Britain, never mind our league. Fifteen years ago or so they transformed their entire game, encompassing their leagues, international team, clubs and, perhaps most importantly, their fans. What did we get? Henry ******' McLeish.
