Norman
Has anyone got any information on the Thistle goal-keeping legend, Mark Cairns. I've been working on a project for him for nearly a year now and it was only today that I discovered he was the same Mark Cairns that played in goals for us in the mid-1990s. Soccerbase shows him as having 7 appearances. Any more info available?
Albert's Ghost
From my records he made 12 league starts and 3 each in the main cups, over 3 seasons, 1994/5 - 6/7.

chunky jag
Aye I think we got beat 1-0, but if it hadn't been for Cairns would have been 10-0. I thought he played a lot more games than that? Remember we signed him from Gala Fairydean did we not? Really good keeper who didn't let his small stature stand in the way of being brilliant! Norman
Spoke to him today and he's not that short (about 6 foot). He did go on to play for Alloa and scored the winning penalty in the shoot out to win the Challenge Cup. Martin Cameron began his career in 1997 with Alloa Athletic, where he made was a big fan's favourite scoring 48 goals including two in the 1999 Scottish Challenge Cup final win for Alloa. The game finished 4-4 with Cameron scoring Alloa's third and fourth. Alloa won a nail-biting penalty shootout 5-4 with goalkeeper Mark Cairns scoring the decisive penalty. Vom Itorium
He was a very nice man, but a man very low on confidence for a goalkeeper. Remember talking to him in Metz when Nicky Walker was getting the drinks in for the fans and he seemed petrified to ever have to step into the big man's boots if he got injured. Very nice man though..

Thanks, I am aware of that ditty, although I always believed the penultimate line to be "'Cos she's yer mammy's mammy". The tune was also, of course, shamelessly ripped off for "She'll be coming round the mountain".
