I wouldn't think so. They'll see themselves as in with a very good shout of winning the division and changing their pitch to plastic and back to grass again would be costly.

But could almost guarentee promotion if their record on it last time is anything to go by...

I'd guess that their Board has already taken the decision one way or another, but it's an interesting dilemma. Rip up the turf, buy and lay another plastic pitch; that must represent a fair outlay when their income from the SPL has just diminished enormously. But with the artificial pitch there's almost nothing in the way of maintenance costs, and the place can be hired out to bring in income. But then if they did that and did win the league, it would need to get ripped out again, etc. etc.

 

I reckon that, like most teams that get relegated from the SPL, they believe that they can win promotion first time around, so they'll stick with grass next season.

That comment floored me, as I didn't realize what had happened.

After their dismal home record this season, I reckon they'll be looking to improve their home record on grass in case they find themselves in the top division again relatively soon.

Some of the worst games I have ever seen were on the Plastic pitch at Hamilton. A combination of the plastic surface and Billy Reid's tactics. Vowed at the time never to go there to watch football again.
