ritchie
How do you think we got Brian Hodge when there were SPL clubs after him at the same time? Really?
1 John Lambie
Really? He was to go on trial with St. Mirren, but decided that a 2yr deal with us would be a better option. Also believe that he had signed a pre-contract with Hibs whilst Mixu was manager, but when Hughes came in he decided he wanted to sign all his own players & cancelled the deal. Mad Mull Jag
Its a balancing act , do you go for the cheaper unproven option (juniors) or the more expensive slightly proven (youth reject) or the very expensive proven option (over 30 seasoned pro). If we sign too many older guys on higher wages the squad numbers will be less so with signing juniors on less money it may lead to more bodies in the squad thus more options available. Its all a big gamble in the end we have seen seasoned pros, youth rejects and juniors at firhill down the years all with varying levels of success, sometimes your lucky sometimes your not thats life
Vom Itorium
Erskine gave as much, if not more to the squad last season than Hodge. I've no problem with McCall taking a chance on a few players from the Juniors, but I also think we need to get the blend and more importantly the formation correct and that seems to be something that he struggles greatly to achieve.
