Finding Bit Torrents

I have been using btjunkie but it's packed itself in.

Any suggestions for a replacement gratefully received.

Thanks

:shok: Perish the thought that anybody - least of all Thistle fans - would use torrent sites to (presumably) download music, films etc for free. However, a mate of mine told me about this and said something about a site called 'EZ Torrentz' or something like that being pretty good. Not that I'd have the faintest interest in this sort of activity of course. :hypocrite:

An excellent alternative to Torrents are NewsGroups, I overheard some Guys at work talking about UsenetServer (http://www.usenetser...om/en/index.php) and you would also need a piece of software to be able to search the NewsGroups and download the files, I've heard that NewsBin Pro is excellent for the job (http://www.newsbin.com/index.php).

You do need to pay for UsenetServer about $10 a month gets you unlimited downloads and an encrypted SSL connection, the NewsBin Pro is a one off purchase of $20.

The main difference I've heard is that unlike torrents where you need someone to switch on their PC and share their files, these files are on Servers, so you have a constant access source. In addition I've heard you get full use of your bandwidth, for example I've got a 7MB connection and that would be my download speed all the time, 24 hours a day if I wanted it, unlike torrents which depend on folk keeping their PCs on and sharing, so I've heard.

Guys at work who have Virgin Broadband are getting 50Mb download speeds 24/7, allegedly! :innocent2:

My, erm, mate has been using this for a couple of years now and it blows torrents out of the water.

99% of stuff "he" has downloaded has been virus free and the speeds are lightning, although virgin have started to choke connections down to 8mb for a couple of hours in the evening if you download too much.

Still, downloading at 8mbps is still much much quicker better than the torrent method!

Oh and joining a site like nzbmatrix is ideal for searching for your files, I have been told ;)
