ewanstu
Â Â Hello All! Â I found this photo online and I was just wondering if anyone knows what year its from? Â Cheers
David Stevenson
My guess is mid-1980's.
Jaggernaut
My guess would be late 80s. Certainly pre-90-91, which is when the new (current) floodlights went up. Â Crackin' photo.
northernsoul
It was taken in 1989.
Jaggernaut
At the north end: that's a fair chunk of land between the goal and the terracing; I'd forgotten it was quite so far.
Tob Jag
It was taken in 1989. Â Is that correct? (no offence I'm wondering if you are telling us or suggesting 1989?) Â I thought it must have been earlier as the 'Police Shed' behind 'wee goals' isn't there and then I spotted Springbank St missing, hmmmm. Â Is that a Corpie bus at Queens X Â Old Tunnel still so I thought earlier. Â No 'Gents' open air toilet inside turnstiles at North end. Â And look at the poor old "Tavern" sitting there all alone! Â I am inclined to think earlier but can't quite read the registration number on the cars

When I was a Ball Boy, it was referred to as the "Big Goals" and the "Wee Goals" but on a positive note, it's amazing how long it could take to retrieve a ball if we were winning!!! That's also where the three wheeler disabled cars parked to watch the games (and they still got skelped by flying balls!)
potty trained
There's photos kicking about of the main stand taken from the "knocked down" springbank street. Not sure where to find them thou. 88/89 was the season I started going to Firhill. But I'm sure the main stand had been refurbished by then as I got the Watson towers kit from the shop at the front of the main stand. Â I'm going to say this is from
gerrybritton9
i think this was roughly when i started going - 88-89. i remember thinking that the groud was so vast and expansive. And now my kids know this we tight cosy stadium. Â changed days for Thistle and Glasgow. Â great memories! thanks for posting
The Sunnylaw Jag
Could it be the late-80's and it's half time in a Clyde home game?

Cheers Ah the memories looking at the waste ground in front of the stand .It used to resemble a first wwar battlefield when killie and airdrie came calling with there buses getting a little more air conditioning
The Sunnylaw Jag
Impromptu Air conditioning's fine except when you're on the receiving end on a bus coming back from Aberdeen! Freezing!
peagreenboy
Why did they decide to demolish all those lovely tenements anyway? It was well past the age of turning Maryhill Road into the Northwest motorway. Â Also, the Firhill pitch looks in lovely condition in that photo ... Norgethistle
Its before 89, the club was rebranded then with the stealth bomber logo (Which is missing from the main stand) , and corpie busses stopped about
Jaggernaut
Can anybody explain the mysterious circles on the pitch? Iron-age settlements? Old wells? Fairy rings?
Tob Jag
Can anybody explain the mysterious circles on the pitch? Iron-age settlements? Old wells? Fairy rings? Â Turn your head slightly to the left, and squint with your eyes and you'll see 'Mary from Maryhill' quite clearly grown into the seeded grass of the pitch. yoda-jag
Can anybody explain the mysterious circles on the pitch? Iron-age settlements? Old wells? Fairy rings? Â they are scorch marks from the landing and taking off of the millenium falcon and other x-wing fighter jets. the photo is from 1985, if correctly my memory serves. The Sunnylaw Jag
Is that one of those duff 70's wall murals on the gable end of the tenements on Northpark Street?
stuthejag
The Murals were there till the mid to late 1980's. I remember the big Acid face
