    Flat Earth

Been doing some reading...and I'm not sure. But I look around, and it seems pretty flat to me. However, I think I have came to the conclusion that the earth is probably round.
  4. So today's team starting against Bath is: Trialist, Trialist, McMullin,Trialist, Devine, Osman, Amoo, Welsh, Pogba, Azeez, Nisbet. Two defenders and a Goalkeeper on trial then I am guessing.
  5. That was pretty poor Thistle! No sense of urgency! Playing at such a low tempo Harkens didn't even need his zimmer. Muzzy did brilliantly too bad about some of his other team mates. I think we are just one good midfielder and defender from breaking into the top six though. To be fair thought Scully did ok. Not too much he could do with the goals. Can see why a Saints fan told me Miller is better in midfield, marking was pretty poor. Elliot has a good engine, but lacks defensively, thought we missed Booth. I think if we had Booth and Muzzy playing at the same time we'd of been able to out flank Dundee, and probably most teams. But at times we did just look too pedestrian, and the season is definitely not over yet.
  6. its official, Aidan Nesbitt joins on loan http://www.bbc.co.uk...otball/35459423
  7. Great signing! Im sure I remember him being player of the year at Accies a few times and had the habit of saving penalties, something Foxy could never do
  8. I think this is a great opportunity for Archie to sign a good goalkeeper who under Gallagher as coach might be able to develop into a proper Premiership standard keeper. At times Foxy was pretty average and I would of picked Paul Gallagher over him most days. He is a great Championship level player, and clearly County are preparing for their inevitable relegation next season. At least when Jonny Tuffey left us he was making the step up to the Premiership, before his career nose dived into obscurity.

  10. I have in the past made recordings of match atmosphere and I can do alot better with my wee recorder than this noise. Also I think there is a big difference in quality of this noise and say music played pre/post match or announcements. Some people on here have even said they havent heard anything. I didnt hear it on Friday, though I did hear it last season, while I was working as a volunteer in the Gantry, next to the DJ and Announcer. This was just a theory based on what I know on the workings of microphones and speakers. But I cannot believe it is deliberate for several reasons, the poor quality of the noise, the sporadic nature in which it appears, the randomness of where in the stadium you hear it, I am very sure thistle dont have the audio recording equipment needed and the fact that it is a mental idea to play recorded match atmosphere at a game. Also would it possibly be a hazard for when safety and other information announcements are made by the police? Failing this explanation of a 'wonky' PA System I dont know what it could be. Though Ive seen Lance floating about on this forum...I would imagine he is the best person to answer this mystery.
  11. It could just be that the speakers in the North Stand are different. I know that up in the gantry there is a switch to turn the speakers in the North Stand on and off, there isnt a switch for the Main or Jackie Husband Stand, so they are on a different circuit. There should be quite a delay on it. If youre suggesting that its actual chants pre recorded then why did it sound so horrible? It shouldnt sound so tinny if thistle are doing it on purpose. It makes it completely pointless and make no sense to play poor quality recordings. And then why bother if they play it so sporadic throughout the match and only in random parts of the Stadium. I am positive that it is down to the poor PA System and not on purpose...its either that or ghosts of Thistle fans who lost their way during the Dick Campbell era
  12. Would rather believe that than suggest the ludicrous idea that Partick Thistle FC, who (lets be honest) do not have the best equipment ever, 1 mic and no proper recording equipment on purpose play shitey sounding match atmosphere....I mean its either that or what? They have some guy in the stand with a mic...and if pre recorded then they play it randomly throughout a match, and in random bits of the stadium? Because this is the only alternative. Believe what you want, but from my experience working with similar equipment its the only reasonable answer.
  13. As far as I am aware Partick Thistle do not play match atmosphere over the PA system on purpose. I am certain what is being played out through the PA system is feed back from the fans in the North stand. Microphones and Speakers act very much the same, if you shout into a speaker and have it hooked up to a microphone you will be able to hear it through the mic. The reason why it sounds so horrible is because its going through the PA system backwards and you get that tinny sound. The only way to deal with the problem is to turn off the speakers in the North Stand, which I know they sometimes do, which is why sometimes you dont hear it. However I know they also sometimes forget to switch it back off/on, which is why they sometimes miss announcements in the North Stand. The only other way to deal with the problem is to get a better PA system.
  14. Hello All! I found this photo online and I was just wondering if anyone knows what year its from? Cheers
  15. Well, I was pretty sure thats what was happening, I couldnt really imagine the idea of a mic being placed in the North Stand. Though the speakers were turned back on early on in the second half. Edited to add; But I bow down to your greater knowledge, I was just trying to figure out any explanation for the weird noise...as I said, couldnt really imagine a mic actually being put in the stand
  16. Well, it doesnt really matter, because it isnt something that can be controlled. As Ive tried to explain above the noise coming through the speakers is the side effect of 200 odd fans singing their hearts out. It may sound bizarre but Speakers can act just like Microphones. If you were to shout into a pair of headphones and stuck a mic to your ear, you will be able to hear yourself. The only way to stop this will be to turn the speakers off in the North Stand. Its actually a bit of an achievement in a way, that fans in 'the new shed' were loud enough to be able to send a signal through the PA system. ...any of that make sense? Am probably not explaining it very well sorry.
  17. The noise of the crowd being played over the PA system has nothing to do with any attempt to 'generate' an atmosphere. The only way to stop it would be to turn the speakers off in the North Stand. Speakers can act just like microphones, and if youre loud enough you'll get the effect you heard today.
  18. I have to say, the standard of commentary for the England match was unbelievably poor. I mean, I think the moment when the commentator starts hoping that Pirlo or Abate are injured, is the moment when they should be moved off BBC to somewhere more befitting like TALKsport. It really was like being in a pub with two English guys in front of you. I can understand, and agree people should be supporting their national football team, but their really should be a limit, it just seemed pretty unprofessional for a commentator. Especially calling Alessandro Diamanti a West Ham reject...he played 28 games scoring 7 goals and was runner up in the West Ham player of the year (second to of course Scott Parker). ...but hey, he did score the winning penalty so I'm happy

  21. Partick thistle vs St. Johnstone 1990. I am led to believe that we won 3-1...I was 6 months old. My first away match was against Hearts...I was 18 moths old.
  22. According to STV Hutton is moving to Thistle Deal Completed
  23. I was only going by what I had been told by a member of the board. Obviously after reading the article you cited I am more concerned, since the income from the Warriors probably prevented us from going part-time and enduring even more hardship. Might be a good idea to keep an eye on the Warriors forum as they have also have the same topic. Warriors Forum
