Vom Itorium
O'Neill has resigned with immediate effect. Wonder if Lenny's coat will be on a shoogly now or if he's just anticipating Bunter getting his jotters and making sure he's in a position to return to Glasgow? lady-isobel-barnett
Wonder who'll get the Villa job? When ever a Premiership managerial vacancy occurs Martin O'Neil is routinely touted for the job.
Semi Nurainen
Interestingly a fan (of Arsenal actually, who DIDN'T come one the Villa website to rub their noses in it) posted: "Once again, People in the boardroom are getting to involved in the sporting affairs of the club. These chairmen and board members know nothing about football and running good clubs into the ground with their wheeling and dealing." Various genuine fans of other clubs, who also weren't into nose rubbing, made similar comments. Sound familiar?

Money is tight in football and the books need to be balanced. O'Neill has proved, again, that he is an egotistical prima donna. I hope that the wee numpty does not get any compensation. Unless an agreement was made where he resigned instead of being sacked as it sounds like his relationship with the Board had just about collapsed. It is likely that O'Neill will get a pay-off in return for keeping his big mouth shut. It will be interesting to see whether any money received from transferring James Milner (and, possibly, Ashley Young/Brad Friedel/Emile Heskey), will be reinvested in the squad.
